Villa Paraskevi is located in the peaceful mountain village of Kalamitsi. The villa sits on a large estate full of vines and botanical gardens. Kalamitsi enjoys wonderful panoramic views of Lefkada towards the sea.

While you are staying on this magical island you will enjoy fabulous days on beautiful, knock-out beaches, discover amazing coves, enjoy scenic countryside and hilltop villages, climb mountain peaks and dine in style at the island’s fantastic restaurants. There is one restaurant in Kalamitsi. It is really quite surprising that Lefkada remains under the tourist radar and more of a special secret. Lefkada is connected to the mainland by a long causeway and floating bridge and is an easy drive from Preveza airport. Among the most beautiful beaches are Egremni, Kathisma, and the endearing Porto Katsiki which is loved for its golden sands and fascinating landscape. The unique beauty of Egremni Beach has made it one of the most photographed landscapes. It is one of the longest at 2.5 km and the water is clear and a beautiful turquoise shade. Its name comes from the impressive cliffs that surround the beach. Much closer to the villa is Kathisma Beach. Facing the Ionian archipelago, it offers fine dazzling white sand, sparkling turquoise waters and a good selection of beach bars and sun loungers. The best beaches for windsurfing and kitesurfing are Agios Ioannis and Vassiliki. Nidri boasts a very organised beach with an excellent watersports centre.

Another mountain village, Karya, is lovely with its central square full of taverna tables under the shade of a huge plant tree. You can enjoy the local Karysaniki embroidery, once a vital part of the national dress. North-east of Karya and surrounded by towering cypress trees, mountain scenery and craggy cliffs is Lazarata. There are two notable churches, Agios Dionissis and Agios Spiridonas. Lazarata is a great place for a stroll to enjoy the neat vineyards, olive groves, citrus plantations and the red-roofed houses. You can take an organised mountain bike tour of the island. Some cycling tours also include the neighbouring island of Meganisi.

The pretty, whitewashed church of Agios Ioannis Antzoussis dates back to the 16th century and is one of the oldest churches in Lefkas. There are some fascinating archeological, historical and cultural sites to visit on this very special island. Wine lovers enjoy Lefkada Earth, the home of some fine local wines. You can combine this stop with a fresh seafood lunch overlooking the brilliant blue waters at Sivota or Vasiliki.

Nidri is the largest of the tourist towns and Nikiana is the second. With amazing amenities, irresistible sandy beaches, unforgettable views across the islets of Heloni, Sparti, Madouri and Scorpios, gastronomic delights, incredible scenery with famous waterfalls and the Dimosari Gorge, Nidri is wonderful. Nidri and Sivota are favourites with yacht charter firms. Island hopping is very easy and enjoyable. You can take excursion boats to the local islets and the secluded coastal bays of Lefkada or the ferries to Ithaca and Kefalonia. The pretty Geni peninsula is a 15 minute drive around the bay from Nidri or a 5 minute crossing by boat. Geni village is a friendly, traditional fishing village with several charming waterfront tavernas. Another wonderful place to visit is the medieval castle of Santa Maura.

Kids

Ideal for Teens

Villa Paraskevi is fantastic for a family holiday. It is located in such a beautiful location. Children love playing tennis on the court and wandering through the botanical gardens learning about the plants. There are two living areas so if children want to relax with a movie at the end of busy sightseeing day, they can easily do so without disturbing the adults. The swimming pool is very popular.

Children adore the sandy beaches on Lefkada and the warm turquoise water. The beaches are considered among the most beautiful in the Mediterranean, backed by a beautiful, verdant mountainous landscape. Kathisma Beach, close to the villa, is very popular with its stunning views and family-friendly amenities. There is a good variety of watersports as well as volleyball and tennis courts. The sunsets are pretty spectacular too. Porto Katsiki Beach is often called the ‘Maldives of Europe’ because of its immense beauty. Egremni Beach is another much-loved beach. Adventurous older children enjoy kitesurfing or windsurfing at Mili Beach, Agios Ioannis, Vassiliki and at Kathisma.

The Monastery of Faneromeni, dating back to the 17th century, offers a wonderful view of the lagoons and beaches around it. Children enjoy lighting candles in the orthodox churches. The monastery is also home to a mini zoo with deer, birds, ducks, parrots, squirrels and chickens.

Another enjoyable trip is to the beautiful Dimosari Waterfalls, also known as the Nidri Waterfalls. It is a 45 minute walk from Nidri and there is a delightfl cafe for lunch before or after the hike. The waterfalls are one of the scenic highlights of the island.

At the mountain village of Karya children enjoy picking a few souvenirs from the hand-made puppets and crafts, pretty lace and embroidery on sale.
