Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

There’s so much for your kids to do and see when you take a holiday in Crete. Starting with the villa, there is your own private swimming pool, where the can play and splash all day. Damnoni and Amoudi are the nearest beaches at just two kilometres away, whilst the fun resort town of Plakias is a five-minute drive. Further afield there are lots of family-friendly organised beaches, most especially Vai Beach with golden sands, jet skis, wakeboards, banana boats, and viewing platforms they can climb to see the beauty of the pine forest backdrop. Many of the beaches offer water sports, take a trip to Voulisma for some daring sea-faring thrills. The Aegean Sea is a safe place to enjoy snorkelling and underwater fish spotting, whilst for older children there are lots of centres to learn to scuba dive.

Keep them active with guided hiking trails around the island, along coastal paths, up mountains, and through gorges. For those who don’t fancy a walk, there’s a Land Rover Safari to traditional villages, coastal towns, down deep gorges, and up craggy mountains. Learn to ride at one of the many stables, and for the more experienced equestrians, there’s nothing more thrilling than a gallop through the white horses of the foaming sea. A visit to the Cretan Oil Farm is a fab day out, learning about the history and production of olive oil, local herbs and cheese making, and even trying their hand at milking a goat. All aboard a boat for a fun day out at sea is a great way for the family to spend time together, discover hidden coves, enjoy locally cooked food, stop off for a swim, and relax and sunbathe on deck.

Travel further afield for a day out to Agios Nikolaos, a statue spot around the town’s central lake, climb the stairs and take in the culture of contemporary art, or learn about Minoan history in the Archaeological Museum. Near Agios Nikolaos is the Acquaplus Waterpark, packed with swimming pools and water slides for children of all ages. If nature is their thing, hike the island to see the local flora and fauna, find the cave that Zeus was born in, follow the stream trail to hidden waterfalls, and visit the open-air Sitia Geopark and discover Crete’s diverse ecosystem. Visit the unique Homo Sapiens Theme Park at Ano Kera, which exhibits the daily life of the first humans, and traces the history of evolution.

A visit to Crete isn’t complete without a trip to Spinalonga, now an open-air museum, reached by a short boat trip from Elounda, once the home of a former leper colony and a ruined Venetian fortress, and now the setting for many a film, it makes for a fascinating day out for children and adults alike.

We enjoyed Villa Petal. However, we already know at least 3 families who have stayed at Villa Petal and are considering for next year!!

TOP location, you have found a beautiful house!

    Best regards,

  • Beautifully decorated cottage

    Created on 20/08/2023

Beautifully decorated cottage; lovely swimming pool and centrally located in the south of Crete. Can recommend it to everyone!

  • A Great Stay

    on 15/07/2023

We have been able to enjoy this beautiful house for over a week. The contacts with manager and owner were fine. You can (also) eat within walking distance in Lefkogia in the local tavern, where the family serves delicious dishes. The inventory could have been a bit more spacious, otherwise had a great stay.

  • I immediately felt at home.

    on 08/07/2023

I stayed here with my two almost adult sons. The nice house met all our wishes. I immediately felt at home. The atmosphere and space inside and outside is perfect. Due to the location you really need your own transport. The area is beautiful to explore. The sea, the beaches, nice places and a beautiful gorge for walking.

  • Great
