Villa Vamos is nestled within walking distance to the traditional village of Vamos, the historical heart of the beautiful Apokoronas region of Chania, with views to both the sea and the rugged hills, it is in an ideal spot.

The pretty village, Vamos village is 25km from Chania, set in West Crete in the foothills of “The White Mountains.” Rethymno is only 35km distance, and the capital city of Crete Heraklion is 135km away. Vamos is in a semi-mountainous spot, 300m above sea level, yet only a few kilometres to the sea.

Known for its compelling architectural heritage, Vamos draws visitors for its preserved traditional stone road, sublime painted Chapels of Virgin Mary (dating to the 13th century), and Karidi Monastery which boasts a spectacular original olive press with 12 arches.

The beautiful Chania has a dash of Florence about it and a touch of the Venetian grandeur, the stunning harbour is a majestic site during the changing light of the day while the old port, narrow shopping streets and waterfront restaurants blend for a charming ambience. Mountain villages offer a window into the “inner Crete” with hiking trails and archaeological sites at every turn.

How to reach Chania

There are two ways to reach Chania: either by flight or by ferry.

By plane:
Chania Airport (CHQ) is only a 20 minutes ride away from central Chania. During the summer months, frequents overseas and domestic flights are performed. In most of the cases, there are available buses that connect Chania city and most of the villas. You can also hire a car from one of the many rental companies at the airport, or alternatively get a taxi to bring you right to your doorstep.

By ferry:
If you choose to do an island-hopping trip and use the ferry as a method of transportation, then the closest port is in Souda, only 8km from the centre of Chania. Only ferries from Piraeus in Athens or Heraklion in Crete. Heraklion port has a wider choice: you can also take a ferry from other Greek islands like Santorini, Mykonos or Paros, but you will have to take a longer bus ride to reach your villa. Villa Vamos is a wonderful choice for a memory-making family break. The two twin bedrooms are spacious and perfect for siblings to share.

Limnoupolis Waterpark is less than 40 minutes drive away - with a variety of pools and slides, and cafes and restaurants, it makes for a great day out! The Samaria Gorge National Park is a natural wonder for trekking and hiking, while little legs can enjoy child-friendly trails. Beaches in this region offer plenty of choice; located on a tiny islet famous for its white sands, Elafonissi Beach offers warm and shallow waters, ideal for children.

The pretty village of Vamos is rich with heritage and history, while watersports, glass-bottomed boat trips, pony trekking and mountain biking are all available in the region.

End of stay cleaning included? Yes. However, guests are required to leave the accommodation clean, tidy and in the same condition as on their arrival. Any extra cleaning, laundry, maintenance and/or rubbish disposal required will be charged against the security deposit.
Internet access? Complimentary Wi-Fi internet access included in rental price. It is good to note that the speed is dependent on local provider and technical issues may cause reduced speed or cut of service.

    A really fantastic house! Beautiful setting and fantastic view. With all the luxury a person needs (maybe too much). Very friendly owner who comes to pick you up and even provides basic necessities. Moreover, the owner helped us the next day with finding a rental car and getting bread and money. Very sympathetic. The way to the house is difficult to find and at a few places bumpy. A reasonable car is recommended for this road. Swimming pool is fantastic. Village at 20 minutes walking distance. The nearest beach is a 15-minute drive away. If you want a luxury vacation, I would definitely go for this villa! Really enjoy! For young people it is a bit more complicated because the nightlife requires some organization to get there.

    The ambience of the place and its surroundings. The quality of the house and fittings and the incredible views of mountain and sea. Great spacious pool and tranquil surroundings. About 400 meters road could be improved. It's being fixed.
