Kontokali is located between the beautiful resort of Gouvia and Corfu Town on the Gulf of Gouvia. The resort enjoys an authentic appeal and an excellent selection of shops, bars and restaurants as well as a fabulous Blue Flag beach. From the beach there are stunning views over towards the Lazaretto islet and Corfu Town with the Old Fort in the background. The Kontokali peninsula is a magical spot, named after Christophoros Kontokalis, a sea captain and shipowner who was awarded the estate by the Venetians after his successful participation in the Battle of Lepant. You can catch a bus or drive into the capital, getting there in just fifteen minutes. In Corfu Town you can explore the Old Town, admiring the ancient Venetian buildings. You can shop until you drop and enjoy many fine dining restaurants and trendy bars.

Villa Hexagon sits within beautiful gardens with a fabulous infinity pool, a delightful alfresco dining area, a built-in barbecue and some wonderful alfresco lounge areas. The interior is extremely spacious with a huge living space, a modern kitchen, five bedrooms and four bedrooms. For entertainment, there is some gym equipment, some family games, bicycles and a Smart television with satellite channels and Netflix capability. The villa is built over three levels with many of the rooms enjoying wonderful sea views. The living spaces, on the first floor, enjoy a minimalist feel and the kitchen, in wood and cobalt blue, offers excellent appliances for your self-catering stay. From the first floor, guests can enjoy the balcony and the garden with its alfresco dining and cooking area.

The villa’s five bedrooms are comprised of one with a kingsize bed, two with double beds and two with twin beds. One of the double rooms and one of the twins enjoy an extra sofabed which you are welcome to use. The four bathrooms are smart and well-maintained, mostly fully tiled and with a mix of showers and jacuzzi baths. Most of the bedrooms have direct access to a balcony or terrace, perfect for popping out and enjoying your morning cup of coffee while enjoying the panoramic views. Two are on the ground floor and three on the top floor.

Despite wonderful interiors, guests staying at Villa Hexagon will likely spend most of their time outside. On different levels, there are some wonderful, peaceful spots for pre-dinner drinks, alfresco dining or simply disappearing off with your holiday books. Your barbecue masters will be delighted by the built-in barbecue area with its barbecue and pizza oven. The infinity pool with its waterfall spout is gorgeous and boasts a built-in jacuzzi. It is located in the perfect spot to make the most of the sea vistas and is surrounded by luxury loungers and parasols.

Villa Hexagon is nestled in the lush green hills above Kontokali. This fabulous, modern villa is surrounded by lush gardens. Kontokali is located next to Gouvia on the Gulf of Gouvia and within very easy reach of Corfu Town. The resort enjoys an excellent selection of shops, bars and restaurants, many of them serving fresh fish of the day. Kontokali blends into its next-door neighbour Gouvia so you can easily enjoy Gouvia’s beach too. Kontokali’s beach is tucked into the headland that keeps the bay away from the Ionian Sea and Gouvia’s, a sand and pebble beauty is a ten minute stroll away, sitting beside the long-standing leftovers of its Venetian shipyard. Gouvia’s bustling marina boasts many fine dining restaurants and charming tavernas. Visitors can take boat trips to explore the north of Corfu or the nearest islands. The views from Gouvia are really stunning with the sparkling Ionian Sea and Corfu Town on the horizon.

Corfu Town, the birthplace of the late Duke of Edinburgh, is one of the most beautiful, graceful and elegant towns in Greece. Corfu Town falls between two great Venetian coastal fortresses and within lies a very modern capital brimming with elegant mansions, magnificent palaces, beautiful squares and no fewer than thirty nine churches including the beautiful Church of Saint Spiridon. The Duke of Edinburgh was born at the fabulous Mon Repos Palace. Next to the palace gardens you will find the calm waters of the Mon Repos Beach. To the north, you will find Faliraki Beach. The town’s stunning architecture has many influences including Sicilian, Venetian, French and English. The entire Old Town is declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, a tightly-packed warren of cobbled winding lanes bursting with lively bars, boutiques and fine restaurants. You will also see timeless alleys with the day’s washing stretching from balcony to balcony, such a pretty scene, especially with colourful bougainvillea draped everywhere. There are also some interesting museums including the Byzantine Museum of Corfu which is housed in a 15th century church. Others are the Museum of Ceramic Art, the D Solomos Museum and the Asian Art Museum. The Old Fortress has been around since the 1500’s when it was built by the Venetians. You can cross a bridge over the moat to reach the citadel and the walled courtyards, then head to the Church of St George on the waterside.

The beautiful, hilly village of Paleokastritsa is also within easy reach of the villa. It is known for its stunning coastal scenery which winds around a series of gorgeous bays, ending at the 18th century Paleokastritsa Monastery. The village is set in the middle of a clover-shaped bay surrounded by olive groves and forested woodland. The coves are beautiful and there is a picturesque, colourful little port five minutes’ walk from the village centre. The main beach is Agios Spyridon which enjoys glistening white sand and turquoise water. You can take a water taxi from this beach to the more secluded coves.

North of Corfu Town is The White House in Kalami, best known as the former residence of British author, Lawrence Durrell. Lawrence lived at the house in the 1930’s with his wife Nancy. Their Kalami home was regularly visited by his family including the young Gerald Durrell who later became a leading conservationist and popular author. You can visit The White House which has been owned by the Atheneos family for generations for a holiday experience about literary history, Greek hospitality and fresh seafood! The village of Kalami is surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea, a beautiful peaceful spot.

You can drive or hike to the mountain top, stopping at traditional Greek villages on the way. The zigzagging mountain road starts halfway between Ipsos and Barbati Beach passing through Spartilas and Strinilas, one of the island’s highest villages. You can enjoy delicious local moscato wine from one of the village’s taverns. If you want to hike to the top you can start at the 14th century village of Old Perithia. It is a three hour round trip through thick forests, olive groves and rocky terrain. At the top you can visit the 17th century monastery.

In Corfu Town, children enjoy climbing the walls of the Old Fortress, the Venetian fort built in the 15th century and the New Fortress. The fortresses boast fantastic views of the turquoise waters. Also in Corfu Town, you can take a trip in Kalypso Star, the glass-bottomed boat that leaves the harbour to explore the Ionian Sea’s fascinating marine life. A ten minute boat trip from Corfu Town takes you to the tiny island of Vidos where you can enjoy feeding the rabbits, seeing the peacocks, swimming and having lunch at the charming taverna.
