Overview
This smart contemporary villa is beautifully situated on the edge of charming and fashionable St-Rémy-de-Provence, its pretty garden edged by vineyards and olive groves with panoramic views of the forested hills of Les Alpilles. Despite this fabulous location, Villa Tropique is only a few minutes’ walk from the centre of town with its cafés, restaurants and shops.
A renowned interior designer has created a stylish and striking holiday home where you can easily relax and make the most of the location and views. The spacious living and dining area has a vaulted beamed ceiling and sets of wide french windows which open onto the terrace, framing wonderful views of the garden, vineyards and wooded hills of Les Alpilles - the downstairs en suite master bedroom also leads to the terrace and has the same beautiful outlook.
Enjoy cooking up culinary delights from local produce in the modern kitchen while the second TV lounge, gym and cinema room are sure to be even more popular. Upstairs, a second en suite master bedroom has fine views over the hills and the two remaining double bedrooms and child’s single bedroom are perfectly furnished.
The private grounds are a haven of delight with trees, decked terraces and the same lovely views. The heated swimming pool with a stunning pool house bar and sumptuous lounge is yet another reason to keep you close to home.
When you are ready to leave your gorgeous holiday villa, take the short stroll into the centre of vibrant St-Rémy-de-Provence, a place where Vincent Van Gogh painted his famous “Starry Night” and many artists still display their work each summer Sunday. The Wednesday morning market is renowned as being exceptional with stalls winding down narrow streets into shady squares.
For the energetic, Les Alpilles Natural Park offers many opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, rock climbing, horse riding and mountain biking. There are idyllic hillside villages to enjoy such as Les Baux-de-Provence and Eygalières or drive further afield to the lavender fields and mountains of the Luberon region to visit Gordes, one of the most beautiful villages in France.
It’s also worth paying a visit to the fine cities of Avignon, Nîmes and Arles, the gateway to the Camargue renowned for its wild white horses and pink flamingos.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa TropiqueVilla Tropique is situated on the edge of a residential area around 1.5km from the heart of St-Rémy-de-Provence in the Bouches-du-Rhône department of Provence. It is half an hour south of Avignon and therefore easily accessible to its airport and TGV train station, or you can arrive via Nîmes or Marseille airports.
St-Rémy-de-Provence is in the northern part of the forested hills of Les Alpilles and is its main town, the place where artist Vincent Van Gogh was inspired to paint his famous “Starry Night”. Many contemporary artists still display and sell their creations each summer Sunday on the bustling Route des Artistes.
Surrounded by lush valleys, the town has ancient winding streets where you will soon stumble across a shady square with cooling fountain, an elegant boutique or an invitingly picturesque restaurant. Don’t miss the renowned Wednesday morning market which sells a range of crafts as well as fine local produce.
Nature lovers will relish the biodiversity of Les Alpilles Natural Park which also offers opportunities for climbing, hiking, mountain biking and horse riding along its many well marked trails. The hills provide a wonderful backdrop to an area renowned for its stretches of verdant vineyards, olive groves, Van Gogh cypresses, orchards and summer swathes of sunflowers. There are some exquisite hilltop villages in the park such as Eygalières, a favourite with celebrities, or Les Baux-de-Provence, picturesquely perched on the rocky hillside and one of France’s officially classified ‘Plus Beaux Villages’.
There are more glorious landscapes and opportunities for adventure in the Luberon region with its mountains, gorges, caves, vineyards, orchards, woods and lavender fields, perfect landscapes for hikes and gentle rambles. In the foothills of the Monts de Vaucluse, Gordes is another of the most beautiful hilltop villages in France with white stone houses set into the mountain cliffs. To arrive there you have the joy of travelling across a landscape of almond, olive and fig trees, dry stone walls and pretty farmhouses, a real taste of Provençal delights.
Take a break from these wonderful landscapes and head northwards towards the lively city of Avignon with its winding medieval streets, UNESCO World Heritage sites and covered markets with all kinds of fascinating local foods and treasures.
You may prefer to travel to the historic city of Arles and drive onwards to the wonders of the Camargue Regional Park with its wild horses and pink flamingos.
Slightly further afield, Nîmes is one of the most attractive towns in Mediterranean France, a city established by the Romans with many well preserved remains and a lovely old town and gardens.
