Maison En Pierre enjoys the most incredible setting within the Provençal countryside, close to the rugged peaks of the Regional Park of the Alpilles. With an expansive garden offering plenty of outdoor living spaces and private swimming pools, this home really lends itself to outdoor living and to spending afternoons wandering the streets of the charming French villages nearby.

The closest village to the house is Mollégès which is only 2km away, meaning you will not have to travel far to the nearest shop or café. The village is small, but boasts a selection of bakeries, restaurants and a small supermarket, so it is really handy to have so close to home. On top of these amenities in the immediate vicinity of the house, you can also access a wide range of natural sites and outdoor attractions. Whether you are wine lover who would enjoy a tour and wine tasting at a local vineyard or prefer adrenaline-fuelled fun such as mountain biking, climbing and kayaking, all are possible near to Maison En Pierre.

In addition to Mollégès, Maison En Pierre is surrounded by little villages and thriving towns which are dotted around the hillsides. One lovely town you can visit is Eyragues which is 13km away. This is a typical Provençal town which is off the usual tourist trails and has a picturesque centre. In the town, you will find shops, cafes and restaurants which line the pretty streets and central square. You can also visit a number of attractions here such as the Saint Bonnet Chapel along with its tombs and gardens. Scattered around the town there are also mills, a large water wheel and the remains of the medieval towers and walls of the town. In the summer months, a wealth of saints’ days, festivals and equestrian events are held here.

Provence is also home to an array of larger towns packed with museums, galleries and shopping streets. One of these is Saint Rémy de Provence which is 9km away from Maison En Pierre. Saint Rémy is a magnet for art-lovers who flock here to visit the museums, galleries and former home of Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh who spent a year of his life here during the 19th century. Van Gogh boarded in a tiny, cell-like room in the magical Saint-Paul-de-Mausole which is a monastery built in the 1200s, it was here that the painter produced over 100 art works based on the sun-drenched squares and picturesque streets of the town. If you are interested in seeing some of the locations in the paintings, you could book on to a guided tour.

For an even wider range of shops, eateries and cultural attractions, you could take day trips to cities such as Avignon or Arles which are each under 35km away. Avignon is known for its links with the Papacy and here you can visit the Papal palace, while in Arles, you can see some incredible Roman monuments and ruins.
