Book Now & Grow Green: 3 Trees Planted with Every Booking!

This Earth Day, join our mission to plant 3 trees for every booking made between April 22nd - 28th, 2024. Let's make a sustainable impact together! Learn more about our journey here >>

In a bucolic Provençal setting, surrounded by pines, truffle oaks, olive trees and lavender, Maison Des Petits Galets is a beautiful holiday home in the heart of the glorious Luberon.

Dating back to the 18th century, this former farmhouse has been renovated with such authentic style alongside contemporary interior design. Light floods in to the open-plan living and dining room with its high-end furnishings, Apple TV and Bose speakers. Sliding doors open out to the most characterful courtyard, a lovely place for al-fresco dining by the pretty fountain and olive tree.

The bedrooms are just as gorgeous, especially the king-size double with its high ceilings, elegant décor and luxurious free-standing bath. Each of the bedrooms has been individually styled and furnished and they all have their own shower or bath – the clawfoot tub in the downstairs double is another particularly lovely feature.
Outside, there’s ample space to feast with family and friends and the relaxing swimming pool, which can be heated if needed, will delight all ages. Step through the little wooden gate and be greeted with views of the Luberon massif from the vast parkland surrounding the maison and its garden.

Just under 2km away is a beautifully preserved medieval hilltop village where you can wander around its steep narrow lanes and find a pretty terraced café for a bite to eat. Ménerbes is also a short drive away, another idyllic village surrounded by vineyards and cherry orchards whilst Bonnieux, Roussillon and Van Gogh’s beloved Gordes are also close enough for a leisurely lunch out.

The Luberon also offers atmospheric Farmer markets selling all sorts of Provençal delights as well as captivating cycle and walking trails through woodland, hills, olive groves and fields of lavender. Seek out antiques in charming L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue or hire kayaks along the river near Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. Spend time visiting magical towns and cities such as Avignon and Aix-en-Provence, always returning to the tranquility and beauty of your historic Luberon home.

Maison Des Petits Galets has wonderful views of the Luberon massif from its surrounding land. It is situated just under 2km from a gorgeous village and within a short drive to other Luberon gems such as Ménerbes, Bonnieux and Roussillon.

The local village, a 5-minute drive away, features the ruins of an 11th century castle alongside many charming stone houses which have been beautifully restored. Wander around its narrow lanes and stop off for a coffee or something to eat in a café or restaurant. It really is an atmospheric place to explore.

Ménerbes (5km) is also within a short drive, another idyllic medieval village which was the setting for Peter Mayle’s ‘A Year in Provence’. Surrounded by cherry orchards and vineyards, its hilltop setting is magical and there are some lovely restaurants and cafes as well as a vibrant Thursday morning market.

Other glorious Luberon villages such as Bonnieux (8km), Roussillon (13km) and Gordes (16km) are all within easy reach for a wonderful day trip or head out on foot or bike to discover the magnificent landscapes of vineyards, lavender fields and rolling hills – no wonder this region has inspired so many artists and writers over the years.

Market-lovers should drive north to the historic town of Apt (18km) on a Saturday morning for its amazing Provençal market which is known to be one of the best in the region. L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (23km) is worthy of a visit on a Sunday with its brilliant flea market and little antique shops. The Sorgue is also a wonderful river for kayaking and canoeing, especially around Fontaine-de-Vaucluse.

Other fantastic days out in Provence include the historic city of Avignon (45km) and the beautiful University town of Aix-en-Provence, about an hour away. Gorgeous villages and towns can also be found scattered across Les Alpilles Regional Nature Park such as Saint-Rémy, Eygalières and Les Baux-de-Provence.

Adventurous families will love the Luberon region with its gorgeous landscapes ideal for walking, cycling and horse-riding. Rock-climbing is also popular, especially around the village of Buoux.

Hiring kayaks or canoes along the Sorgue river in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse is another special experience or youngsters may prefer to seek out treasure in the antique shops and Sunday morning market in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.

Fontaine-de-Vaucluse is also the home of a tree-top activity centre with various activities for children as young as three (height restrictions apply).

Another lovely day out is a visit to the zoo in La Barben, around an hour away, where you will find many animals and reptiles as well as a playground.

Heading towards Carpentras, two more family attractions include Le Jarditrain with its model railways and the theme park Parc Spirou Provence, both under an hour by car.

  • Our holiday in Provence

    on 29/07/2017

We had a two week holiday at this beautiful house in the summer and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The location was perfect for exploring Provence and we were able to completely relax. The owner and the cleaning team were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The house is stunning, especially the master bedroom. The air conditioning very welcome. We would thoroughly recommend staying at this property and hope we will be able to spend a holiday there again.

  • Love this house

    on 11/06/2017

A superb old farmhouse, extremely well decorated to the highest standards, managing to combine a chic look with outstanding comfort and convenience. The location is both rural but allows easy access to local amenities. The Luberon is a delightful and interesting area of southern France.

  • Peaceful stay

    on 19/05/2017

We've spent 3 weeks in that beautiful and peaceful place. The house is very well managed and with a great team to welcome you. The environment is calm with a great view: the Luberon hill and oaks all around the house. Our kids loved the heated swimming pool. I'd strongly recommend the suite papillon that is incredible. I'll come back again next year.

  • Outstanding stay

    on 02/09/2016

We spent a week at this amazing farmhouse - everything was exactly as per the pictures on the website. We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful stay. Conveniently located, we ate in wonderful restaurants and cycled through the spectacular countryside. The house was clean, comfortable and didn't lack anything we needed. Our every need was taken care of and we had the most memorable stay. We were a party of 4 adults and 3 children- and every one of us had the best time. Thank you for a wonderful stay in this beautiful home.
