Just 1km away from the centre of the much-loved town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, you will have everything you need on your doorstep during your stay and can also take day trips to other nearby towns and cities such as Avignon and Arles.

Spread over one level, La Maison Fleurie is a sociable villa which would suit a family or a couples travelling together. The home is beautifully decorated in neutral tones which is accentuated by the art works and antiques which have been carefully placed by the owners. This is a real home away from home, brimming with charm and character and is somewhere that is perfectly equipped for modern life, with everything you could possibly need, from Wi-Fi to a coffee machine.

The living room, dining space and kitchen are all in one large, open-plan room, meaning that you can be cooking and chatting with loved ones at the same time. There is plenty of seating space in the living area with two sofas and two armchairs gathered around the TV and looking out over the vast garden. The kitchen is fully fitted and has all you need for cooking up the goods you buy at the market to create some delicious French dishes. You could dine here in the kitchen or at one of the numerous tables in the garden.

When you wish to turn in for the night, there are two spacious double bedrooms here with crisp linen and views over the garden. If you are travelling as a party of six, you can also make use of the comfy sofa bed within the office room which can sleep two. These rooms share a good-sized family bathroom with a walk-in shower.

Outdoors, you will be thrilled to find such a fantastic garden so close to the town centre. With high walls for your privacy, the garden is an idyll where you can unwind and lounge in the sun. The whole space is filled with pretty pots of flowers and lush green vines covering the walls. The focal point of the whole garden is the private swimming pool, the perfect place for cooling down on a hot day! The garden also boasts an al-fresco dining terrace and a covered lounge area.

As the centre of town is only around 1km away, you do not have far to go to pick up fresh pastries for breakfast and to sip your morning coffee. Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is a picturesque town with plenty to keep you occupied, here you can see ancient churches and streets packed with market stalls. Whether you wish to dine on local Provencal cuisine or tuck in to international dishes, you can find a great selection of eateries lining the winding lanes. There are also many museums and art galleries to visit, including the Ethnographic Museum and Musée Estrine: Présence Van Gogh which is a modern art gallery featuring art works by Vincent Van Gogh.

Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is a typically French town which is not overrun with tourists, despite having plenty to see and do. The gorgeous streets here open out on to lively town squares filled with fountains and floral displays, making this a wonderful place to simply wander around and soak in the atmosphere. Art and history lovers will be right at home on a trip to Saint-Rémy as the town has a rich history and an artistic heritage. While strolling around, you can take in sights such as Roman ruins, The 12th century Saint-Martin collegiate church and the Monastery of Saint Paul-de-Mausole. You may also be interested to know that the town is the birthplace of famed Royal astrologer and seer Nostradamus; in town you can take a tour to learn more about him or visit his former home.

Another famous former resident of the town is Vincent Van Gogh, who spent a year living here in a small room within the monastery which also served as an asylum. The Dutch artist produced over 100 paintings during his time here, you can see the places that inspired these by picking up an audio guide and doing the Van Gogh walk or you can visit the numerous museums related to him. On top of all of these attractions, Saint-Rémy also has all of the facilities and amenities you would need while on holiday, including boutique shops, bustling markets, cafes and restaurants.

Just outside of the town, you can explore the expansive parkland which makes up the Regional Park of the Alpilles. This vast, mountainous and forested area is a fabulous place to visit if you enjoy spending time outside in nature. Here you can hike, cycle, go horse riding, take climbing lessons or even book a hot air balloon ride over the patchwork of fields, there is plenty to do here in this breathtaking area. The area is also well-known for its fresh produce and its wines, so you could always spend a day visiting local farms and vineyards for wine tastings and to purchase some delicious local goods.

If you would like to visit another one of Provence’s amazing towns and cities, why not give Avignon a try? The enchanting city is just 25km away and yet has a completely different feel to it to Saint-Rémy. Avignon is known for its connection to the papacy and is one of the region’s star attractions. During the 14th-century, the popes temporarily moved here to Avignon and today you can still see their incredible palace known as the The Palais des Papes. You can also take scenic boat trips along the River Rhône, do some shopping and visit a great range of museums.

In the midst of the Alpilles mountains, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is a beautiful, typically Provencal town which is a lovely place to spend a holiday with children. You can easily pass a number of days in the town just pottering around museums and galleries and sipping coffee in the pretty squares as the kids run around by the fountains and play on the fantastic playground. This is an idyllic place where you can take things slowly.

The town and nearby surroundings are also full of attractions you can take the kids to, including the ruins of the Roman town of Glanum. The town hails from 2500BC, so kids can get a real feel for antiquity here as they wander around the ancient homes, mausoleums, and bath houses. The views over the landscape are really impressive from here too.
