Manoir Navacelle

Sleeps: 6 Bedrooms: 4 Bathrooms: 2

Pool Pets Welcome

This villa in Languedoc has a rich and storied history - built as a monastery in the 16th century, it is now a portal to gorgeous family holidays. If you have a love for simpler times, the wide stone walls of the house will speak to you. That’s not to say you’ll forgo modern comforts here - the swimming pool on the stone terrace outside lends a private resort air.

Here the architecture elevates this 3 bedroom family villa to something special. From the ancient stone stairs to the stained glass window in the bathroom, this home has character to spare. The living room feels almost like an underground cavern; the low, arched ceiling makes a snug family movie night.

Nestled between the Cévennes National Park and Provence, this holiday villa is a true rural escape. Hikers will be most at home, and local caverns may interest the whole family (try Grottes de Trabuc, 45 minutes from the villa). The closest quaint town is a drive away - Salindres (8 km). If you’re aching for more metropolitan delights, head to Uzès (23 km), where you can find beautiful restaurants and shopping (look for the market on Wednesdays and Saturdays).

Oliver Approved

What Oliver loves…

  • Original doors and rough-hewn stone walls lend this 16th century villa in Languedoc character you won’t find elsewhere.
  • You’re quite near Le Parc Naturel des Cévennes (40 km), an enormous natural wonder.
  • The cool blue swimming pool and gardens will keep the children playing outdoors!

What you should know…

  • This is a truly secluded and peaceful place - you’ll require a car rental to get into town and to explore the parks.
  • The nearest airport is 60 km away in Montpellier.

The ground floor is composed of a sitting room, a dinning room and a kitchen with original vault ceiling that, thanks to the wide walls, still stays cool during the hot summers. A stone staircase to the first floor leads to a large bedroom, a smaller one (both with double beds) and a large bathroom with antique tiles. The second floor has the same configuration, with a supplementary single bed  in the larger room. In front of the house you can have lunch and dinner under a large micocoulier tree (one of the oldest three of this region!) The 15m pool has just been totally renovated is only a few meters from the house.

Languedoc-Roussillon is one of those areas of France where you can feel like you’re totally cut off from the rest of the country. Commercial tourism has been very slow to capitalise on the region, meaning you can still enjoy a slice of authentic French rural life at its finest. A mixture of landscapes also makes it a great place to visit, with a good stretch of coastline offering a totally different experience to more bucolic interiors. Whatever you’re looking for, our range of villas and chateaux in Languedoc means you can get exactly the kind of holiday you want with accommodation that’s perfectly tailored to you, your friends and your family.

  • Thank you once again

Posted by Joost V on 19/10/2015

We would like to thank you for the wonderful holiday we enjoyed again last year in Navacelles. This house is a heaven on earth. We stayed here twice over the last 3 years (not 3 times only because we were too late to book). Very quiet, wonderful views and still close enough to restaurants and shops. Everything the website promised us was there. The house is superbly decorated and has a wonderful garden and pool. The kids (and the parents) had their highlight of the year again. We won't tell anyone how nice this place is:-). We ll be back soon...

  • In every other way Manoir Navacelle is an absolute treasure

As you know we have stayed in your house twice. It really is an exceptional property and in terms of facilities, location and aesthetic qualities we could not fault it. The views are fantastic, the pool is perfect and the house itself brimming with character – not to mention that every lamp works, as do the showers and all utensils.

  • Thank you!
