Situated outside the village of Tourves, this splendid four-bedroom bastide accommodates up to eight guests in traditional Provencal style. A warm, spacious living area with tasteful furnishings greets guests as they enter the house, while large windows and French doors invite floods of natural light.
Adjacent to the living area is a well-appointed kitchen, a place where culinary inspiration from the surrounding Provencal countryside and modern appliances come together. Whether you’re throwing together a Mediterranean salad or preparing a feast for family and friends, delicious meals will be enjoyed at the dining table or, better yet, al fresco.
On the ground floor you’ll find the first of four bedrooms. With a double bed and en suite, this space is easily accessible. Heading upstairs, there are three more bedrooms, one with a double bed, another with a queen-sized bed and en suite, and the last containing two single beds. This floor hosts a further shower and separate WC.
But Bastide Du Bois truly comes into its own when you step outside onto the expansive terrace and take in the abode’s sprawling manicured garden. The inviting swimming pool, framed by hanging grape vines, palms, ferns and olive trees, allows guests to cool off on warm afternoons. The garden itself, a pleasant grove of strolling paths and calming fauna, gives the terrace a sense of peace and privacy.

About the surrounding area of Bastide Du BoisNestled in a residential area just outside the quaint village of Tourves in the heart of Provence, Bastide Du Bois is a quintessential slice of the French countryside. Just a three-minute drive from the village’s cobblestone streets, the bastide has ready access to a supermarket, cafes, restaurants, bakeries, shops, and even a local museum.
The nearby city of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume sits at the foot of the Sainte-Baume mountains and is well worth a visit, particularly for its Sainte Marie Madeleine Basilica, the largest gothic edifice in Provence. Numerous hiking trails exploring the area’s renowned caves can also be found here, including the Grotte de la Sainte Baume where Mary Magdalene is said to have spent her last years. The region is also dotted with myriad vineyards and wineries, presenting the perfect opportunity for wine enthusiasts to savour the local terroir.
Stretching a little further afield, the regional centres of Aubagne and Aix-en-Provence are certainly worth the day trip to explore. As the painter Paul Cézanne said of his hometown, Aix-en-Provence, to be born there is hopeless, for “nothing else compares.”
The closest sandy beach is called Le Pradon Carqueiranne, just east of Toulon.

For a family-friendly day of fun, the Magic World amusement park (1-hour drive) is a great option. The theme park is located very close to a number of bright, sandy beaches. So pack your beach gear for a day spent on the shores of the Mediterranean before making a move to Magic World for a fun-filled evening.
The Sainte-Baume Natural Regional Park (20-minute drive), and indeed the extensive cave trails surrounding Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, offer amazing access to Provence’s natural wonder. With breathtaking views from tiny chapels on cliff edges, rolling vineyards like green corduroy and even ancient Roman remains, this area is great for hiking or mountain biking.
