Overview

Wedding Venue Recommended Pool Walk to Village Stag/Hen Allowed

Set within verdant Pays du Bocage hillsides near the timeless village, this chateau in the Pays de Loire is an independent wing of an enchanting medieval castle and dates back to the time of Louis XIII. Though a wonderful family holiday retreat, it also makes for a truly a spellbinding wedding venue.

Blending modern day comforts with old-world features, the Chateau Des Poetes Pavilion provides six elegantly designed bedroom suites across two floors, including special accommodations in a converted 17th century defense tower, and an impressive king suite with a separate entrance and kitchenette.

Among such an extravagant setting, guests will still feel at home in the cozy living space beside the ancient stone fireplace and while enjoying meals made in the open, modern kitchen in the traditional dining room opening to the terrace.

With 15 hectares of parkland, gorgeous French gardens surrounded by ancient castle ruins, and a luxurious pool within the vast estate, a stay at this French chateau is sure to captivate. If hosting a large-scale wedding, consider renting the second castle wing, Chateau Des Poetes Keep in tandem with the Pavilion. Also, be sure to visit the famous Puy du Fou theme park - it's just 8km away.

The owners live in the main part of the castle and they rent 2 historical wings of the large castle: the XVIIth century Chateau Des Poetes Keep and (or) the medieval Chateau Des Poetes Pavilion. Each house has its independent entrance, a private garden or terrace. Please contact us for further details.

Note: advertised prices are based for up to 12 guests. The Pavilion sleeps up to 16 guests in extra beds in the bedrooms at a surcharge of €80 per person per week. The owner allows a maximum of two small children/babies and up to three older children/teenagers.

Good news! For a little extra, this property can be booked as a Vill’otel

  • Wonderful Time!

Posted by Tessa H. and the 14 others on our party on 14/08/2018

We have had such a lovely time at Chateau Des Poetes Pavilion. We have been made extremely welcome, lent a beautiful pewter container for flowers so our anniversary table would look festive, along with some delicious bubbly for starters.. All problems were ironed out before we arrived ...thank you!
It is certainly a place we will recommend...along with you too.

  • It was Wonderful!

    Erika,
We want to thank you so so much for the visit to your castle. We all really needed a break away and we LOVED the environment and the history and the chance to hear your family story. Please know that we are very grateful and loved every single minute. The children loved the chocolate mousse and the adults love the castle tour.

    Thanks

Lovely, clean and comfortable. Excellent equipment in the kitchen - everything you could possibly need. The owners were extremely attentive and helpful. All the facilities excellent, the pool and grounds are beautiful. My family of ten people had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this venue for a relaxing holiday.

  • A French Castle Now Open To All!

Posted by Danny Hakkim in the New York Times on 09/07/2015

As bed-and-breakfasts go, it cuts a striking figure, with its towers and medieval tapestries and ancestral portraits, set among trees imported from around the world in the early 1800s, including American cedars and sequoias.

The castle is filled with upholstered chairs, chandeliers, richly decorated wallpaper and fancy clocks. There was a statuette of a tiger under an oil painting of the Madonna and Child, flanked by Chinese urns. In one room there was a rather severe-looking portrait of an ancestor, Stanslas Vignial, the president of the royal court in Bordeaux in the mid-1800s, imposing in black-and-crimson jurist robes.
