Expect contemporary interiors and fantastic features at this stylish 4-bedroom villa in the Côte d'Azur, a short walk from beaches and restaurants.

Villa Faucon is a newly built air-conditioned abode set on a quiet residential road just outside the heart of Bandol, an atmospheric seaside resort on the French Riviera. The interiors are modern and bright with a spacious lounge and dining area with sliding windows leading straight out to the inviting swimming pool and decked terrace. A pretty pergola, reached via the open-plan kitchen, allows you to enjoy al-fresco meals on warm summer evenings.

Across three floors, there is an impressive cinema room downstairs whilst four double bedrooms await, each with their own dressing area, en suite bathroom and WC. One of the bedrooms has its own private terrace where you can catch a glimpse of the sea, perhaps accompanied by a glass of chilled AOC Bandol from local vineyards.

It’s lovely to be able to walk into the heart of Bandol with its palm-lined harbourfront, town beaches, restaurants, shops and daily market (plus a larger one on a Tuesday morning). On the edge of Bandol you will find the idyllic bay, Plage de Renécros, a beautiful spot for swimming and snorkelling. Follow Le Sentier du Littoral hiking path further along the coastline and discover rocky coves and the most incredible scenery.

Other nearby seaside resorts include picturesque Sanary-sur-Mer and charming Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, both within a 15-minute drive, or venture a little further towards the colourful fishing village of Cassis, the gateway to the Calanques National Park.

Not forgetting the maritime city of Toulon with its historic harbour, markets and cable-car to Mont Faron for glorious vistas of the surrounding landscapes. By contrast, appreciate the natural beauty of Porquerolles, reached via boat from Toulon or La Tour Fondue. Once you arrive on the island, hire bikes and cycle to your heart’s content passing orchards, vineyards, olive groves and eucalyptus trees to reach Caribbean-style beaches for the perfect day out.

In the Var department of southern France, Villa Faucon is just outside the heart of Bandol, an attractive seaside resort on the French Riviera.

Fly into Toulon Hyères Airport (43km), Marseille Airport (79km) or arrive via train at Toulon (20km) – TGV train services take around 4 hours from Paris Gare de Lyon, then there are connecting services onwards to Bandol (1.5km). Car hire is recommended to make the most of the surrounding region.

The villa is in on a private road in a residential area – passing through the neighbourhood and beneath the railway line, you can reach Bandol’s palm-lined promenade within a short walk. Bandol is home to shops, restaurants, charming cafes, a Tuesday morning market as well as one of France’s largest marinas – it’s a busy yet relaxed seaside town which is said to be less pretentious than other resorts dotted along the Côte d'Azur.

Enjoy the sandy beaches and summer watersports in and around Bandol. Perhaps start off at Plage de Renécros (2.5km), an idyllic sheltered bay where you can pick up Le Sentier du Littoral hiking trail towards rocky coves and crystal-clear water. From Bandol’s marina, look out for boats taking you across to the unique privately owned island, Île de Bendor, with its own artist’s village as well as more walks and beaches.  

Drive to Sanary-sur-Mer (10km) to potter around its pretty harbour or partake in watersports around Plage de Bonnegrâce and Plage de la Coudoulière, around a 20-minute drive away, both known for windsurfing when the conditions are right. Continue towards the Janas forest and Six-Four-Les-Plages coastline for more hiking opportunities and stunning scenery. In the height of the summer there are atmospheric markets by the long sandy beach at Plage des Sablettes (20km) near La Seyne-sur-Mer.

Head to the maritime city of Toulon (17km by car or a 15-minute train ride) for a day out exploring its harbourfront, museums, markets and shops. Admire the vistas from Mont Faron (reached via cable car from Toulon) or hop on a ferry across to the gorgeous Porquerolles island where you can hire bikes to reach picture-perfect beaches.

This is a great part of the French Riviera to experience with families. Bandol itself has some lovely beaches as well as restaurants, cafes, an impressive marina (with some small play areas dotted along the harbourfront) and summer boat trips. Families with adventurous older children may enjoy exploring the coastline by following the stunning hiking trail, Le Sentier du Littoral.

Other fantastic beaches in the area can be found around Six-Four-Les-Plages and Sanary-sur-Mer where you can take advantage of perfect wind-surfing conditions when the mistral wind blows. Sandy Plage des Sablettes, just south of La Seyne-sur-Mer, is especially popular with families and hosts a lovely evening market in July and August.

Meanwhile, find mountain biking and hiking trails through the Janas Forest, also home to an adventure centre with nets, slides, tunnels and trampolines. The maritime city of Toulon is another great day out thanks to its museums, boat trips and cable car up to Mont Faron.

Closer to home, ZOA Parc is a zoo on the edge of Bandol near the motorway around a 10-minute drive away. There are also family activities near Circuit Paul Ricard (20km) including tree-top adventures, go-karting and the popular X-Trem Park which is open throughout the year.
