Sitting in a leafy spot in the hills looking out over the Gulf of Saint-Tropez is Villa Pasteur. This home is the perfect place to stay for a trip with friends or family and you will find plenty to see and do close by from relaxing on unspoilt beaches to wandering around medieval streets.

The villa is a spacious, five-bedroom home. The living areas are vast and all connect to each other to create a sociable space to gather in the evenings. The living room boasts comfortable sofas and access out on to the garden, while the fully-fitted kitchen and adjoining dining room are ideal for enjoying meals together. If you really wish to unwind and treat yourself then why not book a chef to prepare sumptuous meals for your party.

There are five boutique-style bedrooms; one of these is an expansive master suite with a large private terrace and a chic bathroom, and the other four bedrooms benefit from en-suite bathrooms.

Outside, the garden is a continuation of the living space as there are lots of different areas for sitting and enjoying the sun. There are outdoor armchairs, sun loungers and a stunning al-fresco dining area on the terrace.

As the home shares its management with the nearby exclusive 5* hotel, you will find everything you need on hand from a concierge service and champagne on arrival to buffet breakfasts. Guests may also access the brilliant facilities at the hotel such as the spa, gym and gourmet restaurant.

You will find a wider range of eateries in Saint-Tropez town which is a mere 4km away, meaning you can be tucking in to a croissant and a coffee in a street-side café in no time at all. There is much more to Saint-Tropez however and the town is steeped in history which can be seen as you wander around the narrow, maze-like streets of the old town which was once defended by its medieval citadel.

If you would prefer to get out on to the water then head over to Riviera water sports which is 7km away and offers sailing lessons, kayaking and windsurfing. The water sports centre is located in the unique, canal town of Port-Grimaud which is much like a little Venice on the Riviera and is all connected by boats and is a lovely place to visit for dinner.

Located in between the hillside village of Gassin and the glamorous town of Saint-Tropez, Villa Pasteur is a perfect base for exploring more of the French Riviera.

The nearest amenities can be found at the hotel which guests have access to. There you can visit for breakfast or book a table at the fine dining restaurant for the evening. During the day you can make use of the luxury spa and indulge in a massage or a facial before lounging in the relaxation area. There is also a gym and personal trainers available for those who enjoy a workout.

One of the main reasons that people visit this area is to spend time on the beaches along the breath-taking coastline. Some of the closest beaches are under 2km away from the house and one of these is Bouillabaisse beach. The most popular and longest beach in the area is Pampelonne beach which is 8km around the coast and is a lovely place to spend a day.

Aside from its beaches, Saint-Tropez is a great town for a spot of shopping; there are a wide range of shops here from small artisan stores to chic designer boutiques. The town also has some brilliant markets - one of the best is held in the atmospheric Place des Lices on a Tuesday and Saturday and sells fresh herbs, local sausages and cheese and delicious pastries. You will also find clothes markets and fish markets around town.

A lesser-known side to Saint Tropez are its rich historical and cultural attractions; the town is topped by a medieval fortress known as the Citadel and the winding streets of the old town are dotted with historic churches such as the Chappelle Sainte Anne.

Aside from central Saint-Tropez, there are plenty more places you can visit close by. You could head in to the hills to explore the pretty village of Gassin which is 6km away, drive over to Port-Grimaud which is a unique village connected by canals 8km away. The large seaside town of Sainte-Maxime is another great place to visit for the day and is 14km away.

Region

Once a traditional fishing village, Saint-Tropez is now one of the most glamourous destinations of the Côte d’Azur and welcomes visitors from across the world.

However, there’s more to Saint-Tropez bay than exclusive beach clubs, glitzy boutiques and fine dining restaurants. From the family-friendly beaches of Sainte-Maxime to the vineyards of La Croix Valmer, Oliver’s Travels guests can truly admire this enchanting corner of the French Riviera whilst staying in one of our handpicked villas in and around Saint-Tropez.

Soak up the luxurious yet laidback vibe of Saint-Tropez as you wander around its marina lined with huge yachts contrasting colourful fishermen’s houses overlooking the bay. The old quarter is a warren of winding lanes with French designer boutiques, picturesque cafes and restaurants whilst Place des Lices hosts a vibrant Provençal market on a Tuesday and Saturday morning. Enjoy the most glorious vistas from Saint-Tropez’s 17th century citadel and maritime museum. Boat trips are another superb way to tour this part of the coast and passenger ferries cross the bay.

Just south of the town, follow Brigitte Bardot’s footsteps as you visit one of Plage de Pampelonne’s exclusive beach clubs, the most famous being Le Club 55 (always book well in advance). Stretching over 5km, Pampelonne’s long sandy beach is also loved for its vast range of summer watersports including jet-skiing, windsurfing and paddleboarding.

The picture-perfect villages of Saint-Tropez bay are beautifully located to make the most of the French Riviera scenery. On the hillside overlooking Plage de Pampelonne, Ramatuelle has attracted artists and writers over the years and is full of charm – look out for performances during its theatre and jazz festivals in the summer months. Meanwhile, hilltop Gassin is classified as one of France’s 'Plus Beaux Villages’ whilst flower-filled Grimaud is such a pretty medieval village with yet more stunning views of the coast.

Driving into the Maures hills, discover the characterful villages of La Garde-Freinet and Le Plan-de-la-Tour surrounded by oak and chestnut forests, a paradise for hikers, mountain bikers, horse-riding enthusiasts and other outdoor adventurists.

Back to the coast, take a boat tour of Port Grimaud, known as the ‘little Venice of the Côte d’Azur’, and experience its atmospheric Monday evening summer market. Across the other side of the bay, Sainte-Maxime is a lovely sheltered seaside town with pretty cafes, a daily market and gorgeous beaches. Families adore this area – there are tree-top adventures, tennis, mini-golf, a water park and coastal paths for biking and hiking.

Golf-lovers can appreciate a choice of courses – Golf Blue Green as well as the prestigious Beauvallon Golf Club and Golf Club Saint-Tropez. Wine connoisseurs should head to the wine châteaux of Saint-Tropez and Pampelonne as well as the vineyards of La Croix Valmer.

Not forgetting the idyllic shores of soft sand and crystal-clear sea of La Croix Valmer’s coastline from Plage de Sylvabelle to Plage de Gigaro, also home to a wonderful coastal walking trail with the most incredible flora and fauna alongside sensational views of the Mediterranean as you hike towards Cap Lardier and beyond.
