This 19th century maison in the heart of Bandol has been beautifully renovated to create a wonderful holiday villa for up to 12 guests with a swimming pool, just a short stroll from one of the town’s prettiest beaches.
Guests will be impressed by Maison L’Amiral’s interiors which are both stylish and elegant. A large window on the ground floor slides open to the poolside terrace, perfect for a morning coffee by the trailing bougainvillea or dipping into the inviting swimming pool. On the first floor, admire the gorgeously tiled floor, ornate ceilings and classic furnishings of the living-dining space, then step out to the large upper terrace. At the very top of the house the balcony has views over the rooftops and pine trees towards the glistening Mediterranean.
Across three floors, the six bedrooms are perfectly simple in style - a fusion of graceful pieces of furniture alongside light colours and original features, each one with its own bath or shower room. The kitchen is bright and modern with a door leading to the decked terrace – walk round to the al-fresco dining table and serve meals to enjoy outdoors with family and friends.
You may prefer to dine out in Bandol, after all the quayside lined with restaurants and palm trees is less than a 10-minute walk away. It’s an incredibly charming seaside town with an air of authenticity as you explore its shops, terrace cafes, marina and little market selling seafood, fruit, vegetables and other regional delights.
Even closer is an idyllic bay, known to be Bandol’s most attractive beach, with sandy shores and gently shelving water. Keen walkers note the villa’s close proximity to the ‘Sentier du Littoral’, a challenging coastal walking trail which continues as far as Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer. There are also ample opportunities to sample the AOC wines of Bandol’s many vineyards which produce one of the finest rosés in the south of France.
Further afield, visit the delightful harbour town of Sanary-sur-Mer and its fantastic beach for watersports, play golf in stunning surroundings at Fregate Provence Golf & Country Club, spend the day learning about Toulon’s maritime heritage or discover the city’s ‘green lung’ as you hike, bike or horse ride through the Janas forest.

Maison L’Amiral is located in the charming seaside resort of Bandol, around 19km from Toulon and within easy reach of many pretty coastal villages and towns along this part of the French Riviera.
Close to a large nature park, the villa enjoys a residential setting around 100m from one of Bandol’s most beautiful bays which is especially popular with families thanks to its sandy shores and clear water. The heart of Bandol is just a little further – within 800m you can be wandering along the harbourside admiring sailing boats and yachts as children enjoy the summer amusements and play areas beneath the pine trees.
Bandol is one of the French Riviera’s most authentic seaside towns. Restaurants line the marina alongside towering palm trees and there’s a bustling little market on Place de la Liberté selling seafood and all sorts of other regional produce. A larger market can be found along the quayside on a Tuesday morning.
Find a range of summer watersports on the beaches in and around Bandol as well as boat trips across to the private Île de Bendor, a unique island with an artist’s village as well as some wonderful walks and beaches. Back on the mainland, keen walkers can follow the famous ‘Sentier du Littoral’ trail which continues as far as Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, taking in the amazing coastal scenery.
Other delightful resorts within a short drive include Sanary-sur-Mer (8km) with its pretty harbour and lovely weekly market, and the relaxed fishing town of La Seyne-sur-Mer (16km), the gateway to the picturesque peninsula of Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer. Look out for summer night markets taking place at Plage des Sablettes (20km), another gorgeous beach along this stretch of the Côte d'Azur.
If the mistral wind is strong then windsurfers should head south towards Plage de la Coudoulière whilst Sanary-sur-Mer’s Plage de Bonnegrâce is another popular spot for watersport enthusiasts. Experience yet more outdoor adventures in La Forêt de Janas, a paradise for hikers, mountain bikers and horse riders in an area classified as a Natura 2000 site, also considered the ‘green lung’ of Toulon.
Indeed, Toulon (19km) is a fantastic trip out, a city with a rich Maritime heritage that is also home to shops, museums and some excellent restaurants. Take the cable car up to Mont Faron for superb views of the region or take a ferry across to the peaceful and idyllic Îles d'Hyères.
Heading west, the seaside village of Cassis (28km) awaits, such a picture-perfect place for lunch out and the gateway to the Parc national des Calanques, best explored by foot or boat.
Furthermore, don’t miss the opportunity to taste the AOC wines of Bandol across one of its many vineyards and wineries – the region’s rosé is regarded as one of the finest in southern France.
