Perched high above the Mediterranean, La Bastide Du Palais is an elegant villa set within a prestigious domaine between Toulon and Hyères. Paths lead all the way through the estate down to an idyllic creek with sea access and summer watersports.
This attractive, air-conditioned holiday home features seven en suite bedrooms for up to 14 guests alongside a contemporary living and dining space with an open-plan kitchen. Doors open straight out to a delightful terrace for al-fresco meals whilst the ‘swimming lane’ is perfect for cooling off in the warm summer sun.
Every morning a breakfast basket is delivered to you and daily maid service is also included. Other personalised services that can be pre-arranged by the estate’s concierge include a private chef and catering, boat tours, yoga and wellness activities.
Beyond your garden, follow the steps and paths down through the pine trees until you reach the very end of the domaine where there’s a rocky creek and access to the sparkling sea. Take advantage of the estate’s own nautical centre which can organise seasonal paddle-boarding, kite-surfing and more.
Venture beyond the estate and come across characterful ports and harbourside towns such as Carqueiranne and Sanary-sur-Mer or pack a picnic and follow hiking trails, admiring the coastal landscapes and woodland of this region.
The Giens Peninsula is perfect for long sandy beaches and more summer watersports or hop on a ferry to the gorgeous beaches and scenery of the Îles d'Hyères, an absolute paradise for cyclists, walkers and nature lovers.
The charming town of Hyères is another lovely day out, as is the maritime city of Toulon. You could even drive as far as the exclusive beach clubs of Plage de Pampelonne and Saint Tropez, or simply appreciate the beauty of the French Riviera close to your wonderful holiday home.
What you should know…
- La Bastide Du Palais is part of a large domaine but with its own garden and entrance. It is next to the prestigious Palais De L’Ocean and its gardens. On the other side of the Palais is Le Cottage Du Palais - both properties can be booked separately.
- There is also shared access to a creek and summer watersports, located at the very bottom of the domaine reached via steps/paths/rocks.

Location
About the surrounding area of La Bastide Du PalaisSet above the coast between Toulon and Hyères, with direct access to the Mediterranean below, La Bastide Du Palais is located in the Var region of southern France.
The villa is part of a large estate also featuring neighbouring Palais De l’Ocean and, on the other side, Le Cottage Du Palais. Each with their own gardens, they all share access to the rocky creek at the very bottom of the domaine, via paths and steps (rocky at times) - it takes just over 10 minutes. Various on-site watersports (such as stand-up paddle boarding, diving, wing-foiling, kite-surfing) can be arranged via the estate's own nautical centre.
Within a short drive you will reach a couple of local villages (each one around 2.5km away) with a handful of restaurants and shops as well as a supermarket. Look out for one of the village’s town halls by a fountain and pretty park.
As you explore this coastline you will discover steep pebble coves alongside slightly longer beaches backed by summer cafes offering canoeing and other summer watersports. The picturesque port at Carqueiranne is a pleasant spot for lunch, close to the iconic Plage des Pins Penchés with its leaning pines. Keen hikers will be pleased to know there are some incredible coastal and woodland trails in this region. Sport lovers note that this region offers horse-riding and mountain biking opportunities as well as golf.
The Giens Peninsula features a number of beaches including windy Plage de l'Almanarre (14km), much-loved by kite-surfers, and the gentler sandy shores of Plage La Bergerie (19km). The vast salt marshes at the Étang des Pesquiers are a paradise for bird-watchers.
There are several boats and ferries departing from La Tour Fondue, Toulon and sometimes Le Pradet taking you to the car-free island of Porquerolles. Hire bikes and explore this peaceful place, coming across wonderful beaches, vineyards and woodland.
Hyères is another lovely day out with its vibrant weekly market, charming old town, restaurants and attractive parks whilst the port city of Toulon is ideal for guests looking to learn all about the region’s fascinating maritime heritage.

Best Suited For: TeensClose to the attractions of both Toulon and Hyères, there is lots across this part of the French Riviera for a variety of ages.
A range of water-based activities can be seasonally arranged via the domaine. As you drive along the coast you will also come across other steep coves as well as longer stretches of beach backed by summer restaurants, some offering watersports such as canoeing or sailing. Kite-surfing and wind-surfing are also popular pursuits in this area.
Keen kite-surfers will love windy Plage de l'Almanarre on one side of the Giens peninsula whilst families with younger children may prefer the gently shelving and sandy beach at Plage La Bergerie, backed by the Étang des Pesquiers, fantastic for bird-spotting.
Another lovely day out is the island of Porquerolles, one of the Îles d'Hyères, reached via ferry from La Tour Fondue or Toulon (and summer departures from Le Pradet). Hire bikes to explore this beautiful island with its gorgeous beaches and landscapes of vineyards and forests.
Close to Port de Hyères, the funfair at Magicworld usually opens in the evening from mid-June to early September whilst Kiddy Parc, open summer weekends, features tree-top adventures, soft-play and family rides.
