The warm climate and the inspiring landscape of the Cote d’Azur and French Riviera have long been associated with luxury and glamour, attracting famed personalities from F. Scott Fitzgerald to Brigitte Bardot. Those lucky enough to be following in their footsteps will soon understand the eternal appeal of this wonderful part of Southern France.

There’s a lot to do – so we’ve listed a few of our top day trips so you can get the best out of your time.

1. Dive off Golfe-Juan

Golfe-Juan is located between Antibes and Cannes. At the small locally run 5* PADI dive school you can book half-day or full-day trips and see what lies beneath the glittering blue sea. Diamond Diving is located two minutes from the train station or is easily accessible by car.
If you decide to spend the rest of your day in the town itself, you can sample local fare at the highly recommended Bistro du Port, famed for its fish and excellent service. Stay at the Villa Mirabelle to enjoy the quiet of the Riviera villages, only a 20-minute drive from Cannes.

2. Cycle around Nice

Nice in France

Nice, France

Swot up on your history as you cycle around Nice with a friendly and knowledgeable guide. Open to anyone who can ride a bike, you’ll be able to see much more in this way than by walking or from a tour bus. The pace is leisurely, and only takes 3 hours, after which you return your custom-fit bicycle and are free to sample Nice’s nightlife.
The Villa Azure provides the perfect base to begin your exploration, situated within good distance to Nice and the beautiful beaches on the French Riviera.

3. Hike to Eze-sur-Mer

Eze-sur-mer France

Eze-sur-Mer, France

Take the train or the bus from Nice to Eze-Sur-Mer and walk up the very well-sign-posted Nietzsche Path, which takes about an hour and fifteen walking at a fair pace.
The views all the way up and down the trail are worth the work-out – and make sure you visit the botanical Jardin d’Eze before you leave.
There are unique shops all the way up (or down) and this hike will make you feel you really deserve any dinner you eat on your return!
