Some French homes instantly transport their guests to quintessentially French locations like in a holiday brochure. Maison Lavande is one of those homes. Scents of lavender and pine greet you as you arrive at this classic villa with mesmerizing views of the surrounding landscape.
This home could not have been more blessed with its South of France location. It commands an elevated position tucked away in the hills just above Cannes and Antibes, just a two-minute drive from a French village and with picturesque Valbonne only a 10-minute drive away (and Mougins a further 20 minutes). Just 25-30 minutes away are some of the region’s jewels; the famous Côte d’Azur towns of Nice and Cannes, the beaches of Juan les Pins and Cannes, the perfume houses of Grasse and the charming medieval villages of St Paul de Vence and Gourdon.
The house sits prettily in its envelope of climbing plants and thick and fragrant Mediterranean flowers, shrubs and majestic trees. Charming blue shutters peak through the foliage and invite you to discover the indoors where an elegant and classic French interior provides plenty of space for all the family. Fittings and furnishings are of high quality and every effort has been made to create a stylish and warm ambience with lovely fire places, beautiful antiques and lots of personal touches. This is a real home-away-from-home.

About the surrounding area of Maison LavandeMaison Lavande commands an elevated position tucked away in the hills of Provence, just above the glistening Côte d’Azur with the beautiful beaches of the French Riviera only a 20-minute drive away. Only a couple of minutes drive to the charming restaurants, boulangerie, supermarket and even tennis courts in the local village, Maison Lavande is the perfect spot to explore the Riviera.
There are some excellent golf courses in the area such as the beautiful Golf Opio Valbonne (5km) as well as the famous Royal Mougins (17km) within half an hour. The region also offers horse-riding within a fifteen-minute drive, some amazing hiking and cycling trails as well as a climbing centre popular with children near Villeneuve-Loubet.
In this rural part of Provence, other idyllic villages surround you such as Valbonne (7km), Opio (8km) and Mougins (14km). Grasse (13km) is a 20-minute drive away, a wonderful town known for its perfume heritage and vivid fields of lavender. Be sure to visit on market day to pick up some wonderful produce. The artistic village of St Paul de Vence (12km) with the famous Maeght Foundation is just a 20-minute drive away or head even further inland to the rugged interior and enjoy spectacular views of the whole riviera from Gourdon (17km).
Along the coast, the stylish and chic city of Cannes (20km) is just a short drive where you can experience the splendour of La Croisette, the glamourous promenade as well as its many beaches and vibrant nightclubs. A little further south at Théoule-sur-Mer (32km) you can enjoy the beach with its wonderful red cliffs. Beautiful Nice (25km) is also a great day trip or head a little further south to Villefranche-sur-Mer (30km) where you can walk up to the stunning Saint Jean Cap Ferrat peninsula, an unmissable day out.
Families will love the beaches and watersports in Antibes (19km), as well as the water parks and funfairs in and around the town. When in Antibes, be sure to visit the old town.

Region
Fall in love with Grasse and its surrounding villages as you experience the Côte d’Azur hinterland staying in one of our handpicked villa rentals in and around Grasse. Pass lavender, jasmine, roses and flower farms as you drive into the hills of the Provence-Alpes-Maritime – no wonder Grasse is known as the ‘perfume capital of France’.
As well as the Museé International de la Parfumerie, visit the perfume houses of Galimard, Molinard and Fragonard for guided tours and even perfume-making workshops. Elsewhere, explore the historic winding lanes and come across artisan shops, café terraces and the impressive Rubens frescoes inside Cathédrale Notre-Dame du Puy de Grasse. There’s a lovely daily flower market at Place aux Aires whilst Place aux Herbes hosts the larger twice-weekly market on a Wednesday and Saturday morning.
A short drive from Grasse, encounter a wealth of picture-perfect villages and beautiful landscapes for walking, hiking, horse-riding and cycling. The perched village of Cabris is especially bucolic with incredible vistas over the Tanneron forest and Lac de Saint-Cassien. There are more glorious views from the small village of Spéracèdes with its pastel-coloured houses and olive trees.
Discover century-old hiking trails through the Siagne valley as well as pretty villages, ancient bridges and idyllic swimming spots. Visit the illuminated caves of stalagmites and stalactites just outside Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne before pottering around the authentic village admiring its fountains, café terraces and inviting food shops showcasing goats cheese, honey, olive oil and other products of the region.
South of Grasse, drive to the charming hilltop village of Opio, also famed for its olive oil, and don’t miss the Friday morning market in Valbonne, a very charming town dating back to the 16th century, home to a wonderful town square with pavement cafes and restaurants.
Golf lovers have a great choice of courses in the region including Golf du Claux Amic, once a 17th century hunting estate with stunning views and Golf Grande Bastide just south of Opio as well as prestigious courses close to Mougins and Cannes. As well as endless hiking trails across Grasse’s surroundings, other activities include a range of land and water-based activities in and around Lac de Saint-Cassien, only 15km from Grasse, as well as tree-top adventures and zip-lines with French Riviera views at Riviera Nature just north of the town.

Best Suited For: All AgesJust a short drive from the property, Les Gorges du Loup provides stunning natural scenery where families can enjoy hiking trails like the easy-to-moderate Circuit des Gorges du Loup, picnic spots beside the river, and safe swimming areas at Pont du Loup. Children will love exploring the cascading waterfalls and discovering local wildlife.
For the more adventurous, Le Bois des Lutins in nearby Villeneuve-Loubet, just 10 minutes drive away, is a magical forest adventure park perfect for kids. This enchanted park features treehouses, giant slides, and suspended nets for climbing, all set in a whimsical forest filled with playful elves and fairies. It’s an ideal spot for children to engage in physical activities and let their imaginations run wild.
A bit further afield, about 30 minutes drive from the Maison Lavande, is Marineland Antibes. This renowned marine park offers fascinating dolphin and sea lion shows, as well as interactive experiences like the touch pool where kids can get up close with stingrays. The park also features a large aquarium with sharks and tropical fish, providing a fun and educational day out that combines entertainment with learning about marine life.
