Ideal for Kids Walk to Beach Walk to Village All Bedrooms En-Suite Parking Space

Perfect for friends and families who would like a stress free holiday in a comfortable and well equipped home, Maison Aquitaine has a fabulous location on the Médoc peninsular near the Atlantic resort of Montalivet-les-Bains, renowned for its long stretches of blue flag sandy beaches and the convenience of shops, bars and restaurants.

This light, air conditioned home is designed as a place to relax and holiday in comfort. The four en suite bedrooms and spacious living-dining area open onto the terrace with easy access to the heated pool. The boules court is sure to be popular and the kids will enjoy choosing their bunk beds. Shop at the daily market for local produce and delicacies and, at the end of the day, dine al fresco with a bottle of local Médoc wine as the sun goes down.

Sandy beaches stretch gloriously here for 12km, lined by dunes which separate the beaches from the pine forests. The Atlantic waves make Montalivet a popular resort for surfers and there is a lively holiday atmosphere here, enhanced by the daily market where you can sample local delicacies. There are hiking, biking and horse riding trails to explore in the forests as well as by the coast. Locally, it’s fun to follow the cycle path from Montalivet to the more traditional town of Vendays, 8km inland.

There is plenty here to keep you close to home but, for a taste of a different seaside resort, Soulac-sur-Mer has beautiful beaches as well as a sense of history. South from Montalivet and away from the wild Atlantic is beautiful Lac d’Hourtin, the largest natural lake in France with gently shelving beaches and plenty of water sports such as sailing, windsurfing or simply hiring a pedalo.

Wine lovers are sure to enjoy visiting a château or two on the famous Route de Vins du Médoc. The vineyards near Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc are the closest to Maison Aquitaine but it’s also worth driving further afield to world famous Pauillac, one of the main wine destinations in the Bordeaux area and a nice town with a charming waterfront for lunch. The Maison du Vin here is sure to direct you to the closest wineries for an afternoon visit!

Maison Aquitaine is located on the northern part of the Médoc peninsular in the Gironde region of France. In a partially residential neighbourhood of newly built villas and modern homes just over 1km from the centre of the Atlantic coastal resort of Montalivet-les-Bains, it is only 1.5km from glorious beaches and 8km from the more traditional inland town of Vendays-Montalivet, a cycle path connecting them both.

A fantastic natural environment makes this a great place for holidays and it is a popular place for families. Sandy beaches stretch gloriously for 12km, lined by dunes which separate the beaches from the pine forests of the Médoc-Landes region. The beach at Montalivet has a blue flag status and the Atlantic waves make it popular with surfers. The coastal part of the town was created in the mid-19th century and is based solely around visitors so there are plenty of small supermarkets, cafés, little bars and restaurants to choose from.

The lively holiday atmosphere here is enhanced by the daily market during the summer months. Get there early for the Sunday morning market and find the oyster stand where people gather for a glass of white wine as they try out this local delicacy. There are hiking, biking and horse riding trails to enjoy in the forest as well as by the coast and a  cycling route runs alongside the whole 100km west coast of the Médoc peninsular.

Locally, there is an adventure park for kids, the few remaining marshes are home to a variety of wildlife and the naturist holiday village tucked away in the forest near the resort was once a helio-marine centre during WW2.

There is so much to enjoy nearby but for a taste of another well-known Atlantic coastal town, take the 19km drive northwards to Soulac-sur-Mer, a long established resort with beautiful beaches and a more of a sense of history with its Basilica and 19th century fine villas.

A 30-minute drive southwards, away from the wild Atlantic waves, is the beautiful Lac d’Hourtin, the largest natural lake in France whose beaches have gentle shelving fresh water. There are guided tours of the lake as well as the chance to enjoy sailing, water skiing, windsurfing, paragliding or simply hiring a pedalo or rowing boat. At Port d’Hourtin there is a marina, beach and an aquatic leisure centre.

At Maison Aquitaine you are only 15km from the famous Route de Vins du Médoc which stretches from Le Verdon-sur-Mer to Bordeaux - the nearest vineyards and estates are near Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc. Further afield, drive to Pauillac, one of the main wine destinations in the Bordeaux area. It’s a pleasant town with a charming waterfront, just perfect for a lunch of mussels and a glass of wine. Afterwards, stroll to the Maison du Vin where there is an interactive activity for kids and adults to practise their wine smelling skills! They will also recommend the closest wineries to visit in the afternoon - there are plenty of impressive wine châteaux to see nearby.
