This beautiful villa is located in Grebastica, a small and tranquil settlement near Primosten and Sibenik. Situated on a quiet street, surrounded by other properties, the whole area feels safe and friendly, ideal for families or groups of friends looking to explore the Croatia coastline.

Due to its rich history and culture, as well as exceptional values, in the year 2000, Sibenik was listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. At the heart of the city is a magnificent medieval history, with stunning architecture to match. Filled with gleaming white buildings with deep red roofs, the town stands out against the blue azure of the sea and deep green forests of the land. You can weave your way through Sibenik, navigating via winding alleyways, historic churches and lively squares. St James Cathedral is a renovated masterpiece. At the edge of the historic centre, the beautiful Medieval Mediterranean Gardens have been landscaped in the shape of a cross. Sibenik is well-known as the access point for the Krka National Park and the Kornati Islands, making it the perfect base for exploring the unparalleled natural beauty Croatia has to offer.

Krka National Park is known as one of the great natural wonders of the world and has to be visited during your stay. Swimming around Skradinski Buk, the lagoon at the foot of a series of 17 dramatic and spectacular waterfalls is a truly unforgettable experience! You can admire the lagoons and waterfalls from either the boardwalks or a boat, taking in the mesmerising sites, including the Roski Slap waterfall and Visovac, a 16th century monastery as well. If you enjoy trekking, then this is the place to do it, and for animal lovers you are likely to spot the golden eagles, boar and peregrine falcons along the way!

The Kornati National Park offers a similar level of outstanding beauty, composed of 140 uninhabited islands and islets covering 300 square meters, the largest and densest archipelago in the Adriatic. The islands rugged cliffs are punctured by mystical caves and grottoes, all of which are mostly barren. The deforestation has started to highlight startling rock formations, whose stark whiteness against the deep blue sea is an eerie and fascinating sight.

Region

Cradled along the shimmering shores of the Adriatic Sea, Šibenik is an ancient coastal city that sits equidistance from the larger and busier cities of Zadar and Split. By contrast to these larger destinations, Šibenik offers a glimpse into a more local way of life. With its well-preserved medieval core, magnificent fortresses, and the ethereal beauty of Krka National Park at its doorstep, Šibenik is a destination that captivates the hearts of travellers seeking an authentic Croatian experience.

Šibenik's Old Town is home to one of Croatia’s ten UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the iconic Cathedral of St. James. The cathedral is a true masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, a testament to human ingenuity and craftsmanship. The intricate frieze that adorns the cathedral's exterior tells stories from the Bible and local history, leaving visitors in awe of the skill and artistry of the craftsmen who dedicated their lives to this grand project. Stepping inside, the awe-inspiring interior of the cathedral continues to leave visitors breathless with its intricate stone vaulting and a serene atmosphere.

A visit to the Šibenik City Museum reveals the rich maritime history of the region, showcasing ancient ship models, navigational instruments, and artefacts from the city's seafaring past. Šibenik's maritime heritage is also celebrated during the annual International Children's Festival, a tradition that dates back to 1958 and unites children from all over the world in a cultural exchange of art and music. Children from around the world participate in various artistic and cultural activities, making it a unique experience for young travellers.

Šibenik’s calendar comes alive with festivals and cultural events throughout the year. The Šibenik Evening of Dalmatian Chanson is a tribute to the region's musical heritage, where local and international artists perform the soulful songs of Dalmatia. For those seeking a more contemporary cultural experience, the Terraneo Music Festival brings renowned musicians and electronic music enthusiasts to the city. This eclectic blend of events ensures there's always something happening in Šibenik, from lively street performances to classical concerts in historic settings.

Just a short drive from the city, Krka National Park is a haven of cascading waterfalls, lush greenery, and crystalline rivers. The park's centrepiece is the Skradinski Buk waterfall, a stunning series of cascades that plummet into a serene pool. The park is not only a feast for the eyes but also a sanctuary for diverse wildlife, including various bird species and aquatic life. Hiking trails and wooden walkways wind through the park, allowing visitors to explore its beauty at their own pace.

A boat trip along the Krka River offers a unique perspective on the park's natural wonders and historical sites, including the Visovac Monastery, a peaceful island sanctuary that has stood for centuries.

Šibenik is a gateway to the stunning Dalmatian islands that dot the Adriatic Sea. Day trips or longer island-hopping adventures are easily arranged from the city's port. Islands like Kornati, Prvić, and Zlarin offer pristine beaches, clear waters, and the opportunity to experience the tranquility of island life. Kornati National Park, also known as the "nautical paradise," is a sailor's dream, with its rugged islands and countless coves. Charter a boat or join an organised tour to explore this unique archipelago, which is a protected natural wonder and a playground for divers and snorkelers.

Whether you're wandering the picturesque cobbled streets of the Old Town, basking in the natural splendour of Krka National Park, or savouring traditional dishes in local eateries, Šibenik promises an unforgettable journey through history and the magic of the Mediterranean.

Villa Klavs has a family feel to it as soon as you arrive. The interiors are calm and relaxing, with a laid-back atmosphere perfect for young kids running about! Two of the bedrooms can offer either double beds or twins, with the option to push the beds together, this works perfectly for young siblings as well as older children. With the private pool on the terrace, kids will feel in heaven, splashing about to their hearts content if they have any energy left after busy days exploring the natural wonders of this area!

Nearby, the Solaris Aquapark which is part of the Solaris Beach Resort at Sibenik, is a firm favourite with our younger visitors. The park is open to all visitors, with something for every age group, including adults! Bursting with slides, waterfalls, jets, sprinklers, a lazy river and a fairy-tale cave to explore, the excitement can last all day! You will also enjoy visiting Sibenik’s Aquarium Terrarium, in a traditional old stone house, which contains a variety of colourful sea life to mesmerise children.

For kids who love wildlife, the Sokolarski Centar at Dubrava is a rescue centre for injured birds of prey. The sanctuary is open to the public, making it a healing mission to educate visitors about the birds, with the chance to learn first-hand the tricks and training needed to master the noble art of falconry.

During your stay there is little choice but to visit the stunning Krka National Park, even the smallest children will be mesmerised by the natural wonders, including waterfalls and lagoons where they can swim and play. It is free for children under 7 to get into the park. Tickets to the park include return boat rides from Skradin to Skradinski buk and Lozovac to Sradinski buk. It is better to buy tickets in advance.

Both nearby the villa and in the surrounding towns, Croatia’s relaxed dining scene means you can take children almost anywhere, with plenty of options for them to eat! A lot of the central squares are bordered by restaurants and bars, so you often see children playing in the centre, whilst adults relax and eat at the restaurants!
