Overview

Pool Ideal for Kids Pets Welcome

With sublime panoramic views over the Kvarner Bay, Villa Dagrotina offers a unique holiday home on the Croatian coast for eight lucky guests!

Built as recently as 2018, the villa is modern, chic and stylish, with luxurious facilities including underfloor heating and air-conditioning throughout. In the main living room, there is a vast sofa area in front of the large SAT TV and fireplace.

Alongside this, in the spacious room there is a large dining table for 10, and through the doorway from here is the kitchen. Modern and sleek, the kitchen offers everything you could need to prepare delicious meals and treats throughout your stay.

Alongside each of these areas is a large set of French doors flooding the rooms with natural light and providing immediate access to the magical garden beyond! Venture downstairs, and you will find yet more luxuries – your private sauna and fitness equipment!

Whether sweating out a hangover or maintaining your pre-trip physique, you’ll find everything you need in your villa! A pool table in the games room will provide endless entertainment for kids (and big kids!) of all ages, while the wine rack in the cellar is all you need to get the adult’s party started.

There are four sublime bedrooms dispersed across the ground floor. Each is incredibly spacious and equipped with a TV, while some have huge dressing areas, and three have direct access to the divine terrace beyond.

All four rooms have fabulous ensuite bathrooms with modern showers and elegant design.

The rural location enables you to spend time in the vast garden soaking up the peace and calm of the area! The ideal spot for a little sunbathing and relaxation is around the pool – but don’t panic when the sun starts to set!

Delightful lighting and pool heating make this the dream location whatever the time of day! For those travelling with children, there is a play area with a swing and slide to ensure the kids are as entertained as you are.

Just a few minutes from Učka Nature Park, a sprawling protected area with hiking routes leading to canyons, waterfalls and historic sites, you’ll find an unspoilt nature a stone’s throw away.

One-Third of the Istrian territory is forested, and the rest is carpeted with vineyards, olive trees, pastures and orchards, with ancient walled cities perched atop hills in the mountainous landscape, so you need merely stroll out of your front door to find the richness of Istria.

Just 20 minutes drive from the dazzling coast of Opatija, Villa Dagrotina is beautifully nestled between the thickly forested hills of the Učka Nature Park and the dazzling Adriatic Sea. Along the beach, you can stroll along the Lungomare promenade, or even pop into the Croatian Museum of Tourism!

Once a seaside resort for the Austro-Hungarian elite, in the days of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Opatija, known as the Pearl of Kvarner, remains a popular destination for those seeking a picturesque and peaceful Croatian coastal town with a little more to it than just a beach!

A charming heart-shaped peninsula in the north-west of Croatia, Istria is warm, welcoming and perfectly-sized – you can drive the length in around an hour, putting everything within easy reach!

From breath-taking scenery, rich history and a world-famous culinary scene – you will find it all in Istria! As a former part of the Venetian Republic, this region has seen many rulers from the Romans, Byzantines and Austro-Hungarians to the Italians and Yugoslavians.

Now, a myriad of enchanting towns and villages, rich in history and culture, are nestled among the undulating countryside. Active holiday-makers will be delighted with the offerings: from windsurfing in Medulin to scuba diving in the Brijuni National park and rock climbing, hang-gliding and walking in Buzet along the 15km ‘seven waterfalls’ walk, Istria has it all.

Both along the dramatic coastal paths and in the mountains inland, you will find an abundance of natural ways for cycling (including the scenic Parenzana route over an old railway line from Viznada to the Slovenian border) and rugged off-road hiking trails. Pick up a trail-map from any of the Tourist Offices, for loads of well-marked routes around the coast and in the Cape Kamenjak.

Much like its neighbouring Italy, Istria is a gastronome’s paradise, home to world-class cuisine and endless rows of vineyards. Be sure to try the local wines, which are often sweet and fruity, using a wide variety of grapes including white Malvasia, red Terrano and Moscato. Istria is especially famous for its truffles, which you will find served with any dish and sauce!

Truffle flavoured olive oil is a typical product of the region, and indeed, you will hardly see a village which does not have its own Olive oil ‘supermarket’!

Both Rijeka and Pula have international airports within a short drive of the villa, while Pula is the central hub for those getting ferries, although there is a daily ferry between Poreč and Venice.

Region

This heart-shaped peninsula was the birthplace of modern Croatian tourism, and it’s easy to see why. Its history has bestowed it with Italian sophistication, most obviously seen in pastel-painted coastal towns, like romantic Rovinj. But, tear yourself away from the Istrian coast, through the vineyards, olive groves, and dense forests, and you will discover brilliantly preserved medieval towns and villages, where cobbled streets reveal quaint galleries, sweet squares and sea-views.

Ideal for Babies & Toddlers Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Villa Dagrotina is the ideal home for your family holiday. With a fabulous array of onsite facilities and so much to explore nearby you can guarantee making memories to treasure as well as a little peace and quiet while the kids get stuck in!

In the heart-shaped bubble of Istria, you will find many activities specifically designed for families, including the two sensational water parks of Aquapark Istralandia near Novigrad and Aquapark Aquacolors in Poreč.

There is also the Dino Park just outside the town of Funtana where the kids can enjoy seeing life-size dinosaurs in the wilderness, an amusement park and even a dino shooting range!

On the theme of Dinosaurs, just a short drive from Pula, on the very southern tip of Istria, is the Kamenjak National Park where you can follow the ‘Dinosaur Path’ to discover dinosaur footprints and admire stunning views over the bay.

All along the coastline you will find opportunities to rent boats, pedalos and snorkelling equipment (or even scuba diving if you’re feeling up to it!) to enjoy the pristine beaches and bays, while inland among the deep green, rolling mountains there are some of the most beautiful cycling and hiking trails in Europe.
