Overview
Nestled in the picturesque fishing village of Zaton, an area famous for its olive groves, you’ll find Villa Giova, a luxury three-bedroom villa accommodating up to 6 guests. Offering stunning, panoramic sea views, a private heated pool, a spacious interior with luxury furnishings, and air conditioning throughout, Villa Giova is designed to perfection and promises a relaxing and enjoyable stay for families, friends or groups of colleagues.
The ground floor features a spacious, open-plan layout that consists of a living and dining area and a modern kitchen. White decor with accents in shades of grey that range from smokey to silver gives the whole villa a fresh, on-trend and contemporary feel, in beautiful contrast to the traditional stone-walled exterior. The living area features a flat-screen TV, cosy sofas and armchairs, and a handy coffee table, and the wooden dining table is chunky and well crafted. The kitchen area offers plenty of food preparation space. It is well equipped with all the amenities you would expect, including oven and hob, fridge, microwave, coffee machine, cookware and wine glasses, and a dishwasher.
All three double bedrooms at Villa Giova are spacious and bright, offering spectacular sea views, and are all decorated in fresh white, complemented by natural tones in the soft furnishings and furniture. There are flat-screen TVs in each room and modern and stylish ensuite shower rooms equipped with soft, fluffy towels, toiletries, and a hairdryer. From the first floor, you can step onto a terrace overlooking the pool area, the ideal place to enjoy a morning coffee and take in the views, before heading outside to sunbathe and relax. There are loungers and parasols around the private heated pool, as well as a covered outdoor dining area, fireplace and bbq facilities - perfect for alfresco meals or cocktails under the stars.
Heading down the stone steps to the lower level of the villa’s grounds, you’ll find a small children’s play area - situated safely away from the pool and featuring a swing set, slide, and rope ladder; this grassy area is the ideal place for the children to play why the adults read, prepare dinner, or relax in the sun.
What you should know…
- There are steps inside and out that parents might want to be aware of if holidaying with young children - especially those leading down to the play equipment on the lower level of the garden

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa GiovaThe small coastal village of Zaton is located next to the village of Orasac in the popular city destination of Dubrovnik. An area famous for olive growing and fishing, Zaton has become well-known also for its fine dining, with over 12 eateries in the village, including Tavern Arka - famous for its oysters, ribeye steaks and broth, as well as for excellent wine, coffee, chocolate cakes and butter tarts. Seafood lovers will undoubtedly want to sample the cuisine at Konoba Ankora, where tuna steaks and grilled squid are on the menu, along with many vegetarian options. The village is an oasis of calm and tradition, and its location in a picturesque bay means there are plenty of places to stop and take a dip as you meander through the streets, stopping at taverns and ice cream parlours along the way.
Staying in Zaton means you are ideally located for exploring the nearby islands and is a good base for taking day trips into Dubrovnik or Split, but if you decide to stay put - you’ll find plenty to do. You have a choice of gorgeous beaches along this stretch of coastline, including the small and rocky Soline beach, Zakon beach, which is near to the city centre, and Gof beach - worth a trip for its clear waters and isolation, but not the best choice for those travelling with young children. If you find yourself doing a bit of a tour of all the beaches in the area, be sure to spend a day at the Copacabana beach in Dubrovnik. There’s a very popular beachside bar and restaurant here, with a lively atmosphere and great amenities.
While Zaton doesn’t have a modern shoreside walkway, like those boasted by the towns of Split and Zadar, it does have one that features stunning views. Running almost 3km in length, the pathway snakes from one side of the bay to the other, giving you an uninterrupted view of the glittering Adriatic. We highly recommend a saunter along this path in the evening, soaking up the ambience and enjoying the peace and quiet.

Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesVilla Giova is an excellent choice of holiday accommodation for those visiting Croatia with children. They will love having their private heated pool to play in, and there’s a great outdoor play area that younger children, in particular, will enjoy. The village of Zaton has a peaceful, laid back vibe that makes it perfect for families who want to spend their days relaxing at the beach, and there are plenty of options with shallow waters that are ideal for kids. Pebble beaches reign supreme in the region, so beach shoes are a must and can be picked up cheaply at many of the little stalls and kiosks along the coast if you’ve forgotten to pack your own.
Many families choose to head into the city of Dubrovnik, where there are plenty of sights and attractions to suit all ages.
We recommend enjoying the sights of Dubrovnik by embarking on a buggy safari. This 2-hour experience takes place on 4-seater buggies driven by professional, English-speaking guides, where you will take in the breathtaking panoramic views of the city and coastline, all while exploring ancient fortresses, former minefields and rolling countryside, teeming with wildlife.
A trip to Lapad Beach is a great way to spend quality family time in Dubrovnik. The beach’s protected bay location and shallow, turquoise waters make it particularly appealing to the little ones. You’ll find sun loungers and parasols aplenty on the beach, so you can relax while the kids play, and there are lifeguards on duty at Lapad for extra peace of mind. Lapad Beach is easy to reach from Dubrovnik Old Town - just a 10-minute bus ride away, and is well worth the effort. Situated right in the centre of Lapad, the beach is backed by plenty of bars, restaurants, ice cream parlours, and tennis courts and children’s play areas nearby.
If you want the kids to soak up some history and culture while you’ll be spoilt for choice in the city. The walls of Dubrovnik are one of the city’s most iconic tourist attractions and offer adventure, education and fun! The oldest parts of the structure date back to the 7th century, and the kids will enjoy climbing the towers and forts connected by the walls. Here you’ll be able to take fantastic family photos, with an incredible backdrop of the Adriatic, the beautiful Old Port and the terracotta rooftops.
Cadmos Village Adventure Park is another must-visit attraction, featuring ziplines, a giant swing, paintballing and archery. A great place for children to learn as they play, the park focuses on sustainable tourism and respecting nature and features a treehouse restaurant where you can stop for refreshments to suit all tastes.
