Well-situated right in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, Bellever Manor is an enchanting 7-bedroom villa accommodating up to 14 guests. This sprawling haven set across its own grounds and woodland boasts spectacular views and direct access to the moor, ensuring a retreat that is rich in scenery, privacy, and no shortage of reverie.

Upon entering Bellever Manor, guests are greeted by a grand foyer where a staircase spirals to the upper level and there’s easy access to the villa’s four, front-facing reception rooms. These include two drawing rooms with a glorious fireplace, plush sofas, and piano; a library which provides the perfect place to curl up with a book or watch a film on the flat-screen TV; and an elegant dining room fir for any occasion.

The fully equipped farmhouse style kitchen is a haven for culinary enthusiasts thanks to its range of state-of-the-art appliances and ample counter space. The four-oven oil fired Aga, as well as a separate range and bespoke units make this space the beating heart of the house. Here, creating culinary masterpieces is not just a task but a joyous affair, whether you’re tossing together a Summer Salad or preparing a holiday feast for family and friends. Adjacent to the kitchen is a laundry room and book room, essential spaces in order to enjoy all that the more has to offer from scenic walks to wild swims.

Ascending the stairs reveals the seven bedrooms, each exuding its own unique charm and promising restful nights. The four bedrooms across the front-facing section of the house boast superb views across Dartmoor as well king-sized beds and shared en suite bathrooms with soaking tubs and walk-in showers. At the rear wing of the house are three more bedrooms, one with a king-sized bed, one with a double bed, and another with two twin beds. Each of these bedrooms features access to the shared en-suites.

Bellever Manor’s outside spaces are no less sumptuous than its interiors thanks to a sprawling landscaped garden, large terrace, al fresco dining setting, boules court, and spectacular panoramic views. What is more, the grounds include a private magical woodland, meadows, and direct access to the timeless and wild high-moor where guests can jump straight on famous walks through the East Dart Valley and Bellever Forest.

Bellever Manor is a haven where the charm of Dartmoor converges with the comforts of modern living, creating memories that linger long after you bid farewell to this delightful retreat in the high-moor.

Princetown (10-minute drive) is a great starting point for your Dartmoor adventure thanks to its Dartmoor National Park Visitor Centre where you can find interactive displays and fascinating exhibitions. Here you can find quality information about local trails, guided tours, and points of interest. Princetown itself is also home to a pub, café, brewery, distillery and supermarket.

The beautiful town of Tavistock (22-minute drive) is a key part of the West Devon and East Cornwall UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its pannier market. The town includes a wide array of shopping and eating options, from boutique fashions shops to Mediterranean delis.

If your idea of a perfect getaway is a long stroll along the links, have no fear, Yelverton Golf Club (23-minute drive) features a range of quirky and challenging holes, many of which boast beautiful views across the moor.

There are plenty of fantastic walks close at hand. Make your way up to Fur Tor and across to the Lydford Gorge, or check out the stone circles at Sittaford or Fernworthy. Or head southeast toward Bonehill and Haytor rocks. The nearby Haytor Quarry is just a few miles from the quaint town of Bovey Tracey and one of the most famous of all Dartmoor Tors. At the base of this granite outcrop is a hidden lake rich with wildlife.

Keen for a wild swim? Head down to the crystal clear waters of the River Dart. Spitchwick Common (20-minute drive) is a large grassy bank right next to the River Dart which works great as a picnic spot and a beach to dive into one of Britain’s most beautiful rivers.

With endless trails, hikes and walks to keep you busy, there’s no shortage of natural wonders to enjoy. But if you feel up to one man-made wonder, why not check out Castle Drogo (30-minute drive), the last castle to be built in England.
