As you pull into the driveway of this stylish property, welcomed by relaxing birdsong, rolling lawns and a glistening private pool, you will know without fear that you will have a memorable, magical holiday in the peaceful grounds of Langley Place.  With four living areas to choose from, there are plenty of places to relax and catch up with your guests.  Why not take afternoon tea in the sun-filled orangery, then in the evening sink into the comfortable lounge sofas in front of a roaring wood-burner. For those looking for a bit of competition the games room is the place to be with pool table, table tennis and table football, whilst keeping match-fit won’t be a problem in the house’s own impressive gym, stocked with exercise bikes, weight bench and more.

A stylish take on the English country garden, Langley Place has a light and airy open plan kitchen dining area complete with everything you could need to cater for a large group from Nespresso coffee machine and dishwasher right through to the wine glasses.  Al fresco dining in the summer is a must with a charcoal grill, and all utensils provided.  The property has seven bedrooms (ten beds) and seven bathrooms arranged across the main house and the annexe building, all tastefully designed to match the idyllic setting of the home with warm fabrics and luxurious linens.  The master bathroom boasts a fabulous freestanding bath, where you can enjoy a candlelit soak at the end of a busy day exploring the surrounding countryside.

The house’s fantastic pool is perfect for a summertime dip, with sunloungers provided for the ultimate relaxation in the tree-lined privacy of the glorious garden. Whilst the outdoor furniture allows you to sit back and enjoy a glass of Pimms on the lawn.  If you can be tempted away from this idyllic spot then explorers will not be disappointed with the endless walking and cycle routes through the stunning Chilterns, charming villages and the bustling riverside town of Henley just a fifteen-minute drive away with its restaurants, shops and water activities.

Situated within the Chilterns area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the house’s surrounding area has something for everyone.  Just a stone’s throw away is the historic English Heritage property Stonor Park, that not only offers tours around the beautiful Stonor family mansion and chapel but boasts picturesque gardens and an exceptional wild woodland play park to keep all the family happy.  Also close by is the stunning National Trust property Greys Court with its grand Tudor home, icehouse and breath-taking 125-year-old wisteria.  Enjoy a slice of cake or bowl of warming soup at the on-site teahouse before taking in the breath-taking grounds.

Water-babies should head to the bustling Henley-on-Thames to take full advantage of the lively riverside scene.  Try your hand at rowing and paddle boarding or hire a private boat to discover quieter spots, perfect for a glass of champagne and a picnic along the riverbeds.  The annual Henley Regatta is a big event here and offers guests a chance to dress up to the nines whilst they watch the races take place on the water.  The Henley Riverside and Rowing Museum is worth a visit with displays of sporting achievement and a charming exhibit on the riverbank world of the Wind in the Willows, perfect for little ones.

There are a number of beautiful walks and cycle trails to enjoy in the Chiltern Hills, we recommend a trip to Watlington Hill for a perfect panoramic view of the surrounding countryside finished off perfectly with a Sunday roast at Fox and Hounds in the charming village of Christmas Common.  A little further afield is the Georgian town of Marlow, an idyllic riverside town and the home of Tom Kerridge’s The Hand and Flowers, the first gastropub to receive two Michelin stars which is well worth a visit.

Luxury self-catering holiday accommodation in Buckinghamshire

Welcome to Buckinghamshire, a wonderland where history meets culinary wonders and every cobblestone seems to have a tale to tell! This county is a lively patchwork quilt of charming towns, enchanting villages and beautiful landscapes. Oliver’s Travels proudly presents a fantastic array of luxury holiday properties that are sprinkled over this wonderful county nestled in the heart of the English countryside.

First stop on our journey is Aylesbury, the county's crowned jewel. This market town has been shaking its market square feathers since the Saxon era and it knows how to put on a show! The market is a delightful carnival of local goodies, from handcrafted treasures and treats to local produce. Aylesbury Waterside Theatre is your ticket to a magical realm of performances, ranging from toe-tapping musicals to mind-bending magic shows.

For a dose of high-class history and a splash of French fancy, Waddesdon Manor is the place to be. Built by the Rothschild family, this château is certain to impress with its priceless art, opulent antiques and plenty of grandeur. The gardens are straight out of a fairytale, making it the perfect spot for a picnic fit for a king or queen.

Marlow is a town that will delight your taste buds. Quaint shops line the charming high street, but the real magic happens when you sit down for a meal. Michelin-starred restaurants, characterful traditional pubs serving hearty British fare and cosy cafes are sprinkled liberally throughout the town. After you have had your fill, you can take a leisurely stroll along the riverbanks where the Thames never looked so good!

The Chiltern Hills are the answer to your call of the wild. You can lace up those hiking boots and embark on a journey through ancient woodlands, charming villages and sensational views that will make your heart cheer. If you are not feeling like a hiking hero, the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway is your ticket to a scenic ride through the Chiltern countryside.

West Wycombe is home to West Wycombe Park, an 18th-century mansion that feels like a fairy palace. Quirky cottages, tea rooms and a gorgeous 18th century pub make this village a wonderful escape.

For a dose of arts and antics you can hop over to High Wycombe. The Wycombe Swan Theatre is your gateway to a world of drama, dance and comedy. Hughenden Manor, where Victorian Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli lived his best life, enjoys superb landscaped gardens perfect for a game of hide-and-seek or a peaceful stroll.

Buckinghamshire is county that offers a delightful blend of history, landscapes, ancient charm and wonder. You can pack your sense of adventure and be entertained by Buckinghamshire's unique charm!

The perfect property for extended families to make memories, Langley Place has something for everyone. Warm summer days can be enjoyed poolside whilst in chillier climes the house’s fantastic games room, complete with pool table, table tennis, darts and table football will keep young and old kids busy for hours.

With a range of cycle routes for all levels, the surrounding trails and countryside walks will allow all the family to explore the local wildlife and breath-taking views.  Just a short drive away is a hidden wildlife gem, the Warburg Nature Reserve, a beautiful natural habitat with spring flowers, varied wildlife and a fantastic one-mile nature trail, a perfect activity to spot butterflies and beetles whilst the local red kites soar above your heads.

The Tumblestone Hollow adventure playground at Stonor Park offers ten acres of fun and adventure inside its epic woodland park, complete with wood-fired pizzas available in the Rumble and Jumble Huts on site.  More playground fun and riverside mini-golf is available at neighbouring Henley-on-Thames with plenty of spots to grab an ice cream or cake at the various independent stores and cafes.

Older children can take to the water and hire a canoe or paddle board to glide amongst the boats at this thriving waterside scene.  Hobbs of Henley offer open top boats for all the family to climb on board for an hour-long tour of the local river beauty spots.  If you’re looking for some city life, the spectacular architecture of Oxford is under an hour’s drive, boasting spectacular university buildings to tour through, a range of culture from the Oxford Natural History Museum to the Ashmoleon or even a peek round the terrifying and fascinating dungeons at the Oxford Castle & Prison.  No trip to Oxford would be complete without a punt on the River Thames, steered by local students, or even available to hire and have a go yourself, though it’s harder than it looks!

Reviews

  • Luxury home

    on 15/11/2023

No hesitation in recommending Langley Park as a fantastic home for a get away. We visited as a group of 3 families with 2 small dogs and we had a great weekend. The property is accurately described and extremely well appointed, with everything you'd need in the kitchen, games room, toys & games etc for the whole family. This is a luxury home that's been extremely well looked after and there were no negatives or drawbacks from our perspective. Can't comment on the pool as we visited in November!
Hopefully we'll be back again some time!

  • Spotless

    on 17/04/2023

Really lovely house and location. Property was spotless. We all had a great weekend and communication was great. Thank you

  • The house was absolutely amazing

    on 14/04/2023

There were 15 of us (including young children) for my father-in-laws retirement and we could not have asked for a more perfect place.
Split between a main house and huge annex, it had lots of amazing spaces to enjoy.
The teenagers loved the games room which certainly saw it’s fair share of pool and table tennis.
The grounds were huge and the dogs absolutely loved the space to run around.
A really warm and immaculate family home in a stunningly picturesque location. I cannot stress enough how amazing this property is, and I’m probably over-using the word ‘amazing’ but it really was and the owners should be very proud of such a wonderful property.
We didn’t venture out as much as we thought we might but I hope one day we will be able to return and make more of the local area.
The owner was also lovely to deal with and made everything so easy for us.
    Cannot recommend highly enough.
