A family holiday to the north of the England is a great way to prise your children away from the TV screen and expose them to the great outdoors, and in Yorkshire, luxury cottages are available to rent from Stately Escapes, in areas which are full of great days out and fun activities for children. Here are some of the best days out to keep little ones entertained during your Yorkshire break:
Flamingo Land (Kirby Misperton, YO17 6UX)
Flamingo Land is one of North Yorkshire’s best amusement parks, with a mix of high octane roller coasters and opportunities for animal education. Older children can enjoy the thrill of the bigger rides, whilst smaller children will love the opportunity to visit the on-site zoo, which offers the chance to get up close and personal with a whole range of animals. It’s also great value, with tickets costing just £5 for kids and £7.50 for adults.
Husky Training (Meeting House Farm, YO13 0EL)
One of Yorkshire’s most fun days out is a day spent at the Pesky Husky Training centre in the North Yorkshire Moors, where kids can meet 30 friendly husky dogs before being taken on a thrilling dog-pulled ride. The centre also caters for children’s parties, making it an excellent birthday venue.
Harewood Adventure Playground (Harewood House, LS17 9LG)
A trip to one of the finest country estates in Leeds may not sound like a child’s idea of a great day out, but this spectacular manor is home to one of the best adventure playgrounds in Yorkshire. Adults can soak up the heritage of this 18th century stately home, whilst kids run wild in the playground, which is complete with its own zip line, aerial walkways and huge slides.
Magna Science Adventure Centre (Sheffield Road, S60 1DX)
The Magna Science Adventure Centre combines an all-round learning experience with demonstrations and interactive settings that will delight and amaze your children. Kids can get hands-on with the elements, with interactive demonstrations of Fire, Earth, Water and Air, before heading over to Aqua-Tek, one of the UK’s largest outdoor water play areas. Fun for the whole family!
