Location. Location. Location. Two-bedroomed Villa Faralya is tucked away in the hills in the charming Turkish village of Faralya in Fethiye. The villa boasts fantastic views of the turquoise coast and Butterfly Valley below, with a soft sandy beach and some lovely walks through a lush gorge nearby. The peaceful spot is home to a myriad of butterfly species including the unique Jersey tiger butterfly.

There are plenty of chances to make a splash: there’s a private outdoor swimming pool, and Belcekiz beach and Oludeniz Nature Reserve and beach are both within a short drive. The villa is surrounded by a rustic stone wall and tall trees and plants for your utmost privacy and tranquillity. The outdoor terrace is lined with cushioned sun loungers and beautiful bougainvillaea flowers in pots. Find your prime reading spot in the shade or take a cooling dip in the clear blue waters. By night, lanterns built into the wall come alight you can enjoy the peaceful ambience well into the evening.

Inside, the décor is modern and stylish with light grey walls and natural-coloured furnishings. There are two spacious bathrooms with sleek stainless steel fittings and marble and grey tiles, and large mirrors and fluffy towels add the homely finishing touches. The villa also has a welcoming open-plan living, kitchen and dining room with comfortable seating, a dining table and everything you need for cooking including an oven and microwave. Dine indoors or on the shaded al fresco table, both allowing you to take in the magical views. There’s also a barbeque and outdoor seating area.

Whether you want to work up a sweat in the villa’s fitness centre, laze by the pool with your holiday read or explore the local area, Villa Faralya has you covered. The villa is a short drive from sandy beaches, historic sites and beautiful walking trails, as well as shops, restaurants and local markets.

What you should know…

  • The villa is sitting pretty in the hillside and is on a slight incline so shoes with a good grip could be useful.
  • The location of the villa means that a car is a necessity to reach local attractions and the nearest beaches in Oludeniz. Faralya is a beautiful area, enhanced by it's clifftop position. The approaching road can be difficult for even the most experienced driver, especially in the dark. We'd say a car is essential but recommend booking a transfer from the airport and having the car delivered to the villa

Villa Faralya is tucked away on the Seven Capes coast in Faralya. The sleepy village is about 12km from the popular resort of Oludeniz and 25km from the vibrant port city of Fethiye. Faralya is known for its beautiful location overlooking Butterfly Valley, with a sandy beach and some lovely walks through a lush gorge. See if you can spot the two waterfalls that are nestled between the trees.

The villa is close to parts of the Lycian Way, widely regarded as one of the world's greatest trails. Whether you’re a casual walker or a serious trekker, you can walk through the towering pine forests and olive groves, across flower-filled fields, and past shepherd's huts, then unwind in simple, scenic accommodation along the coast. The trail stops off at interesting sites like Kayaköy ghost village. You could also go to the ancient site of Tlos where Lycian and Roman ruins intermingle with mountain village life, and you’ll enjoy breath-taking views over Xanthos valley.

For relaxing afternoons spent by the beach, Oludeniz Blue Lagoon is about 7km away. The nature reserve and beach have sparkling waters that are calm and clear – perfect for swimming and snorkelling. You’ll also find canoes and pedaloes on the waterfront, and plenty of cafés serving drinks and snacks. You could also head to sandy Belcekiz beach with an impressive backdrop of the Bagadag mountains. It’s a short 6.5km drive from Villa Faralya.

Fethiye town is also well worth a visit for a taste of traditional Turkey. If you head to the old quarter, you can explore the cobbled streets, mosques and the jumble of shops selling locally-crafted ceramics, jewellery, leather goods and carpets. Relax over a drink or traditional cuisine at the marina, overlooking the glittering yachts or treat yourself at one of the Turkish baths.

Nearest Town/City Olu Deniz

Situated on the ancient city of Telmessos, Fethiye is named after one of its most famous ‘sons’, the aviator Fethi Bey. An earthquake in 1957 damaged central Fethiye, so many of its buildings have been built since then. You can, however, see a Lycian theatre, Lycian tombs (including the rock tomb of Amyntas) and visit the Fethiye museum for more history and artefacts. The centre of Fethiye boasts a covered market area, half of which is given over to the local fish market where you can choose your catch from one of the centre stalls and then get it cooked in any of the surrounding restaurants. The whole of the area is shadowed by the mountain of Babadag where paragliders take to the skies, landing on the beach at Olu Deniz.

Fethiye’s Tuesday market is worth a visit. Traders come from the outlying villages to sell the wares from their smallholdings. Furrowed browed men with cloth caps, and ladies in floral bloomers will sell their produce amongst the lads trying to get you to buy their designer fakes! It’s all in good humour. Try a little bartering and see if you can do some good business. Go to the spice stall and you will get some amazing spices. Look for the Kar Serbeti, like a cinnamon slush or Ayran, a salty yoghurt drink both guaranteed to cool you down.

Olu Deniz & Calis are where people tend to flock for a beach but there are now a few private beach clubs along the coast between Olu Deniz and Fethiye which are worth a visit. There are also beach clubs situated around the lagoon, all with sunbeds, restaurants and drinks service. Hisaronu is more commercialised and hosts a large selection of bars, restaurants and gift shops.

With safe sandy swimming beaches and plenty of exciting natural and historic sites nearby, Faralya is an ideal location for a family-friendly holiday. You can visit Butterfly Valley in the foothill of the Bagadag mountains to spot the myriad of butterfly species (there are 105 to see), swim in the blue waters there, relax on the sands or walk the trail in the valley that leads to two small waterfalls.

For fun days trip, jump on a boat to Gemiler island with archaeological ruins and plenty of quiet spots for swimming and snorkelling. The Blue Lagoon at Oludeniz and Belcekiz beach are the most popular beaches, and there are plenty of opportunities at both to take part in water sports like sea kayaking and paragliding. There are also a couple of water parks in the area.
In the cooler months, you can go mountain biking in the foothills of the mountains. For ancient culture, the ruins including Lycian tombs and a fortress at Tlos promise an exciting day out.

Beautiful, well equipped villa in a quiet location. Property owner was very friendly and helpful.

  • Great Hospitality

    Posted by KA on 30/07/2018

Amazing hospitality. The villa itself is just as the photos show: spacious, and with all modern conveniences with an amazing view over the sea and mountainside. It's situated within Faralya about a 20 minute drive from Oludeniz along winding mountainside roads; a perfect respite from the bustle of the city but close enough by car or bus.
We had an incredible time and would recommend Villa Faralya to anyone wanting to holiday in this part of Turkey.
