Pollensa is a truly mesmerising region that is well known for its varied selection of tourist attractions and hotspots. Puig de Maria is a renowned religious landmark that is based just over 5-minutes away from the centre of Pollensa. This monument is home to an archaic 14th monastery that has been a key piece of the region’s history for generations. This monastery was first built as a shrine to the Virgin Mary but has undergone many changes in its time, especially during the 19th century when it was refurbished in order to fit in with the Gothic revival occurring at the time. Guests can enter this building and explore the well-preserved fixtures and artefacts that showcase Pollensa’s long religious history. Many previous guests say that Puig de Maria only takes 30-minutes to climb, making it a very accessible journey.

If you are looking to blend in with the locals during your time here, the Pollensa Market is a must-see attraction. This market welcomes over 300 stalls, selling a range of clothes, bags, and other handmade craft items. Plus, there is also a plethora of plants and fresh produce on offer, allowing guests to gain a true taste of Pollensa’s exquisite food scene. Guests are encouraged to browse through the stalls and pick up a few souvenirs to treat themselves whilst on holiday. Pollensa Market is just a short walk away from the town centre and is open every Sunday from 8 am till 1:30 pm.

Placa de l’Almonia is also just a stone’s throw away from the town centre and is a real treat for any European history fanatic. This idyllic square is home to a house that was used to provide essential items to Pollensa’s peasants during the 15th century. The house was run by wealthy university students who used their funds to offer wheat and money to disadvantaged citizens. Placa de l’Almonia was also a battleground during the 16th century when ambushers decided to unleash a ruthless attack on this small town. Thus, modern-day citizens hold a beautiful ceremony every August to remember the natives who lost their lives during this conflict.

Pollensa is a very alluring region, providing a plethora of intriguing attractions within close proximity to the centre of the town. If you are looking to explore Pollensa’s prehistoric past, Alzinaret Caves are a perfect landmark to visit. These wondrous caves date back to 1600 BC, showcasing a wide selection of beautiful artefacts from the Middle Bronze Age. These items are scattered throughout the caves, making them very easy to see as guests travel through. Despite their incredible origins, these caves were not recorded until 1927, when Wilfred Hemp first uncovered them. In order to honour his discovery, there is a cave named Number 7 of Hemp that acts as a shine to his work. Alzinaret Caves are just over 10-minutes away from the centre of Pollensa.

Located just a few minutes away from the town centre, the Pollensa Museum is a fantastic place to visit if you are looking for a free day out. This acclaimed establishment was first built in the 16th century and was originally used to store Gothic altarpieces. Throughout its long history, the Pollensa Museum has been praised for its catalogue of items and was recognised during the Summer Exhibition of Painting in the 1960s. This institution was officially founded in 1975 and now showcases a range of Buddhist mandalas as well as the works of Atilio Boveri. The Pollensa Museum is open Monday-Friday from 10 am till 2 pm.

Formentor Lighthouse is another iconic landmark within Pollensa and can be found just 50-minutes away. This looming monument stands 210 metres above sea level and, at its peak, provides a collection of awe-inspiring views. Guests can drive to the very top and bask in the fantastic sights as they embark on their journey. The lighthouse was first constructed in 1863 and was used to guide small fishing boats away from the dangerous rocks that sit at the bottom. To this day, the lighthouse acts as a safety net for boats travelling in and out of the Mallorcan shores. Formentor Lighthouse has also inspired a wide selection of writers such as Carlos Fuentes and Gerardo Diego, further exemplifying its outstanding significance and beauty.

  • We will be returning!

    on 08/02/2022

We have returned to Pollensa on many occasions and can't fault the welcome from the OT team. The villas we have stayed in have al been lovely, spotlessly clean and set in beautiful gardens.

  • Relaxing holidays

    on 27/09/2021

The house was great - lots of space, awesome outdoor area and pool! Perfect space to have a relaxing holiday with family/friends!

  • Lovely house

    on 02/03/2021

Lovely house - especially outside. The photos don't do it justice. It's a couple of miles from the main road (all tarmac) which provides that real feel of away from it all. Though only 15 mins drive to Pollenca. We were left a very nice welcome pack by the agent's and we happened to meet the owner who was very helpful and a pleasant chap. Will be visiting again.
