Situated in the wonderful region of Galicia, this charming villa enjoys a peaceful setting whilst being just a short stroll from the beach, offering the perfect spot to spend sunny days and make the most of the picturesque coastline.

Located off a quiet road, Villa de Campo is arranged over several levels, making the most of its spectacular views down to the sea and Aldan estuary. Newly built, the stone facade makes a striking presence, and the spacious rooms spill out onto various front terraces where you can sit and admire the view. Fully enclosed, the garden extends away from the villa, dotted with oak and citrus trees and vibrant planting that surrounds the perimeter, creating a tranquil setting.

Entering the property, the main living area features a double-height space dominated by a striking staircase and floor-to-ceiling openings that draw in plenty of natural light whilst framing views out to the garden and coast beyond. Arranged throughout the room, various seating areas invite you to relax, and a large sofa to the front offers a comfortable place to sit and watch TV. Sliding doors open out to the terrace, which you can leave ajar to enjoy a gentle breeze or step outside and relax with a book whilst soaking up the sun. A neat dining table is positioned at the base of the stairs, whilst the modern kitchen can be found to the far side, with a smart central island and sleek cabinets well-equipped for preparing meals throughout your stay. A further set of doors leads out to the rear of the villa, where the backyard offers a charming setting for entertaining guests. There is a barbecue and spacious outdoor table, perfect for making the most of the warm weather and sharing leisurely meals in the fresh air.

Leading to the upper floors, the contemporary staircase opens out to form a mezzanine space, where a wonderfully light space and various seating are ideal for relaxing or doing some work. Arranged over all levels, there are six charming bedrooms to choose from, each newly furnished and featuring a mixture of double and single beds. Light and airy, several of the rooms enjoy splendid views over the estuary, whilst the others look out to the garden below. The master bedroom features an ensuite, whilst a further three bathrooms have been well-designed and serve the rest of the villa. There is also a bathroom conveniently located on the lower level, perfect for those returning from the beach.

Whilst enjoying an exclusive position, with a peaceful garden and spectacular views, Villa de Campo is perfectly placed to explore the surrounding area, with the beach being less than 400m away.

Stretching for nearly 1200 km, Galicia's rugged coastline is dotted with tiny bays and charming inlets, and there are plenty of options close by. Praia de Vilarino is the nearest beach, with a lovely stretch of clean sand and a gentle shore, perfect for enjoying an early morning swim or offering a great place to spend the day with children. Further along the peninsula, Praia de Castineiras is a lovely spot, and there are several cafes and bars to the rear where you can enjoy an ice cream or a bite to eat. Take your time discovering hidden bays along the coast, or hop in the car for 10 minutes and head to the southern side, where Praia de Barra offers a slice of natural paradise. With a long stretch of powder-white sand and beautifully clear waters, the beach is a wonderful spot to relax in the sun, and you can take a picnic and enjoy the peaceful setting.

Just 30 minutes away, Pontevedra is a great option for a day out. Sitting on the mouth of the Lerez River, the settlement was once a key port in the region. You can explore the city's vibrant streets and see the remains of the rich maritime heritage. Visit the Praza de Ferrería to admire the distinctive round form of the Church of Peregrina, or seek out the Basílica de Santa María a Maior built in a mixture of Gothic, Plateresque and Portuguese styles. Wander along to the covered market, where you can sample some of the region's produce, such as tarta de Santiago or the famous tetilla cheese. There are a number of neighbourhood tapas bars where you can stop for some lunch or head to Restaurante Santa Clara to enjoy traditional cooking with their delicious homemade casseroles and typical rice dishes.

To the south, the industrial port of Vigo is also worth visiting, and you can explore the charming old town and visit the Rúa dos Cesteiros to browse the local boutiques. There are plenty of restaurants along the waterfront, where you can enjoy a wide variety of fresh sea produce sourced along Galicia's coast or wander along the Rúa das Ostras to try local oysters accompanied by a glass of traditional Albarino wine. During the summer months, regular ferries run from Vigo out to the Cies Islands, and a boat trip offers an alternative perspective back to the coast (make sure to book in advance!). Filled with flora and fauna, the islands are a paradise for hikers and birdwatchers, and there are plenty of trails inviting you to explore the beautiful natural setting. Follow a path out to the lighthouse to enjoy spectacular views of Baixo Mino, or head to Playa de Rodas, where you can take a swim in the clear blue waters.

About the Region & Getting There

About Galicia

Like many parts of Spain, Galicia has its very own identity that has remained intact through its regional dialect and distinguishing culture. Although Galicia is recognised for its holy traditions, we urge budding tourists to also consider its astonishing green countryside & rivers and its UNESCO World Heritage sites. Occasionally you may even hear the gentle tootling of bagpipes, known locally as the Galician Gaita, along this northern corner of the Iberian Peninsula.

You're likely to fly into Santiago de Compostela, which is the capital of Galicia and is probably best known for the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and its route. Many of the travellers embark on this journey by foot and tend to be mesmerised by this fine city at the end of their trek. Casco Viejo, or the Old Town, is a good place to end or even start your holiday. This area of the city is blessed with markets, restaurants, bars and buildings from a bygone era. After exhausting yourself in the busyness of the city, take a day trip to Praia de Rodas, on the gorgeous Cíes Islands. These small islands, accessible by boat from Vigo, Baiona, or Cangas, have been noted as having some of the best beaches in the world. It has to be seen to be believed!

Galicia is divided into four key regions: A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and our favourite – Pontevedra. A Galician proverb states that 'Pontevedra gives water to travellers'. We firmly believe this to be true, as this particular part of Galicia has everything a traveller could need for an unforgettable experience and it almost feels like this city is constantly giving back. Whilst you holiday in Pontevedra you will realise that days are structured around mealtime. And why wouldn't they be? With some of the best seafood you will experience in Spain and the noteworthy Albariño wine, you may notice your jeans feeling a little tighter toward the end of your holiday. You will be glad to know that your waistline need not be a cause for concern though! Pontevedra is blessed with some of the best hiking trails, medieval monasteries, estuaries, and valleys within Spain. Don't forget about the coastline either! Rarely you will you find so many empty beaches, so make the most of this privacy and just embrace the nature around you.

Galicia is still an unspoilt part of the world. It has everything a diverse group of friends & family need to have a glorious adventure.

Getting There

Galicia is served by either Santiago de Compostela Airport, A Coruña Airport, or Vigo Airport. Various train lines connect the main cities and towns of Galicia to other destinations in Northern and Central Spain. Hop on and enjoy the view from your comfy seat; there's even a Galician Tourist Train pass! This discounted rail pass gives you access to various rail routes created by the Galician Regional Government and based on key elements of the region. Follow the Lighthouse Route along the northern coastline and stop to admire the lighthouses and gorgeous sea views, or hop on and follow one of the Ribeira Sacra Wine Routes to visit the lovely towns and wineries where acclaimed Galician wines are made and enjoyed. Check out the government website to grab your pass and plan your trip!

From the UK:
Direct flights are available from London with easyJet, Ryanair, Vueling, and many others. Although, travellers should be aware that Vigo Airport only receives domestic flights, so a stopover is needed if you wish to travel to this airport. Chartered flights are also available from several other UK airports.

Kids

Best Suited For: Teens
Ideal for Teens

With its spacious layout and enclosed garden, Villa de Campo is perfect to enjoy with all the family. Kids can run around the grass lawn or play beneath the trees whilst the barbecue invites you to share entertaining meals together. With several seating areas throughout the villa, there is plenty of space to spread out or set the kids up in front of the TV where they can enjoy a movie in the evening. There is also a ping pong table, perfect for providing entertainment on rainy days.

You can reach the beach in just 5 minutes, making it easy to spend the day beside the sea whilst also knowing that the villa is a moment away in case you forget something. Praia de Arnelas is a lovely beach with a stretch of clean white sand, and the shallow waters are perfect for young kids to paddle along the shoreline. There are plenty of other beaches to discover around the peninsula, or head just 25 minutes down to Vigo, where you can hop on a ferry and enjoy a fun day out with a boat trip out to the Cies Islands. Spend the day exploring the island's trails, admiring the scenery and diverse wildlife, or head to the Playa de Rodas, where you can enjoy a picnic or take a refreshing swim in the beautifully clear waters.

Vigo also has an impressive castle, which kids will love to explore, whilst the nearby Naturnova Centre is ideal for rainy days with a number of interactive exhibits and activities to learn about the natural planet and solar system.

Please be aware that this property only accepts children over 7 years old, and is really best suited for teens, due to it's open spaces, unsuitable staircases, and risk of falling.

  • I had a lovely stay at Villa de Campo

    on 28/10/2023

The property is clean, modern, spacious & well equipped with amazing views of the nearby beach. Even in bad weather it was lovely to sit on the sofa and enjoy the view. The welcome pack was lovely and Jason, who helped with our check-in, was very friendly and helpful with recommendations.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

    on 28/10/2023

Beautiful decor and stunning views, we stayed in Galicia for 5 days, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Villa de Campo! The welcome basket we received upon arrival was also a very nice touch, and much appreciated, as we arrived at the villa too late to go to the nearby shops.
