Bright blue skies and the gentle alpine breeze will draw you outside to the chalet’s sunny garden each day, where you can enjoy sipping your morning cup of coffee in the outdoor dining area, surrounded by majestic mountain vistas. The secluded garden provides barbecue facilities and plenty of space for family fun and games, while Chalet Gisele’s peaceful balcony offers simple outdoor seating, the ideal spot in which to enjoy a private après-ski experience at sunset.

Inside the chalet, a welcoming open-plan living space features cosy, wood-panelled interiors and more enchanting views of the mountains. The lounge is warm and inviting, while a charming dining area provides plenty of space for everyone to gather together over a delicious meal and a glass of wine to discuss the day’s adventures. The laidback living space leads into a spacious kitchen that comes fully equipped with modern appliances and everything you might need to prepare hearty, home-cooked meals. Guests at Chalet Gisele also benefit from a convenient ski storage area and laundry facilities, as well as a private garage.

The chalet boasts five bedrooms, one of which is a simple room located on the lower ground floor with bunk beds, a great space for teenagers or friends to share. A bathroom with a walk-in shower is also available on the lower ground floor. The remaining four bedrooms in Chalet Gisele are all to be found on the first floor, alongside a well-appointed family bathroom with a bath and shower. Rustic wood panelling and understated décor create a warm, restful ambience in both of the chalet’s bright double bedrooms, while another delightful bedroom features a double bed, a single bed and a home library. The last bedroom is a compact and cosy single room with a traditional wash basin and a wardrobe. Meanwhile, the chalet’s private sauna is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day spent exploring the wonders of the Chamonix Valley.

Chalet Gisele is situated in the traditional alpine village of Le Tour in the renowned Chamonix Valley, a winter sports paradise. The chalet’s idyllic setting is a five-minute stroll away from local bars and restaurants, while a range of pâtisseries, boulangeries and supermarkets is available in nearby Argentière, only five minutes away by car. For those in search of a lively après-ski experience, the bustling town of Chamonix is less than a twenty-minute drive away. Ideally located amidst the picture-perfect natural beauty of the French Alps, Chalet Gisele offers guests a laidback mountain retreat with easy access to excellent ski resort amenities and breathtaking scenery.

With the lift leading up to the beautiful Balme ski area only a three-minute drive away, the chalet is ideal for those who wish to make the most of the slopes in the early morning sunshine and spend the whole day outside. During the summer months, Le Tour is a much-loved hiking and mountain biking destination, popular with locals and visitors alike, offering well-maintained trails leading up to the mesmerising views from the Glacier du Tour. Peaceful Le Toure village also provides visitors with easy access to Chamonix and the other ski areas of the valley.

The sun-drenched Balme ski area is home to over twenty varied and accessible slopes to suit every level of experience and ability. Visitors to the highest point of the Balme area, reaching 2,270m, will find plenty of blue and red slopes to enjoy. Meanwhile, nearby Argentière offers seasoned skiers three distinctive zones and incredible vistas, with steep terrain and challenging off-piste skiing. Ski areas here include the lower terrain around Argentière, the mountain stretching from Lognan to Borchard, as well as steeper alpine terrain that reaches up to 3,275m and includes the jaw-dropping Argentière glacier.

Home to the Kandahar World Cup skiing event, Les Houches is great for beginners, with a welcoming upper plateau that provides rewarding mountain views. Meanwhile, cable car rides offer breathtaking ascents to sublime summits, where you can marvel at the peaks of Les Droites and L’Aiguille Verte. After another day of adventure in the fresh air, the Chamonix Valley offers a myriad of après-ski options for visitors to enjoy, ranging from cosy inns to lively bars and outdoor events.

In Argentière, there are beautiful hiking routes to be explored during the warmer months, with the majestic sights of the Couloir du Grand Chantet and La Pierre a Bosson nearby, as well as the popular ascent to glacial Lac Blanc, which rewards hikers with mesmerising views of Mont Blanc. You can also spend a sunny morning hiking along the picture-perfect Petit Balcon Sud to reach Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, in time for a well-earned lunch of raclette and a glass of wine.

The Resort

Chamonix is often preceded by its own reputation. As one of the most famous ski resorts in the world, it has visitors travelling from all corners of the world to experience the epic runs year after year. The Chamonix town centre, also known as Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, is an endlessly inviting little city with enough going on to entertain skiers and non-skiers alike for weeks on end. For those travelling from the UK, it is fabulously easy to reach. You can drive straight from Calais by motorway and be set up in a gorgeous chalet in less than half a day.

The Chamonix Valley encompasses five main ski areas on four different mountains (with easy transfers in between). You can get yourself a single-resort lift pass or one that encompasses the whole valley. If you go with the latter option you’ll even have access to the Italian side of the valley in Courmayeur. The wider area encompasses 106 pistes at up to 3842m altitude and unparalleled off-piste runs. 

Most of Chamonix’s ski areas are best suited to those who already feel at home on a pair of skis. Beginners definitely won’t get as much out of this valley as those who are comfortable tackling a black run. But that’s not saying Chamonix is unromantic by any means. There is incredible scenery for everyone to enjoy, from non-skiers to experts, and nature lovers will fall in love with the Chamonix in summer too. Ski season, however, often lasts until mid-March.

Once the skiing is over at the end of the day you’ll still find plenty to keep you occupied in town. There is an excellent selection of restaurants to choose from, ranging from Michelin starred fine dining to street food that will line your stomach for the après-ski (and rest assured there are dozens of great bars and clubs to choose from!)

Chalet Gisele’s magical alpine setting in Le Tour will delight younger visitors, with the captivating views of Mont Blanc encouraging them to spend plenty of time outside in the chalet’s spacious garden. During the winter season, the Chamonix Valley ski resort caters for young children, teenagers and everyone in between! Specialist ski schools offer first-time skiing lessons to children ages three years and older, with kids’ clubs providing a wide variety of activities, while toddlers can enjoy the powder-soft snow of the valley’s gentlest slopes.

Winter
Many ski hire shops in Chamonix rent family-friendly sledges, which can be taken to the Prarion Plateau in Les Houches or the dedicated ski area at Les Planards. Les Planards also offers families a thrilling evening experience under the starry night sky, with an alpine rollercoaster twisting and turning along a 1,300m winding track, whizzing through the snow-covered forest! An adult must accompany children under the age of eight on this particular adventure.

After a sunny morning spent enjoying the exciting challenges that new slopes bring, older kids may wish to try something a little different in the afternoon. The Deluxe Igloo and Fondue Adventure gives them the opportunity to sledge along a three-kilometre track in the Swiss forests near Chamonix, followed by a hike to a snow igloo for an evening of delicious cheese fondue.

Summer
Warmer weather also brings a treasure trove of outdoor activities for children to enjoy in the French Alps, including a fantastic ziplining adventure in the forests of the Accro'Park in Les Gaillands, approximately twenty minutes away from Chalet Gisele by car. The Mont Blanc Equestrian Centre is open all year round, offering families the chance to discover the wonders of the valley on horseback, while hiking and mountain biking trails provide unforgettable views of the mountains. Later on, return to your cosy home in Le Tour in time for a delicious dinner and a night of stargazing on the balcony. Everyone will be sure to sleep soundly after another day of fresh air and adventure!

Security deposit Credit card details are required 2 weeks prior to departure for pre-authorisation. Alternatively, guests can pay a non-refundable 'Warranty Damage Waiver' (as a form of insurance for damage up to the value of €1000 - full policy details are available on request)

End of stay cleaning included? A service charge will be collected by Oliver's Travels before you travel. However, guests are required to leave the accommodation clean, tidy and in the same condition as on their arrival. Any extra cleaning, laundry, maintenance and/or garbage disposal required will be charged against the security deposit. For stays over 7 nights the service charge is £400 & for stays of less than 7 nights the service charge is £360.
