The Resort

Méribel is a village with a true alpine heart. You won’t find blocks of hotels and purpose-built facilities here. Instead, the compact and lively town centre is picture-postcard perfect, and its atmosphere is quaint and fairytale-like. It is without a doubt the most romantic resort in the area and if you’re planning a couples holiday in the snow you’ll definitely want to take a closer look at Méribel.

At the centre of the world famous Trois Vallées (Three Valleys), Méribel makes up part of the largest ski domain in the world. Across the valleys, it has six sister resorts. You can either get a single-resort lift pass and keep to the fantastic beginner and intermediate terrain there, but you also have the option of purchasing a pass that covers the whole area.

The advanced lift system at Méribel will let you maximise your time on the snow and make sure you’re not waiting around in queues. With 67 runs to try out just in the resort itself, there is no time to be wasted. Just beware of the afternoon sun cutting things short on the west-facing slopes and prepare to get up with the sun if you’re after untouched powder. At it’s highest skiing point Méribel reaches an altitude of 2952 metres and the descent from this point is known to be one of the most scenic runs around.

Aside from the world-class skiing, Méribel is also known to be one of the liveliest resorts in the Three Valleys. Many of its residents and bar-owners (as well as plenty of its visitors) are expat-Brits who certainly know how to party. The après-ski scene here is truly top-notch!

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

The chalet promises a fun-filled time for kids. They can build snowmen, play-fight with snowballs and indulge in a variety of activities like hiking, horse riding and cycling.

After a long day outdoors, they can watch their favourite flicks in the home cinema. There is also PlayStation, board games and books to keep them hooked for hours. Treat them to warm bubble baths in the luxurious jacuzzi. If you wish to arrange for highchairs or baby cots, the staff will be happy to help.

Blessed with a spectacular location, the chalet is also at an easy distance from nursery slopes, vibrant ice-skating rinks and other kid-friendly winter activities. The staff will be delighted to assist you with details about ski schools in the neighbourhood.

Meribel is a treasure trove of family fun, with many activities specially designed for kids. Head to Olympic Park and have a blast on the ice-skating rink. The little ones can show off their motor skills in the bowling alley which has a few lanes specifically meant for children over three. Enjoy hours of splashy fun in the sparkling indoor pool — which includes a baby section.

Tuck into Cinéma du Mottaret, a cosy one-screen experience, which shows children’s films every evening. Take an unforgettable hot air balloon ride over snow-capped forests and staggering peaks at Courcheval Altiport, which is about 45 mins by car from Meribel Centre. Your kids will love taking pictures and sending their social media into a tizzy.

After all this excitement, the little ones surely deserve treats. Treat them to the best ice cream sundaes in town at Rond Point. For something savoury, dip into a bowl of cheesy fondue at La Fromagerie.
