Chalet Apartment Modern Self-Catered Ski-In/Ski-Out Ideal for Kids

Welcome to Apartment Zola, your home for the duration of your stay, as we welcome you to a world where winter reigns supreme. Burrowed amongst the picturesque French Alps lies the fairy-tale landscape of Courchevel. Travellers flock to the area for two particular reasons: adrenaline and adventure and relaxation and recuperation. Whether you seek one or the other or a blend of both, this is the ideal destination for you.

The surrounding area of Courchevel, which Zola sits at the very heart of, draws fascination due to its pretty village, striking woodland and views of the astonishing Alps. Those who are fans of all things festive will know that the area has a feel of eternal Christmas but is also a place to escape the mundanity of the real world.
Zola is a truly fantastic property located at the very centre of Courchevel Village.

You can easily access the Three Valleys ski area, which is mere steps from your home and return to the property by foot or by ski. You’re perfectly positioned close to all the amenities you could need, including shops, restaurants and a ski school, ideal for those who are brand new to the sensational world of snow.

From the chalet, you can overlook Courchevel Village from the north and the Tovets slope from the south. The property itself has only recently been renovated and is an inventive combination of traditional Alpine charm and cool modernity.

Clad from wood, the property is decorated harmoniously with the wood, lending warmth to the aesthetic. The cathedral living room is rather magnificent and forms the cornerstone of the property. Here, you can enjoy the vast living room, complete with a peaceful fireplace, an open kitchen and two dining areas, ideal for communal living.

The apartment runs across three levels and contains six en-suite bedrooms. It’s ideally suited to up to ten adults and three children. There’s also a fully equipped ski room and two private parking spaces. Elegant and quirkily modern, this is a spacious property that utilises natural light. Wooden beams, slanted roofs and sharp angles create an eccentric feel that’s still somewhat grounded in traditional Alpine cheeriness.

Peel back the curtains and take in the beauty beyond, enjoy a relaxing bath after a day galivanting on the slopes, and sit out on the terrace to take in the chill in the air and the crunch of snowfall.

What you should know…

  • Courchevel is a lively and thriving location, especially if you’re partial to an apres-ski. But it’s not an area known for its nightlife. This is something to take into consideration if your party consists of many night owls.
  • The area is ideal for families, but please don’t leave children unattended.
  • If you’re travelling with infants please let us know ahead of time so you can be provided with highchairs and baby cots when you arrive.
  • Layers are the key to feeling comfortable in the cold. Prepare some light base layers, some thermals, and warmer outer layers to ensure that you can feel ready to go throughout the day.
  • Don’t scrimp on the sunblock. The sun can still be powerful out here. We recommend factor 50.

Located in the very heart of one of the world's most respected and lavish ski resorts, you're perfectly positioned for easy access from several major airports, including Geneva, Lyon, Grenoble and Chambery. Courchevel is hugely popular with tourists, and as such, it's fairly easy to navigate upon arrival. You can travel to the apartment via the shuttle service, a private taxi or a private vehicle rental service, all of which can be arranged from the airport.

The twin draw of the area is the lavish natural beauty and the prime location for skiing. Winter is often maligned in place of summer. But here you can indulge your love of all things winter, with crisp snow, piercing mountains, enchanting villages and gorgeous woodland. The feel is that of Christmas all year round.

The central location makes it ideal for all the amenities you may need; you can ski into the property, and you're close to a ski school if you've not yet experienced life on the slopes. Here, it's of no concern whether you're a hardened ski veteran or tentatively approaching the slopes for the first time. There are a varied range of courses for you to explore that range from challenging to gentle and accommodate skiers of all skill levels. It's the perfect place to push your boundaries or begin learning.

If skiing isn't your forte, don't despair, for there's plenty for you to do here. Courchevel Village is picturesque and peaceful and peppered with lively boutique shops where you can select some local produce, purchase some warming winter wear, or pick up some souvenirs for your loved ones back home. You can also paraglide over the peaks or tour the mountain on a traditional horse-drawn sleigh.

The area is renowned for its food. The French influence is strong, and you can enjoy a range of pastries, hot chocolates and gourmet restaurants.

The Resort

Courchevel is made up of six satellite villages, each with their own distinct style and atmosphere, and picturesque forest roads to lead you in-between. Most well known is the illustrious Courchevel 1850 with its reputation for exclusivity and an A-List clientele. 1850 is certainly the place to go for five-star hotels, swanky bars and extravagant nightlife. The other Courchevel villages (such as Courchevel Moriond) have a much more laid back vibe and are certainly the more affordable choice.

The skiing in Courchevel is split into four levels and you can take an excellent free ski bus in between. At the resort itself you have 150 kilometres of pistes at your feet and while you can get a Courchevel lift-pass you can also ski the whole of the Three Valleys with an area-pass. Since the slopes here face north, the snow at Courchevel is more reliable than elsewhere in the Three Valleys. Courchevel pistes are absolutely unrivaled, meticulously maintained and perfectly positioned to align with the landscape.

With its highest lift at 2740m altitude, Courchevel is exceptionally good for high altitude skiing with incredible alpine views, and the most impressive runs are best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers. But for the little ones just finding their snow legs, the resort has a fantastic children’s village where they can learn in a stress-free environment. Ski season here lasts until late April and even if you prefer not to ski at all, you’ll be well entertained with everything from scenic walks to classical music concerts.

In the evenings, the Courchevel night skies are lit up by spectacular firework displays that could get anyone in the mood for a night on the town. The bars here are a good mix of casual and upmarket, so there’s plenty for all tastes to enjoy when it comes to après-ski. Courchevel also has a well-earned reputation for being the best ski resort when it comes to gastronomy.

You’ll soon find that Courchevel is tremendously popular with families. It might be due to its perpetual sense of Christmas, the snow-sprinkled landscape, the beautiful woodlands, sleepy villages and high-octane ski slopes with the beautiful backdrop that is the French Alps.

The apartment is cosy and comfortable, with plenty of communal space, a warming fireplace and a children’s bedroom. It’s perfectly placed so that you can easily access Courchevel and the ski slopes, and with two private parking spaces, you can also explore further afield if you wish. Plenty of memories can be made whilst staying in the chalet cosying up watching TV, relaxing by the fire, snuggling up on the sofas and taking in the views from the terrace – they truly are magical!

Beyond hibernating here, we’d recommend exploring the wider area. The village of Courchevel is filled with adorable boutiques and a delicious gourmet food scene. There’s also a local ski school where children can perfect their craft. It’s a wonderful way for them to make new friends whilst building confidence in the snow and getting accustomed to the equipment.

In the town centre, you can spend some time bowling or visiting the Aquamotion sports centre. There’s a great deal to do here, including a vast array of water slides, indoor pools and an outdoor surfing machine, so plenty of fun is to be had.
