Chalet Apartment Modern Self-Catered Ideal for Kids Walk to Village

Hibernate in a haven with the strikingly cosy Apartment Durand. Winter may be renowned as wicked by many who prefer to celebrate summer. Still, for those who understand the enchanting appeal of the colder months, you'll find this blissful winter utopia a place of serenity and adventure in equal measure.

Located in the heart of Courchevel, the property itself is decorated in a recognisable mountain style but with all of the modern comfort and sophistication you'd desire. The apartment is located on the garden level and benefits from the serene setting of the neighbouring village and offers a terrace with rustic views. Sit and enjoy the surrounding nature with a book or a warming cup of cocoa.

Ideal for a party of five, the property boasts 61sqm. Bestowed with a double bedroom, triple bedroom and living space, the apartment creates a den-like feel. A self-catering holiday, you can enjoy cooking up all sorts of delicacies in the communal kitchen. The space is easy to occupy and has the atmosphere of being like a retreat and a sanctuary, making it the ideal place to withdraw from the wider world. It's effortless to feel at home here.

Pure Scandinavian design is at work here. You'll find purposeful lines warmed by light and airy colour. The living space opens through a bay window, exposing a large east-facing terrace. You'll also have your ski room and garage.

The space is simple and inviting yet with muted grey colouring contrasting with the gentle and warming wood. The light fixtures illuminate the space, and the bedrooms are the ideal environment to float off to sleep gently. The exterior of the property itself is truly mesmerising and charming.

You're perfectly placed to take the nearby Praz cable car into Courchevel, which takes approximately six minutes. You can then enjoy the adrenaline of the three valleys before returning to your enchanting property. If you enjoy exploring and indulging in local village life, numerous shops and family-friendly restaurants make this a charming place to whittle away some time.

Your home for your stay is in the heart of one of the world's most legendary and recognised ski resorts.

It's easy to get here with major airports, including Geneva, Lyon, Grenoble and Chambery. Although the distance between airports varies, you'll be able to arrive at the property within three hours by car. Courchevel is well-vested in tourism, making it logistically easy. Upon arrival, you can use the shuttle service, private taxi or a private vehicle rental service directly from the airport.

The draw here is the staggering natural beauty. Its charm is that it's idyllic in a way few places today truly are. It embodies and celebrates winter in every way, making it ideal for those who favour (and savour) the colder months. You can enjoy the fairy-tale woods and the dominating views of the famed Alps.

You're perfectly positioned to enjoy the slopes – closest to the Front de Neige slope. You can very easily enjoy adventures in this snowy wonderland. It doesn't matter if you're a veteran glued to your skis or a total beginner who wants to try something new; the terrain is vast and diverse, allowing skiers of all experience levels to test their mettle. Experts can enjoy challenging, adrenaline-inducing slopes, while beginners enjoy a softer introduction to this extreme sport.

Although skiing is central to many people's experiences of the area, there's plenty more to enjoy in Courchevel, including paragliding over the peaks, touring the mountain and enjoying a traditional horse-drawn sleigh. The village of Courchevel itself is a fantastic village where you can effortlessly whittle away some time. The streets are plentiful with pretty boutique shops where you can select local foods, winter wear and Alpine souvenirs for your nearest and dearest.

Those with an affinity for gastronomy will enjoy the thriving food scene. There are heavenly French pastries on offer, as well as extravagant hot chocolates and a vast array of gourmet restaurants.

The Resort

Courchevel is made up of six satellite villages, each with their own distinct style and atmosphere, and picturesque forest roads to lead you in-between. Most well known is the illustrious Courchevel 1850 with its reputation for exclusivity and an A-List clientele. 1850 is certainly the place to go for five-star hotels, swanky bars and extravagant nightlife. The other Courchevel villages (such as Courchevel Moriond) have a much more laid back vibe and are certainly the more affordable choice.

The skiing in Courchevel is split into four levels and you can take an excellent free ski bus in between. At the resort itself you have 150 kilometres of pistes at your feet and while you can get a Courchevel lift-pass you can also ski the whole of the Three Valleys with an area-pass. Since the slopes here face north, the snow at Courchevel is more reliable than elsewhere in the Three Valleys. Courchevel pistes are absolutely unrivaled, meticulously maintained and perfectly positioned to align with the landscape.

With its highest lift at 2740m altitude, Courchevel is exceptionally good for high altitude skiing with incredible alpine views, and the most impressive runs are best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers. But for the little ones just finding their snow legs, the resort has a fantastic children’s village where they can learn in a stress-free environment. Ski season here lasts until late April and even if you prefer not to ski at all, you’ll be well entertained with everything from scenic walks to classical music concerts.

In the evenings, the Courchevel night skies are lit up by spectacular firework displays that could get anyone in the mood for a night on the town. The bars here are a good mix of casual and upmarket, so there’s plenty for all tastes to enjoy when it comes to après-ski. Courchevel also has a well-earned reputation for being the best ski resort when it comes to gastronomy.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids

The area is a firm favourite for adults and children, making it a true paradise for families. It's not hard to see why the area appeals. Its atmosphere is charged and embodies the spirit of Christmas with its festivity and generosity. With such a vast array of activities and a cosy chalet environment, you can rest assured that you'll all make memories for life.

Children can enjoy their comfortable, warm rooms and enjoy the communal space where you can spend quality family time together. Whether you want to snuggle up and watch TV, make meals together, enjoy dinner at the table, lounge about and take in the astonishing mountain views. The chalet is intended for family time, so you can easily hunker down together.

Part of what makes the location so sublime is its authentic Christmas feel. When children awake to snow-capped mountains, dynamic slopes and inviting villages, they think they've awoken to a dream or accidentally slipped through the wardrobe into Narnia, ruled by the white witch. Children can enjoy one of many ski schools in the area where they can learn to ski whilst making new friends too.
In Courchevel's town centre, you can enjoy bowling, and visit the Aquamotion sports centre. You can enjoy the indoor pools, water slides and outdoor surfing machine here.
