Apartment Colas can be found in the heart of the town of Moriond, sitting 1650m above sea level on the slopes of the exclusive ski resort of Courchevel, overlooking the French Alps. Moriond is the middle village of the three Trois Vallees resorts and is noted for having the most sunshine and the best laid-back vibe.

You’ve got a few choices as to how to reach your holiday home. Within a three-hour radius, there are four international airports, Geneva and Lyon, and in peak season Chambery and Grenoble. From there, hop in a taxi, hire a car, or jump on a regular shuttle bus that will whisk you to your destination. If you are feeling flush, charter a helicopter and arrive in style.

The apartment is at the epicentre of all things Moriond. The closest ski lift is Ariondaz, and the closest slope is the delightfully named Front de Neige, both just twenty metres from the apartment. The ski school for younger guests and beginners is also a very short twenty-metre trek through the snow. The ski resort of Moriond is particularly attractive to families, as it is renowned for its starter blue pistes and gentle green runs.

The town of Moriond has shops and supermarkets stocked with provisions for your stay, including a Spar selling British fodder. Walk through the town to the tourist office for information and assistance. There are lots of bars and restaurants where you can enjoy some seriously good French cuisine. As dusk falls, the town of Moriond comes alive with a vibrant après ski nightlife; there are lots of live music venues where you can party, party, and party until the small hours in late-night bars.

For those who don’t ski, or if you want a day of sliding down the slopes, enjoy a walk by the lake and river with a selection of water sports in season, or see the mountains on a bike. Take a gondola to the other towns; most especially, don’t miss the jet-set Courchevel 1850, where you will find luxury brand designer shopping malls, pampering spas, Michelin-starred restaurants, an ice-skating rink, and a cinema showing films in English and French. Take a seat at a classic French café and sip a hot chocolate as you watch the beautiful people glide by. For the romantically inclined, there’s nothing lovelier than a moonlight sleigh ride through the mountains in a horse-drawn carriage.

The Resort

Courchevel is made up of six satellite villages, each with their own distinct style and atmosphere, and picturesque forest roads to lead you in-between. Most well known is the illustrious Courchevel 1850 with its reputation for exclusivity and an A-List clientele. 1850 is certainly the place to go for five-star hotels, swanky bars and extravagant nightlife. The other Courchevel villages (such as Courchevel Moriond) have a much more laid back vibe and are certainly the more affordable choice.

The skiing in Courchevel is split into four levels and you can take an excellent free ski bus in between. At the resort itself you have 150 kilometres of pistes at your feet and while you can get a Courchevel lift-pass you can also ski the whole of the Three Valleys with an area-pass. Since the slopes here face north, the snow at Courchevel is more reliable than elsewhere in the Three Valleys. Courchevel pistes are absolutely unrivaled, meticulously maintained and perfectly positioned to align with the landscape.

With its highest lift at 2740m altitude, Courchevel is exceptionally good for high altitude skiing with incredible alpine views, and the most impressive runs are best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers. But for the little ones just finding their snow legs, the resort has a fantastic children’s village where they can learn in a stress-free environment. Ski season here lasts until late April and even if you prefer not to ski at all, you’ll be well entertained with everything from scenic walks to classical music concerts.

In the evenings, the Courchevel night skies are lit up by spectacular firework displays that could get anyone in the mood for a night on the town. The bars here are a good mix of casual and upmarket, so there’s plenty for all tastes to enjoy when it comes to après-ski. Courchevel also has a well-earned reputation for being the best ski resort when it comes to gastronomy.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Kids of all ages will love a vacation in the French Alps, especially in the family-friendly town of Moriond, betwixt and between the Village 1550 and Courchevel 1850.

What's great about Apartment Colas is that it is situated in the bull's eye centre of the town of Moriond. The ski lift and nearest slope are both just a twenty-metre walk away. The ski school for your young ones and beginners is also a twenty-metre trek from the apartment. The school is the perfect place for them to start to learn to ski and to make friends of a similar age who can buddy them on the slopes. To keep your younger ones amused, there is a newly opened Child's Playhouse in town, too.

Families love staying at Moriond as it is populated with child-friendly blue slopes and easy, gentle green runs. One of the blue pistes has been christened Indiens and specially themed for children to enjoy with Grey Wolf's tribe Indian camp, complete with Teepees, archery, and face painting; it sounds like super fun.

Keep them active with a three-kilometre toboggan course, which also does night sessions. Similarly, Verdons by night has floodlit blue runs. Swim and splash the day away at the Aquamotion Aquatics Centre in the Village. Enjoy the day at the Family Park for freestyle skiing and snowboarding. Go dog sledging and see the mountains from the cosy comfort of a sledge. Make your way to Western Park at the top of Ariondaz Grande with a magic carpet slope for beginners. For your adrenalin-seeking daredevils, there is paragliding down the mountain for a bird's eye view of Courchevel.

In the evening, take a gondola to Courchevel 1850 and have some family fun at the bowling alley, ice skating rink, or cinema before sharing a piping hot fondue of local cheese.
