Steeped in the rustic beauty and offering guests some of the most incredible ocean and mountain views in all of Madeira, Moradia Eira promises a luxurious and relaxing stay on this stunning Portuguese island. This two-bedroom villa accommodates up to four guests and comes complete with everything you'll need to enjoy a holiday to remember.
Moradia Eira is set in a beautifully elevated position overlooking the ocean, in a tranquil and private location. Decorated throughout in light, natural tones, the interior is fresh, bright and airy, with sprays of exposed stonework, tiled flooring, and accents of quality hardwood. The living area is spacious and well-appointed, with a comfortable corner sofa, large flat screen TV and contemporary-style fixtures for that modern home-from-home touch.
The kitchen/diner is rustic in design, bringing to mind all the charm and warmth of a country farmhouse. It is incredibly well-equipped with plenty of food-preparation space, as well as high-end appliances such as an oven, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster - and even a washing machine and dryer, allowing you and your guests to pack light and save room in your luggage for all those souvenirs! The addition of cookware, crockery, utensils and glassware, as well as a large wooden dining table, meaning that you'll be able to rustle up family breakfasts or evening meals and enjoy them in style - simply throw the double doors open and take in the breathtaking views as you enjoy each other's company in incredible surroundings.
Moradia Eira features two large double bedrooms, making it an ideal choice for two couples who are holidaying together or those with older children. A cot and highchair are available for the youngest guests, so whatever your group dynamic, it should be easy to accommodate everyone comfortably. The bedrooms are decorated to the same high standard as the rest of the villa, in neutral shades and with modern furnishings, providing a calm and restful space in which to relax and unwind. Wherever you are in the villa, the views are sensational, and the bedrooms are no exception - be sure to grab yourself a morning cuppa and step out onto your private balcony to take in the incredible island landscape. The villa also features two modern and stylish bathrooms, which is especially convenient for friendship groups holidaying together.
Moradia Eira offers plenty of outdoor space in which to dine and relax, including several seating areas overlooking the ocean and mountains, a fully-furnished, shaded lounge area, and a nicely-maintained lawn. The jewel in this property's crown is perhaps its infinity pool, which is accessible by steps and looks out across the ocean.
What you should know…
- Due to its location and many steps inside and out, Moradia Eira is not best suited for those with limited mobility
- The villa features two double bedrooms, so it might not be the ideal choice for larger families or those with younger children - although a cot and high chair are available for those under two years old
- Moradia Eira’s private pool doesn’t have a fence or barrier, so parents will want to exercise caution when young children are playing in the vicinity
- The villa is situated close to the town of Calheta, where you’ll find one of the only golden sandy beaches on the island, as well as attractions such as museums, bars and restaurants

Location
About the surrounding area of Moradia EiraMoradia Eira is located in Ribeira Brava along the southern coast of Madeira. Meaning ‘wild stream’, this pretty town has plenty to offer in the way of cafes and shops and includes tourist-friendly facilities, including a sports centre that features football fields, tennis, squash and paddleboard courts, and a covered sports field for baseball and basketball.
The central beach is conveniently located near restaurants and bars and offers sandy areas as well as pebbled areas mixed with black sand. This man-made recreational area offers facilities such as children’s pools, lounge areas and changing rooms, as well as areas to play beach volleyball, football, and sunbathe.
Ribeira Brava is situated close to the seaside town of Calheta, one of the island’s most historic and idyllic locations. The town is famous for its banana and sugar cane plantations and its vineyards, as well as for having one of the only golden sandy beaches on the island - making it a go-to place for tourists. The area features a modern marina, as well as being popular with those who love outdoor pursuits, including hiking, biking, surfing, kayaking, windsurfing, scuba diving and paragliding. It’s also one of the most fantastic spots on the island for whale and dolphin-spotting, and you’ll find plenty of places offering whale-watching tours and boat trips along the marina.
Contemporary art lovers will enjoy a visit to the Mudas Museum - and even those who aren’t will enjoy the views from the museum’s high cliff-top location. Here you’ll find a collection of contemporary Portuguese art dating from the 1960s to the present, although it’s worth knowing before you make the trip that the museum is only open Tuesday to Sunday. Another small yet interesting museum that is well worth a visit when you visit Calheta is the Sugar Cane Mill and museum - especially as entry is free! The museum houses machinery that was once used to process sugar cane, as well as a working mill which is still used to produce sugar cane honey today.
Once you’ve had your fill of beaches and sightseeing, head to one of the town’s unique bars or cafes, which include Pukiki Bar, the very instagrammable Sem Idade Cafe - famous for its rooftop pool, and Maktub Pub, which features a relaxed atmosphere, well-priced and delicious cocktails, and a beautiful sunset view.

Calheta, meaning ‘Small Cove’, is where many tourists flock to in order to indulge in beautiful man-made beaches and striking scenery.
This part of Madeira is formed of several municipalities, each with something unique and special to offer. Calheta Village is an ideal place to start especially if you enjoy a stiff drink! An old sugar cane factory still produces one of the world’s most respected white rums – Aguardente…perhaps you want to leave this part of your holiday till late in the evening!

For lovers of seafood, you should look no further than Paul do Mar. This is a village where most of the fisherman work out of, so you know you’ll be able to find the catch of the day here.
For those who have travelled to Madeira for its inland beauty, then look no further than Arco da Calheta and Prazeres. Within these locations you won’t only be able find some stunning hiking trails, but you’re also likely to stumble across some traditionally styled Parishes and unforgettable views.
ABOUT MADEIRA
The island of Madeira can be found south west of mainland Portugal, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Due to the island’s location, its is considered to have a Mediterranean climate that serves locals and visitors all year round – making it an ideal escape from reality at any point in the year.
What we love Madeira for is its seemingly ongoing festivals! Madeirans have found an excuse to celebrate most things; including film, their natural surroundings and key patron saints. This means that planning a visit during these days and even weeks of commemoration is well worth it (scroll down to see some key dates).
Madeira is divided into several municipals, each with a special offering to those who visit this island. Our favourite two communities are Funchal and Calheta and these are where you will find most of our beautiful villas.
Madeira’s landscape extends much more than a striking coastline. Make sure you pack some hiking boots and venture inland during your stay. With mountainous trails along Vereda do Arieiro, or more countryside appropriate paths like Levada do Risco and waterfall chasing treks like Levada do Caldeirao Verde – this archipelago has everything a keen outdoors person requires.
For those who enjoy either playing or watching sports, you’ll be happy to know Madeira offers so much selection. Madeira is also home to three notable football clubs, so if you’re visiting during the football season and want to see a good quality of football, you have every chance to. Porto Santo Golfe is the island’s renowned golf course. With an 18-hole course (Par 72) overlooking a Galapagos-like backdrop, golf enthusiasts will certainly want a ‘slice’ of the action! Surfers can access some great beaches like Jardim do Mar, Ponta Pequena, Paul do Mar, and Fajã da Ovelha in order to find some swell. Or, if you’re simply looking to recline on a sun lounger and soak up some rays, whilst listening to crystal clear waves break as they hit the shores, you will find plenty of man-made beaches & Lidos created for your leisure!
With a superb climate, close proximity to the coastline, wonderful cuisine, charming locals and astonishing scenery – this is a fabulous holiday choice for families & friends.
But while you're enjoying one of our fantastic villas in Madeira, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we've put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesMoradia Eira's quiet, private location makes it a good choice for families with kids. Here you'll be able to relax and take in the atmosphere while the kids play in the shaded garden or splash about in the private pool, and alfresco family meals while overlooking the island and ocean are sure to enthral guests of all ages. This really is the ideal place to relax as a family and enjoy each other's company, with plenty of activities available in the local area, including watersports, walking trails and cycling.
Ribeira Bravais itself is home to several fascinating museums that curious young minds will enjoy, including the Ethnographic museum, which houses interesting instruments from the past, including those used to make the island's famously sweet Madeira wine, as well as ancient fishing boats and replica grocery stores of old. The town has several shops, cafes and restaurants to enjoy, and children of all ages will have fun seeing attractions such as the town's lighthouse and the Fort of Sao Bento.
If you're after something a little more adventurous to enjoy with the kids, in nearby Calheta, you'll find courses in scuba diving and snorkelling available, as well as whale-watching tours, so for the chance to do something unique with the children during your holiday, it's well worth heading to the marina and seeing what activities are available.
Younger children will enjoy spending time at Calheta's famous playground situated right on the beach and featuring a pirate ship climbing frame and swings and bouncers for younger children before heading off for a day playing on the golden sands. The beach at Calheta is one of few on the island that isn't a pebble, and this large, beautiful, man-made beach can get fairly crowded in the summer months, largely down to its soft sands and easy accessibility. The kids will enjoy the family-friendly vibe here and the fact that they can paddle and swim in safety thanks to the barrier that creates an enclosed swimming area and prevents the larger waves from spoiling the fun! There are some great amenities available, including ample parking, parasol hire, grocery stores and a fantastic beachside cafe that serves fruit platters and great coffee at very reasonable prices. The cafe plays music during the day and even has WiFi that reaches down to the beach, so be sure to get the password when you're in there buying refreshments!
