However, you’ll also find an abundance of affordable shopping options and tempting food vendors too. Also, whether you’re a fan of shopping or not, the street is architecturally stunning, with charming, traditional cobbled streets and elegant buildings, flowers, plants, and statues.

If you fancy a brief escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, take a stroll through the Edward VII Park. The biggest park in central Lisbon, you’ll love the panoramic views of the city. You’ll also find a greenhouse filled with exotic species of plants from tropical climates. Simply stroll through the park’s gardens or relax on the grassy hills, absorbing the stunning views of the city. You won’t want to miss out on the park’s famous ‘Amália Rodrigues’ Garden, dedicated to the Portuguese fado singer. Another scenic spot to explore, and only 10 minutes from your apartment, the Praça do Comércio is a must-see attraction. Surrounded by picturesque yellow buildings, located near the Tagus River, this is the perfect place to enjoy a stroll along the riverbank.

Returning to the bustling city centre, you’re bound to be hungry after so much sight-seeing. Wander down the lively pedestrian street of Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, renowned for its delicious seafood restaurants. In the afternoon, you might fancy a bit of learning and history, so why not visit one of Lisbon’s fantastic museums? Art-lovers will be taken with the National Museum of Contemporary Arts, conveniently located near Avenida de Liberdade, and featuring a collection of Portuguese contemporary art. In the historically charming Alfama district, you’ll find the Lisbon Museum, a great all-encompassing cultural experience for those wanting to learn about the overall history and culture of this fascinating city. Make sure you have your phone at the ready to take a snap of the Lisbon Cathedral, also in the Alfama District.

If you do fancy going a little further afield, you could use public transport to visit the famous Belem Tower. One of Portugal’s most famous monuments, and constructed in the 16th century, the Belem Tower was once used as a fortification to guard the city. Impressively, it’s now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as is the Jeronimos Monastery. Also built in the 16th century, the monastery is a classic example of Portuguese Manueline architecture, and visitors can wander around and learn about its fascinating history.

Located just outside of Lisbon, and 30 minutes away by train, you might want to visit the whimsical town of Sintra if you have a few more days. Famous for its stunning, historical buildings, including the Monserrate Palace and the Moorish Castle, Sintra is simply bursting with rich history, picturesque landscapes, and idyllic gardens. If you fancy a day out of the city centre, you won’t regret a visit to one of the most impressive towns in Portugal.
