Enjoying a light, neutral decor throughout with splashes of soft turquoise and seafoam-green, the apartment’s glorious open-plan living space is the perfect place for chilling out with the whole family. Here you’ll find large cosy sofas and a flatscreen TV for enjoying a lazy evening’s entertainment and a beautifully crafted dining space for intimate indoor meals. About the surrounding area of Algarve PenthouseAlgarve Penthouse is part of an exclusive holiday resort on the Algarve, an area famous for its golden, sandy beaches and glittering coastline. Here guests can enjoy an array of luxurious amenities, including swimming pools, a spa, bars and restaurants. The beaches on the Algarve are plentiful and situated just metres from your apartment - perfect for guests who won’t have use of a vehicle during their stay. Evaristo beach is one of the closest and most beautiful, far enough away from busy Albufeira to retain its quiet charm, and dotted with rock formations which are great for exploring!
This Blue Flag Award-winner has an up-market feel and attracts its fair share of the rich and famous thanks to its cosy feel, clean sands and clear waters. The beach is serviced by lifeguards during the summer months, and amenities include showers and toilets, as well as snack bars and restaurants serving fresh fish and seafood. There is good disabled access here, with a boardwalk that runs to and along the beach (also handy for those with prams and pushchairs), and also the opportunity to hire sun loungers and parasols, and even pedalos.
One of the most beautiful beaches in the world is nearby Marinha beach (if you’ve ever seen pictures or videos of the Algarve, you will have seen it!) and is famous for its spectacular setting and calm, turquoise waters. Its golden sands are nestled at the base of impressive limestone cliffs, which have been eroded over time to create unique formations such as the well-known double sea arch, Arcos Naturais - one of the most photographed natural features of the Algarve. Marinha is incredibly popular with families, as it remains sheltered from the wind, and the clear waters make it a prime spot for snorkelling and swimming.
If you want to check out how the other half live, Oliver recommends venturing to Vilamoura or Albufeira marinas to see the impressive yachts and maybe check out some of the exclusive Michelin-starred restaurants, stylish beachside hangouts, or buzzing beach clubs. You’ll find vibes ranging from mellow and chilled-out to high-energy here, so there really is something for everyone.
If you choose to venture inland, you’ll find plenty of historic towns to explore, with pretty cobbled streets and bustling markets, as well as lots of beautiful hiking and cycling trails through peaceful forests and lemon groves, and of course, some of the most beautiful golf courses in the world.

THE REGION
Albufeira is one of the Algarve's top hotspots. It's a charismatic beach town with an energetic and busy vibe where every type of holidaymaker can find something to enjoy. Not only is it family friendly and bursting with great activities for kids and teens, there is also a buzzing nightlife scene on the downtown strip for adults travelling on their own.
If you’re after something a bit more cultural, there is also a beautiful Old Town where all the best restaurants and historical sites can be found. For those looking to get a little bit extra out of their Albufeira stay, Vidamar Resort in the Salgados area offers all the perks of staying in a self-catered villa plus the amenities of a luxury resort.
Not far from there you’ll also come across the beachy Sao Rafael as well as Galé where the sandy stretches and deep blue waves will have you thinking you’re on the set of a photoshoot. Golf lovers might want to head to Amendoeira Golf Resort, located a quick fifteen minutes from Albufeira, which is perfect those who like a good game while still staying close to town.

Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesOne of the best things about staying at a resort with the kids is being able to enjoy all of the fabulous amenities as a family, and here you’ll find residents-only pools, a dedicated child’s pool, and a number of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. The Algarve Penthouse is spacious enough to accommodate everyone comfortably and offers plenty of room to all eat together, alfresco or inside. There are some stairs both in the penthouse and on the private terrace, and the private pool is unfenced, so very young children will need to be well supervised.
You’ll find plenty of watersports to enjoy on the Algarve, with something to suit all ages, from snorkelling and swimming the clear, turquoise waters to stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking and sailing. You can hire equipment from a lot of the beaches and stick close to the coast, or if you want to head into more open waters, you’ll find plenty of guided tours along the coast. Boat trips are popular with visitors to the Algarve, so Oliver recommends booking at least one during your stay and exploring the coastline with the kids. Whether you want to discover untouched beaches, explore hidden coves and dramatic caves, or spot some of the region’s amazing wildlife - including dolphins - you’re sure to find a boat trip to accommodate you.
One of the biggest attractions in the region for families with children is Aquashow Park, which is located just a few minutes from Vilamoura. This huge water park features slides and water coasters for kids (and adults!) of all ages to enjoy, including free-fall racing slides, a lazy river and wave pool, and even a specialised area for toddlers and babies.
Little animal lovers will enjoy a day out at Lagos Zoo, which is home to over 140 species, including primates and exotic birds, as well as featuring a petting zoo where the kids can interact with friendly donkeys, goats, guinea pigs and rabbits - it’s perfect for younger kids. With a focus on conservation, the zoo offers plenty of opportunities for the children to learn more about the animals and the work that is being done to protect them, as well as allowing them to see the animals being fed. The zoo is extremely accessible and easy to navigate with pushchairs and wheelchairs, making it a great day out for all ages and abilities.
