Castello Chianti is situated deep in the heart of Tuscany surrounded by enchanting olive groves and vineyards and is the ideal place to indulge in a tranquil stay embraced by the beautiful hills of Chianti. Located near Grassina and only 15km from Florence in the beautiful Tuscan countryside and wonderfully landscaped gardens lies this stylish castello.
The castle comprises a large complex consisting of the villa, the tower, the romantic park, French garden, the outdoor infinity swimming pool and barbecue terrace. Castello Chianti has belonged to many prestigious Florentine families over the decades and has been beautifully renovated to create a wonderful property to rent or host a wedding.
Castello Chianti can comfortably sleep up to 14 guests in 8 individually designed bedrooms. Feel like royalty yourself in this sophisticated castle which comes complete with a majestic ballroom, botanical gardens and the grand dining hall. All rooms have been designed to incorporate the castle’s history with many traditional furniture pieces throughout.
The French gardens were designed by a famous landscaped architect and guests can enjoy outdoor living whilst taking in the panoramic views of the rolling hills of Chianti and the Dome of Florence Cathedral.
Explore the Chianti area and its delightful villages such as Greve, Imprueta and Panzano.

What you should know…
- Quiet and non-intrusive castle owners and their dogs live in a separate part of the villa with their own entrance, they will be very happy to help. The gardens and pool are reserved exclusively for guests only.
- A ground floor bedroom can be arranged for guests with reduced mobility. Please enquire in advance should anyone in your party require this.
- Air-conditioning is featured in three of the seven bedrooms and the ground floor dining room and sitting room. The remaining four bedrooms benefit from portable air conditioning systems.
- When minimum occupancy is booked, certain rooms may not be accessible (subject to owner's discretion) - best to enquire with us beforehand

Location
About the surrounding area of Castello ChiantiCastello Chianti is located around 15km south of Florence in the rolling Chianti hills, surrounded by landscapes of vineyards and olive groves so typical of this part of Tuscany.
Discover local restaurants in nearby villages within a 5 to 10-minute drive or head a little further towards other Tuscan gems in the Chianti countryside to truly experience the charm of this region. Look out for summer events taking place in the historic town of Impruneta (15km), visit one of the olive oil presses if staying in late autumn and perhaps purchase some of the terracotta that the town is famous for.
Visit the many iconic vineyards of this area, perhaps starting off in Greve in Chianti (18km) where a wonderful market takes place on a Saturday morning or it’s a fine place for lunch and a little shopping on other days of the week. Panzano (26km) is another enchanting place to explore with several atmospheric restaurants and café terraces as well as an outdoor market every Sunday morning.
Other trips include Castellina in Chianta and Radda, both around a 45-minute drive away, or venture west to Montespertoli (45km), a Tuscan hilltop village famed for its wine, truffles and olive oil. Further south is the gorgeous town of Siena (70km), ideal for an exceptional day out at one of Italy’s most famous destinations, whilst San Gimignano (60km) can be reached within an hour.
The castle can help organise wine and olive oil tasting tours as well as bike hire, a fantastic way to reach stunning villages and endless vineyards. Perhaps you may prefer to admire the glorious scenery on horse-back.
Not forgetting Florence, of course - you can catch a glimpse of Florence Cathedral’s dome from the castello’s panoramic terrace. Around 15km by car, it’s such a beautiful city to discover as you wander around its historic lanes filled with pretty terrace cafes, boutiques and vibrant restaurants. Set off early to soak up the ambience of the bustling markets, then stop off for a coffee in one of the famous squares. As evening approaches, come across one of the many bars offering aperitivi accompanied by delicious food, or simply enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the vintage carousel on Piazza della Repubblica.
Some of the great sights of Florence include Ponte Vecchio, the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, Il Duomo, the belltower and the Basilica of Santa Croce. If you have time, head slightly outside the city, perhaps via the historic Giardino di Boboli, and take in the incredible views from Piazzale Michelangelo.

Young historians may enjoy a trip to the pre-medieval set-up at Poggibonsi Archaeodrome, just under an hour away (check opening times in advance) or you can admire Etruscan remains in many local villages and towns scattered across this part of Tuscany – there is an archaeological museum in Castellina in Chianti (Museo Archeologico del Chianti Senese).
A day out in Florence is sure to appeal to every age! Ride on the vintage carousel at Piazza della Repubblica, explore the historic Boboli Gardens, pre-book tickets to visit one of the many museums and galleries, followed of course by a gelato on a pretty café terrace. The Palazzo Vecchio is known to be especially family-friendly and you can also arrange family tours of the Uffizi Gallery. Tired legs may also appreciate a trip on the open-top tourist bus that transports you across the city.
