What’s more, this villa offers an ideal location within walking distance of the local pizzeria and grocery store and just a 5-minute drive to the nearest beach.
The interiors of this traditional Sicilian property will leave you speechless. Whilst maintaining its old 17th-century charm with gorgeous touches such as arched ceilings and intricate frescoes dating back to the 1700s, it also offers a touch of modernity with its contemporary furniture. There is ample space to relax, with 6 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, a cinema room, library, dining area, living room and a fully equipped kitchen with a pizza oven.
The outdoor area of Villa Il Chiostro is just as spectacular, with a delightful garden area filled with orange trees, an inviting private pool and a glorious upper terrace with an array of tables for dining al-fresco. Surrounded by outstanding natural scenery, the garden and the pool area are the perfect spots to unwind in. Head up to the terrace for some excellent views of Mount Etna whilst you enjoy an aperitivo or delicious homemade pizzas.
When you wish to explore the surrounding areas, you will be delighted to find a handful of amenities within walking distance such as local pizzerias and small supermarkets. You can even walk just ten minutes (along the side of a road) or drive to a beautiful botanical garden from this villa.
Known for its wine making, the plains around the villa have harvested various crops over the years, including almonds and lemons, and walking amongst the vineyards here will leave you feeling truly immersed in the serene countryside.
Additionally, you only have to drive for 5 minutes to reach the nearest pebbly beach, Spiaggia di Praiola, and you could be striking out in the azure Mediterranean Sea in no time at all!
A 45-minute drive from Villa Il Chiostro takes you to the remarkable Parco Dell’Etna where you can marvel at the incredible active volcano, Mount Etna.
The ancient city of Catania, full of history and character, is only a 25-minute drive away and is a must-visit during your holiday in northeastern Sicily. The popular and impressive town of Taormina can be reached in just 30 minutes by car while the picturesque city of Syracuse is a little further afield and also not to be missed.

- Although local amenities can be reached on foot from Villa Il Chiostro (via a road), it is still recommended to hire a car if you would like to reach a wider range of amenities and to travel to other towns, cities and nature sites.

About the surrounding area of Villa Il ChiostroSituated in a lovely residential area amongst farmlands and vineyards and surrounded by the glorious Sicilian countryside, Villa Il Chiostro offers a fabulous location for your holiday in northeastern Sicily.
While the villa benefits from a serene countryside location, a handful of amenities are within close proximity, including a local pizzeria which is just a 5-minute walk away and a grocery shop which is only a 10-minute walk from the villa. Moreover, you are a short 5-minute drive away from the nearest beach, Spiaggia Di Praiola. Here you can set up camp on the pebbly shoreline and spend the day relaxing in the sun and swimming in the inviting Mediterranean Sea.
Furthermore, this property is within an hour’s drive from the unbelievable Parco Dell’Etna. This remarkable 58-hectare national park is home to caves, spectacular wildlife and of course, the highest active volcano in Europe, Mount Etna. There are many different hiking routes throughout the park, all of which offer tremendous views. In addition, some of the most amazing wine in Italy is grown in the fertile soil on Mount Etna. Take the opportunity to head for a wine tasting and vineyard tour when visiting this extraordinary nature spot.
For a wider variety of restaurants and cultural attractions, make sure to head to the fantastic city of Catania, which is under a 30-minute drive away. As well as an array of restaurants, bars and shops to visit there are many Baroque buildings and terrific sites to see here, including the Roman Theatre, Castello Ursino and Cattedrale di Sant’Agata. For fresh, local seafood pay a visit to Catania’s famous fish market and stock up on ingredients for cooking up a delicious meal back at the villas.
The spellbinding town of Taormina is just a 30-minute car journey away. The Piazza IX Aprile, Teatro Antico di Taormina and the Valley of the Temples are just some of the sites not to be missed here. Make sure to also visit the phenomenal nature reserve of Isola Bella, an island which is connected to the mainland by a short strip of sand and can also be reached by cable car. There’s a pebble beach on offer here, as well as crystal-clear waters for swimming and trying activities such as snorkelling and diving.Another astonishing attraction to see in Taormina is the Chiesa Madonna Della Rocca. It provides some of the best views in town and is worth the hike to get there!
Further afield, towards the Southern tip of Sicily, the historic city of Syracuse is only an hour’s drive away. Here you can admire the city’s rich Greek and Roman history, culture and architecture, as well as exploring the island of Ortigia.

Where Sicilian nature is intertwined with rich history, Villa Il Chiostro is a very special place to host your beautiful Italian wedding.
In the heart of the countryside with magnificent views towards Mount Etna yet also close to the sea, embrace the authentic Sicilian surroundings as you say your vowels amongst the citrus trees, olive grove and vines.
Indulge in your wedding feast with family and friends making the most of the flavours of the island, perhaps accompanied by Nerello Mascalese wine that has been produced in this region for generations.
Dance the evening away by the idyllic swimming pool before retiring to your sophisticated abode with its 17th century frescoes that were discovered during its exquisite restoration.
Wedding Reception
There is space across the beautiful grounds for a wedding reception for 50-60 people.
Dancing can take place by the swimming pool. Marquee hire is usually mandatory and at the moment this is the only option in case of poor weather.
There are no specific time restraints to the event but music should be turned down to a low volume by midnight.
Wedding Ceremony
In all cases, a ceremony can be set up for 50-60 people whether on the lawn, on the main terrace or in the old winery.
The venue can help organise an English speaking celebrant.
Where to Stay
Up to 18 guests can stay at Villa Il Chiostro whilst there is other accommodation nearby for a further 30-40 people, if organised and booked in advance.
The venue can give you details on transportation firms to get guests to and from the venue.
Wedding Planning
The venue fee usually includes an event planner but if you would like a professional wedding planner as well, this would be at an extra cost (or you can use your own).
Catering
The venue can help organise external caterers or you can provide your own.
Other Information
Events can take place from April to September.
The venue has no exclusive suppliers but they can help put you in touch with various services such as beautician, hairdresser, transfers provider, florist, music provider, photographer, bar tender etc.
Please note that any event rental may be subject to additional charges, venue hire fees and to a higher security deposit, which will be in addition to any published rental rates and fees.
All events are on request only and subject to prior agreement from the owner, who reserves the right to refuse all events without their prior authorisation.

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
The family tradition is to live the villa during the wine harvest (vendemmia) in the end of summer between August and September. In this time of the year the owner spent few weeks in the countryside and be all together. We spent in the villa most Sundays as kids, exploring freely the nature with our cousins. We used to play freely in expanses of wild yellow daisies where we got lost some times. Adults used to follow traditional rituals such as preparing tomato sauce, doing pizza in the traditional oven, in summer time the tv was placed outside and some friends were coming over to spent time together. We celebrated in the villa family weddings and friend’s weddings.
What insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
Have a long walk and explore how the real nature and cultivations here. Inside the fenced property you will see lemon cultivation, avocados and vineyard. Guests can ask to visit the wine cellar in the ground floor of the villa and taste the local wine produced with our grapes. This area is closed in the regular days except if guests ask for a visit.

A amazing place full of history. The rooms are renovated with a lot of passion. There is a big and beautiful garden. The service and the hospitality of the whole family is extraordinary. It's hard to find something comparable for such a fair price. We enjoyed every minute and hope to come back soon.

Our stay was the exact definition of a Sicilian dream experience ❤️ The rooms were amazing, beautiful, and well furnished. The localization and the villa were breath-taking (view on the sea and Etna from the terrace was just magnificent).

Wir kommen wieder - das ist sicher!
Wo Meer und Ätna sich auf halbem Weg begegnen, entspringt ein kleines Paradies. Es ist ein Ort mit alter Seele und langer Tradition. In den Gemäuern stecken Geschichten über Geschichten, die von der Familie gewahrt und mit viel Liebe weitergetragen werden. Die sizilianische Wärme ist hier nicht nur durch die Sonne spürbar, sondern vor allem durch die Herzlichkeit der Gastgeber, die das geschichtsträchtige Familienanwesen mit viel Hingabe restauriert haben und nun für Gäste aus der ganzen Welt öffnen.
Mein Mann und ich fühlten uns unheimlich wohl an diesem besonderen Ort. Paola und ihre Eltern sind wunderbare Menschen, die alles dafür tun, dass man sich als Gast rundum wohlfühlt. Das Hotel ist ideal für Ausflüge in der Umgebung und entspannte Stunden auf dem Anwesen. Wir kommen wieder - das ist sicher! -
An Amazing Time
We had an amazing time in early March 2023 at this beautiful old winery/villa turned boutique hotel perched between Mount Etna and the sea. The hospitality of the owner and her family is outstanding and they made us feel welcome, looked after every moment of our one-week stay, and helped us organise activities. The mornings started with a delicious breakfast including homemade food and unique Sicilian treats such as granita and fresh pastries. When the weather was nice (which luckily was almost every day), we had breakfast on their stunning terrace with views on Etna and the sea. My partner celebrated her birthday here and the staff organised a birthday cake for the day. We also made our own pasta and had a delicious home cooked 3-course meal during our stay. The house is surrounded by a beautiful garden with citrus trees and vines. Our room was next to the reception area. It was quiet, spacious and had all necessary amenities. The beautifully restored ceiling fresco made the room extra special. There’s lots of nice places to sit and relax outside. We hired a car and explored the surrounding area. There is lots to see, as the hotel is conveniently located between Catania and Taormina with many small seaside towns in between. The town the hotel is located in has several good bakeries and an amazing hammam/spa which we would definitely recommend.
