Overview
Experience the beauty and tranquillity of nature at Villa Cucchiella, a minimalist abode on the edge of Vendicari Nature Reserve in southeast coastal Sicily. Surrounded only by rolling plains and dipping hills, this calm retreat calls for long walks and hikes through the surrounding idyllic countryside.
Just off the toe of Italy’s boot, the country’s largest Mediterranean island is steeped in rich history. It is well known for its wonderful cuisine, unspoilt beaches and ancient towns, and the looming Mount Etna, one of Europe’s highest active volcanoes. Luckily, Villa’s Cucchiella’s superb location allows you to discover all the highlights of this sun-kissed island.
Spread over one level, the modern house sits within neatly manicured gardens framed by olive and carob trees, with panoramic views below.
Designed to accommodate six guests, the interiors have been finished to a high standard with neutral-hued sofas and minimalist furniture lending a luxurious feel. Spacious and equally tastefully decorated, each of the three bedrooms has its own en-suite bathroom to provide guests with privacy and comfort. With floor-to-ceiling windows letting an abundance of natural light in, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to soak up the harmonious views or keep tabs on children playing outside on the lawn. On warm evenings, the shaded patio is the perfect place to serve refreshing aperitifs alongside homemade Mediterranean dishes, while on sun-drenched days, the cutting-edge pool will provide a much-needed shelter from the blazing Italian temperatures.
The closest city, UNESCO-protected Noto, is only a 20-minute drive away, and it is known for its Baroque architecture, dazzling palaces, and trendy corners worth exploring. The city’s vast central square is also home to an enchanting Fontana dell’ Elefante statue and a richly decorated Catania Cathedral.
For a complete change of scenery, head to the Vendicari Nature Reserve, located only a 25-minute drive away. Those seeking adventure can explore the nearby Vendicari Nature Reserve, full of hiking and walking trails and many mysterious coves. The reserve is made up of 1,500 hectares of unspoiled, protected land, including five different beaches – consider this a unique alternative for a day trip.

Once the most important cultural and political centre, home to many of Italy's most prominent artists, its artistic past is reflected in the whimsical piazzas, Baroque and Renaissance architecture, and a sun-kissed coastline.
