The owners have renovated these two penthouse apartments with contemporary elegance. With open-plan living, superbly equipped kitchens and four modern bedrooms and bathrooms, everything has been finished to a high standard and with a great eye for design. On the top floor of a smart holiday residence with its own helpful reception, the two apartments are rented together with an interconnecting door, each with two bedrooms and their own living areas, making them ideal for an extended family or a group of friends.
The sea-views from the terraces are amazing whether you’re sipping an espresso on one of the outdoor sofas, dining al-fresco as the sun sets or relaxing on the spectacular roof terrace with its 2-person hot tub and perfectly positioned sun-loungers. With the warm Sicilian sun beating down, you will feel like you are in your very own private paradise as you look out to the azure sea.
Wander out of the residence and a beautiful stretch of beach is waiting for you with crystal-clear water that is ideal for paddling, swimming and snorkelling. Hire a lounger at the residence’s own summer beach club or stroll a little further to discover a range of lidos and beachside restaurants. A small fishing village, now a charming seaside resort, is also just a short walk away with its long beach and promenade. Head a little further south and you will discover amazing nature reserves near Mazzarò, wonderful boat trips out to caves and hidden bays and a range of watersports in Giardini-Naxos.
Historic Taormina is also so close, just a short drive or bus ride away or you can even arrive by cable car from Mazzarò. The town’s historic sights are incredible from the ancient Greek amphitheatre to the 13th century cathedral and medieval narrow lanes filled with boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Taormina is idyllic in every way with sensational views over the sea and towards Mount Etna.
Indeed, there are many ways to visit majestic Mount Etna such as train, jeep and guided tours or admire its beauty from afar as you drive to beautiful villages nearby. La Preziosa is a fantastic place from which to explore the mesmerising highlights of this spectacular corner of northern Sicily.
What you should know…
- La Preziosa comprises of two apartments rented together, one slightly larger than the other, with a connecting door between them. They are on the top floor of a smart holiday residence with its own helpful reception.
- There are also two sofa-beds for up to four extra guests on request and subject to a supplement - please enquire.
- It’s worth hiring a car to make the most of this beautiful part of Sicily. There is a convenient car park in front of the residence just before you reach the beach.
- It’s just 1.5km to the nearest railway station with a regional train running north to Messina or south towards Catania – the railway line runs just behind the residence, as well as a national road and motorway. Guests staying in two of the rear bedrooms may hear some noise.
- For larger groups travelling together, La Preziosa can be rented alongside the neighbour unit La Preziosa Piccola.
- The private beach is only open seasonally, and it's a bit too chilly for a swim in the cooler months.

About the surrounding area of La PreziosaIn a smart holiday residence with amazing sea views, La Preziosa enjoys a privileged location just a few steps from a beautiful beach and within walking distance to a number of shops and restaurants. Historic Taormina is just 9km away, reached by car, taxi or bus.
The shingle beach in front of the residence is ideal for swimming, snorkelling or sunbathing. Paddle in the Ionian (bring your jelly shoes), swim in the clear water and enjoy evening strolls by the shore as the sun sets – this really is a stunning location. The residence has its own beach club which you can pay for or discover one of the many other summer lidos and dine in beachside restaurants a short walk away.
You can also stroll to a fishing village, around 1km away, now a pleasant seaside resort with its long beach, delightful promenade, lovely sea-food restaurants and bars. The village also has a convenient railway station with departures north to Messina or south towards Catania.
One of the main highlights of this area is the idyllic hilltop town of Taormina (9km) which can be reached by car, taxi, bus (from the local village) or even cable car from Mazzarò, around 4km away. One of Sicily’s most exquisite and historic towns, its perched position means you can enjoy incredible views. Admire the boutiques along Corso Umberto I and wander around the Borgo Medievale with its magnificent 13th century cathedral. The ancient Greek Theatre is mesmerising with views of Mount Etna on a clear day; look out for summer events taking place inside the ancient theatre. You will be rewarded with yet more wonderful vistas by climbing up Monte Tauro just above Taormina.
Back down at the coast, there are a number of beaches and seaside towns including Giardini-Naxos (8km) with all sorts of activities such as watersports, boat trips or hire as well as plenty of lidos and beach restaurants to choose from. History lovers will also appreciate the Parco e Museo Archeologico di Naxos at the southern end of the town.
Mazzarò (4km) is also wonderful with boat trips taking you to swim in the Baia delle Sirene (mermaid’s bay) or visit nearby caves. Spaggia Isola Bella enjoys a sensational location (although a little tricky to reach) with its rocky beach and there’s a little island just off the beach with its own nature reserve – a paradise for snorkellers.
There are also amazing opportunities to visit Mount Etna with many guided excursions available or train enthusiasts can visit with the Circumetnea railway, an interesting way to see some of the villages and area around the volcano with departures from Giarre-Riposto (28km). Randazzo (46km) is just an hour away by car and one of the closest villages to the summit, perhaps combine it with a visit to Castiglione di Sicilia (32km), classified as one of Italy’s most beautiful villages.

Best Suited For: All AgesThe glorious shingle beach is right in front of the residence; you can either hire sun beds and umbrellas at the residence’s own summer beach club or find a spot to yourself near the sea. Take jelly shoes and paddle in the clear waters, have a swim or go snorkelling. There are also many summer lidos dotted along this part of the coastline; it’s great to be able to rent a couple of sun beds and a sun-shade for the day, some also bring snacks and drinks to you.
You will find watersports along this part of the coast as well, especially in Giardini-Naxos, around 9km away. There are more snorkelling opportunities around Spiaggia Isola Bella which connects to a little island which is now a nature reserve. Boat trips also take you out to see stunning caves and idyllic bays close by.
A fun way to reach Taormina is to take the cable car from Mazzarò (be aware of summer queues, especially on the way down at the end of the day). The historic town will enchant children with its incredible views out to sea and towards Mount Etna as well as its beautiful sights. Look out for festivities and events that may be taking place during your stay, especially at the incredible Teatro Greco, a must for young historians. Soak up the atmosphere along Corso Umberto as you admire the shop windows and historic sights with a gelato in hand.
If you are thinking of visiting Mount Etna then have a look at various excursions available. One option is to take the Cable Car, the Funivia dell'Etna, from Rifugio Sapienza or there are options of visiting nearby villages on the Circumetnea railway.
