Villa Della Nurra is a sleek, contemporary designed bungalow on the open northwestern Nurra plains of Sardinia, set within acres of lush olive groves farm. Positioned in a tranquil, rural corner between Porto Torres and Alghero, the villa marries slick style with traditional Sardinian charm.
Both simple but effective, Villa Della Nurra offers newly built, low-key and unpretentious holiday living: gorgeous neutral and minimal interiors will suit those aesthetes who go for a modern look. Stream-lined, open plan living at its best.
The lateral layout and wonderful soft interior light ensure this is not just another quaint little holiday cottage. Design finesse is apparent, from exposed wooden beams, state-of-the-art kitchen, trendy spotlighting - subtle luxury sets the tone.
Decked out in stunning soft greys, whites and charcoals, the living space is both cosy and contemporary - Villa Della Nurra provides both function and style without going overboard. Sleek counter-tops, ample kitchen space integrated with an informal open plan dining area - this space offers the most natural setting for a family or friends who enjoy understated living.
The large living space flows naturally onto the large, shaded terrace. Wooden shutters and exposed timber offer a little nod to local style. The vibrant red sofa and flat screen TV are in keeping with the casual, upbeat feel of the villa. Air-conditioned throughout, WiFi is provided along with all the little luxuries guests would expect.
The two bedrooms are spacious and crisp; again, unfussy in keeping with the very sleek and natural feel of the villa, yet finished to a high level of quality. Two to six guests can comfortably enjoy a wonderful stay at Villa Della Nurra - the living room sofa doubles as a sofa bed; ideal for casual, fun holidaymakers who are happy to forego formality.
The villa is truly special when it comes to the softening evening light; outdoor living space is provided to perfection by way of a poolside terrace. Imagine gazing across those open plains to the silvery mountains on the horizon with a glass of wine as the sun goes down.
The swimming pool is generously proportioned with modern, outdoor shower, and the barbecue and surrounding areas are built in the natural, local stone.

Set within an enormous private estate hosting a working olive farm in the heart of the Sassari region, Villa Della Nurra offers the best of serene, rural charm while only being a few minutes from the beach at Argentiera. The latter is known for its particular rugged beauty where the sandy coast meets silver-tone mountains. Just thirty minutes by car from Alghero airport, guests will immediately feel the drop in pace to align with the gorgeous, natural Sardinian way of life.
With ample choice, the coastline is varied and interesting: the beaches of Ezzi Mannu, Le Saline, Pazzona and Punta Negra are also worth exploring. The northern Sardinian coastline is known for being much more varied than the south; namely, rocky little-hidden bays and coves, interspersed by sandy beaches (these are short rather than long.) The granite cliffs and mountains add character to this undiscovered corner of Sardinia.
La Corte is a mere four kilometres away; ideal for picking up fresh bread and tasty provisions. For a little more choice by way of shops, Palmadula is just ten kilometres from Villa Della Nurra. With no more than three hundred inhabitants, this is small-town authentic Sardinian life rather than a commercial, glittering resort.
The area is rich in archaeological sites and natural beauty. The Parco Geo Minerario dell’Argentiera is a former mining area - today an abandoned lead and silver mine and pre-historic village. For those keen on archaeology, the Olbia Museum offers warships and remains of Nuraghic civilisation; likewise, the Roman remains including the bridge and baths of Maetzke.
The city of Porto Torres is rich in both culture and history, overlooking the magnificent Gulf of Asinara. Steeped in a Roman and Medieval past, every corner will tell a tale of archaeological treasure. From the Basilica di San Gavino, the Romanesque basilica, to the Palazzo di Re Barbaro, the original walls of the central Roman baths, to the seven arch bridge - Ponte Romano - visitors will uncover endless historical intrigue.
Shop and supermarkets
This villa will offer a great spot for children, whether it be learning about agriculture, exploring the nature, a little archaeology, or simply enjoying some of the most beautiful beaches that Sardinia has to offer.
In particular, the beach in Argentina is a safe, unspoiled beach ideal for families with young children. Umbrellas and sun loungers can be hired, while the beachside cafe provides delicious post-swim snacks. The Porto Ferro at Alghero, similarly, offers soft white sands and wonderful views - a very natural and uncommercial spot for those who enjoy tranquillity.
The lateral, open layout of Casa Della Nurra will mean toddlers can wander with ease - no need for worrying about tumbles and stargates. Given that surrounding estate is a fully working farm, curiosity will run high upon seeing those interesting olive-picking machines and there is be a great deal to learn about the oil production process.
The enchanting and mystical Grotte di Nettuno (Neptune’s Caves) offers a magical underworld of pools and caves that children will find unforgettable. The Parco Naturale di Noe dell’Arca will delight children with its rare animal species and nature reserve.
For horse lovers, The Stelle da Mandra is a wonderful equestrian centre, where treks can be arranged for discovering Sardinia and its magical landscapes on horseback.
The Parco di Porto Conte is accessible by panoramic bus tour from Alghero; the scenery is stunning, and the park is wonderful for treks into nature and spotting deer and donkeys.
For tree top adventures, cable pulleys and rope ladders, Le Ragnatele will be a hit with older children.
