Located in the Gulf of Naples on the gorgeous island of Ischia, Villa Per Mare is the ideal romantic getaway - a place where you can relax in a sun lounger on the terrace whilst taking in the uninterrupted ocean view or unwind with a whirlpool dip in the villa’s private jacuzzi at your leisure.
Discretely bordered by neighbouring villas, a well-planted slip of Mediterranean garden traces the side of the property as you approach its entrance. A clean and bright décor complemented by beachy details greets you as you enter the villa, whilst restful neutral shades grace the bedroom, from which you can glimpse the deepest blue sea.
The villa is conveniently situated less than a 10-minute drive from the town of Forio, a great spot for grocery shops and a delightful assortment of eateries. For those keen to explore the local area on foot, a 2-minute stroll will reward you with an attractive garden and bar, or walk 10 minutes to a pretty church for some historic sightseeing.
Take a 5-minute drive to Punta Caruso, Ischia’s highest point above sea level, where you can walk a wild coastal landscape path that is ideal for nature lovers. Nearby are various hikes around the island’s northern coast, or simply drive 5 minutes from the villa to the incredibly idyllic Varulo Beach, a secluded crescent-shaped cove with crystal clear water.
Vineyards can be found across the island, which thanks to its climate and mineral-rich volcanic soil produces excellent wines. Enjoy tastings with gourmet food pairings at any number of vineyards, and don’t forget to stock up on a bottle or two of Ischia’s best vintages, the ideal purchase when shopping at Ischia Porto, the island’s main town. Situated only around 15 minutes by car from the villa, this port destination also offers designer clothing boutiques, private boat charters and more.

About the surrounding area of Villa Per MareSharing a charming location among a scattering of other villas that make up a private resort, Villa Per Mare is found on a lush green road studded with palm trees, traditional stone walls and discrete gardens, beyond which can be seen the most incredible sea views.
The nearest beach is only 10 minutes away on foot (via a road) where you can also find plenty of spots for a bite to eat. 5 minutes away in the car is the small town of Lacco Ameno, the perfect place to hire an electric bike for an effortless freewheel around the island, visit the ornate and quietly gorgeous Basilica di Santa Restituta, and witness the popular natural oddity that is Fungo di Lacco Ameno, the town’s much beloved mushroom-shaped rock!
With picture postcard good looks and an exclusive feel, the small village of Sant’Angelo makes for a great visit. Hop in the car and in less than 20 minutes you can shop its upmarket boutiques, witness locals baking eggs and chicken buried in Le Fumarole Beach’s volcanic sand (yes, really!), or visit any number of the area’s luxury spas.
10 minutes away by car is the town of Forio. Here you can visit the dazzlingly pretty Chiesa del Sorccorso, a white-painted church named for a saint of the snow, or spend an afternoon in the garden paradise that is La Mortella. This majestic botanical wonderland includes waterfalls, exquisite landscaping, and even a concert hall which hosts performances throughout the year. Forio’s town centre itself offers plenty of restaurants, bars, and an attractive harbour with houses picked out in pastel hues.
Take a 15-minute drive to the main port of Ischia Porto to discover a wide choice of bars and restaurants, many of which line the harbour, where you can linger over a delicious lunch before wandering the town centre’s scenic streets. Across the bay and around 2 hours away by ferry is of course the fabulous mainland city of Naples, but you may well find everything you could wish for all around you without leaving the shores of this beautiful island.

Be sure to check opening times before you set off, as this impressive historic landmark is worth a visit.
Nothing will please the kids more than grabbing a pizza at the local pizzeria in the town of Forio, only 10 minutes by car from the villa. Whilst there, why not take them to the Il Torrioni Museum, an ancient watch tower which was originally built as a lookout to spot marauding pirates! As well as learning about the history of the tower, an exhibition documenting a prominent local artist is also there and on permanent display.
From only a 5-minute drive away, do be sure to hit the beaches during your visit for family-friendly fun. From the large and sandy shores of Citara Beach at Forio, to rock pools and caves at San Francesco Beach, there is a wealth of options to explore.
