Villa Tessarano is a breath-taking oasis of luxury, opulence and style, set within impressive, private grounds just outside of Sorrento. Overlooking the wonderful bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius, this elegant three-storey villa offers a sumptuous, up-market and secluded holiday experience for families or groups of up to ten.

Coming through the bustle of coastal Sorrento life, guests will be speechless as they swing into the gated, short private driveway up to this ever-so-attractive stand alone villa in its stunning setting.

Recently upgraded, modernised and wonderfully equipped, with all modern appliances as well as little touches of additional luxury, this villa truly comes into its own with the outdoor spaces. Set within the cliffside, the views are sublime. Surrounded by greenery, vibrant flowering plants and within its own private gated estate, guests will truly be able to unwind in private luxury.

There are simply layers upon layers of outdoor eating areas - one for each night of the stay! Whether it be pretty, draped gazebos on the lawn, traditional built-in wood oven, morning coffee on the patio, lemon trees hanging over the open deck with comfortable seating - the options are endless. The cloistered veranda has a particularly elegant charm.

The pool at Villa Tessarano is glorious; exceptionally maintained along with all the other outdoor areas, there are ample sun-loungers, pool toys and gorgeous vibrant flowering plants.

Each bedroom is both crisply and thoughtfully finished, with hallmarks of quality throughout. Stunning chandelier lighting, the best quality cotton bed linen, impressive bathroom ceramics and above all, far reaching sea views make this spot so special.

There are four master suites all with en-suite bathrooms, while one bedroom doesn’t come with an en-suite, yet the villa is hardly short of showers, so this need not be an issue!

The living spaces are both smart yet cosy; mahogany dining table and gorgeous traditional tiles in the kitchen will not go unnoticed by those style enthusiasts.

Essential conveniences such as WIFI, air-con, TV and safe box are all covered within this villa; guest can truly “let go” within this oasis of calm and tranquillity.

All in all, for secluded and luxury Italian living, with every comfort covered in such an alluring and romantic part of Italy, this villa is a jewel in Oliver’s Travels' crown!

What you should know…

  • Split over multiple levels, this villa is not ideal for those with mobility issues
  • Children in the group will be well provided for regarding cot beds and high chairs, yet will need to be watched in extensive outdoor spaces, around the pool and stone steps
  • This villa offers showers rather than baths! However, the shower cuybicles are so large and so pretty with the original Moorish style tiles that guests won’t give this a second thought!
  • It is ample, private car parking space, however, with the local amenities of Sorrento on this villa’s doorstep, it is not essential to have a vehicle, though may prove handy for day trips further afield

At just two kilometres from Sorrento centre and just three hundred yards from the local restaurants, shops and amenities including bus stop, this villa is ideally placed. The nearest sandy beach is found at Puolo, an enchanting little traditional fishing village just over a kilometre away.

Sorrento itself looks over the Bay of Naples on the Sorrentine Peninsula; sitting on the clifftops that separate the town from its busy marinas, it is renowned for its sweeping water views across the waters and central Piazza Tasso, the cafe-lined square. The centre of Sorrento is steeped in history; within a warren of narrow alleys the Chiesa di San Francesco is a sight to behold; a 14th-century church in rich, opulent Italian style with tranquil cloisters.

Also, on the villa’s doorstep is the magical, historical site of the Bagni della Regina Giovanna - famous for the legendary tale of Queen Giovanna; a natural seawater lagoon inside the old Roman ruins. The area around Sorrento is rich with culture, and the elegant Amalfi coast offers so much. For a taste of the dolce vita Positano is the wonderful picture-card perfect day trip with stunning coastal roads.

Amalfi itself is so attractive with its ochre tones, set in a fertile region known for its fresh produce, boat trips and long sandy beaches are the tones of the day. Seafood restaurants are aplenty, as are small, little authentic towns set within the cliffs.

Pompeii requires a full day (and plenty of cooling drinks in the heat of the summer.) This ancient preserved town has been crystallised in time; the statues are a sobering and unforgettable sight. Parents of toddlers should be aware that the streets are cobbled; the cafe offers a good selection of ice lollies, however.

Naples itself is buzzing and bustling working city; the markets, the narrow streets with their outdoor washing lines and cobbled alleyways offer a true taste of southern Italian colour and life, along with plenty of history, beautiful churches and allegedly the best pizza Italy has to offer.

Whether it be hiking, fine cuisine or historical sites, this part of Italy offers opportunity in abundance. The Lattari mountains hug the Sorrentine peninsula impressively. Jazz concerts in the open air are popular in the summer months, and the renowned Museo Correale di Terranova is a must-see for art lovers.

In this part of Italy, during the summer months, the town life comes alive of an evening, with small children all part of evening piazza life. Running around the open piazzas freely and safely in their evening wear as their parents look on from outdoor terraced restaurants.

The villa itself is ideal for children of all ages: the large pool with inflatable toys will offer hours of fun, whilst for those teens in the group an iPod dock and DVD player ensure downtime is fully covered.

The large open lawns provide a safe space for outdoor games and fun, whilst the many layers and terraces will offer ample outdoor eating options and great hide-and-seek potential!

Day time siestas in the quiet, cool calm of the bedrooms will be ideal when the sun gets too much for smaller members of the group.

The local beaches just a footstep away offer sun loungers and parasols for hire, with an array of water front family friendly restaurants and gelato spots.

The Marina Grande in Sorrento is a lovely little spot for collecting sea shells and chasing fish whilst parents sit by sipping a cool beer. For those youngsters interested in history, curious minds will be intrigued by the gladiatorial arenas and mysterious catacombs the area is rich with.Pompeii is a trip that younger members of the group will not forget in a hurry: ancient cisterns, passageways and ghoulish cemeteries really bring history to life!

Children are just adored in southern Italy and welcome virtually everywhere! The glut of museums will offer an escape from the day time heat - namely, Museo Archeologico Virtuale where ancient ruins are bought to life with holograms and videos, or the Museo della Carta - a story of the regions proud paper making traditions. Small visitors will simply be delighted by what is known as the best gelato in the world and the sweet custard filled pastries and buns that the region is famous for.
