Overview
In the western village of Imerovigli, this beautiful, eco-friendly villa enjoys sublime views out to Santorini’s caldera. This four bedroom property on the cliff offers spectacular outdoor areas with hot tubs and has been designed to be energy efficient.
With room for nine guests, Santorini Blue is situated in one of the island’s prettiest coastal villages. Stylish and fresh, this villa is set over two floors connected via a winding staircase. The spectacular views from the terrace areas really make staying here unforgettable – and you can experience them from either the outdoor seating areas or one of two tempting hot tubs. There is one on each floor.
You have great facilities throughout the property, with air conditioning, satellite TV in all rooms, Wi-Fi and a music system. The interiors are comfortable and decorated in calming shades, incorporating spacious seating areas and two kitchens.
Each of the four bedrooms comes with its own en suite bathroom with a shower. Three rooms have queen-size beds, while the fourth has twin beds, all of them with superb Coco-Mat mattresses. An additional sofa-bed can accommodate a ninth guest if required.
Santorini is a stunning island in every sense. The caldera on the western side is a lagoon of sea water which was the result of a huge volcanic eruption more than 3600 years ago. A volcano currently sits in the middle of the lagoon and visits to it are one of the island’s most popular experiences for visitors. Imerovigli’s location ensures it offers some of the best views, and is easily accessible from Santorini’s other towns such as nearby Fira. It is also famed for its incredible sunsets.
All over the island, you can enjoy spectacular scenery, winery tours and an array of visitor-friendly restaurants and bars, as well as excursions to points of historic interest or boat trips.

What you should know…
- The services of a private chef are available, as well as spa treatments, boat tours, helicopter transfers and a range of activities and excursions
- A car is helpful to get around the island, but there is also a good public bus service. Taxis, however, are in short supply
- Santorini Airport is about 12 minutes’ drive from Imerovigli. The whole island is within a reasonable driving distance – it should take about 45 minutes to get from one end to the other

Location
About the surrounding area of Santorini BlueThe spectacular Greek island of Santorini is unmissable. Easily accessible and small enough to be easily navigable too, the island’s incredible scenery alone is reason enough to visit – the caldera down its western side and the Nea Kameni volcano it surrounds creating unforgettable views.
Santorini is less of a beach destination than many islands, as those it does have tend to be populated by pebbles and volcanic rock rather than sand. This doesn’t stop many of them becoming busy, however, and you can often find beach bars which enjoy the idyllic views of the sea. Perissa and Kamari are among the most popular, and are found on the south-eastern coast. A little further north, Monolithos is generally less crowded. Ammoudi Bay, just outside Oia, is a popular cliff jumping and swimming spot.
If you fancy a hike to the island’s highest point, you can head up Profitis Elias. At the top of the mountain (565m), you will find a monastery which is still in use today. While you can’t visit all of it, there is a chapel and a small museum. Ancient Thera offers another climbing opportunity – the remains of this city are well worth a look, even if the ascent from Perissa is on the steep side.
A notable landmark in the south of Santorini, the Akrotiri Lighthouse sits on the edge of the cliffs, not far from another archaeological site. The impressive ruins of Akrotiri have had a centre built around them, so are now enclosed. The prehistoric remains of the village offer a fascinating insight into the island’s past. In Fira, Santorini’s largest town, you can find the Museum of Prehistoric Thira which contains various artefacts from the site, including frescoes, pottery and even fossilised olive tree leaves.
Boat trips are a popular way to explore the coast, as well as the must-see volcano. It’s not considered to be in danger of erupting any time soon so you are able to walk on the surface of the volcano which sits right in the middle of the caldera. Near Akrotiri, you might also like to visit the Red Beach – aptly named due to its red volcanic cliffs.
A considerable number of wineries can be found around the island, with a particularly large concentration in the area south of Fira. Many offer tours which are another pleasant way to enjoy the sunshine and learn about Santorini’s wine production.
You’ll find plenty of dining options in the larger towns of Fira and Oia, while Imerovigli also has a very good restaurant scene. Firostefani, between Fira and Imerovigli, also has some good places. Fira and Oia offer good shopping too, and the latter also has a ferry to the isle of Thirassia, on the other side of the caldera.

Getting There
How to reach Santorini island
There are two ways to reach Santorini Island: either by flight or by ferry.
By plane: The airport of Santorini (JTR) is located in the region of Kamari that is 8 km far from Thira. Santorini island is one of the most popular Greek destinations, that is why many tourists arrive on the island with direct ferries from their country. Domestic flights are available too.
By ferry: The main port of Santorini is called Athinios (JTR) and is located 9 km outside of Thira. The trip from Piraeus can last from 5 hours (if you take a speed ferry) to 9 hours (if you prefer the conventional ferry). One more thing that you should keep in mind is that Santorini is connected through various routes to the most Cyclades islands. You can easily book your ferry tickets using the link below or the booking engine.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesSantorini is a pleasant island for all, and what it lacks in big family attractions it makes up for with stunning scenery and experiences that make the most of it.
Among these are opportunities to enjoy snorkelling or kayaking, or perhaps taking a boat trip or a catamaran cruise. You might be able to stop off at the picturesque Red Beach with its striking red cliffs and indigo waters – a contrast which makes this a very photogenic spot too.
There’s the chance to enjoy some sunbathing at the popular Perissa and Perivolos beaches which are adjacent to each other on the south-eastern coast. These beaches have the best sands on the island, so they do get busy, but with sun loungers and parasols you can have a very chilled experience there.
They may also like to discover Santorini’s history at its archaeological sites. One of the most impressive is the covered Akrotiri site, with its ancient city remains still in very good order. The Museum of Prehistoric Thira offers a chance to see some of the artefacts that have been excavated from the site more recently.
Oia’s Santorini Maritime Museum is another they may like to take a look at, with its model ships and maps. This town has lots of places to eat and shop too, so is a good place for an easy day out. The packed Atlantis Bookshop is a real treasure and will definitely appeal to readers.
Other possibilities include the open-air cinema not far from Kamari Beach, or a visit to the island’s wineries. A volcano visit is another must, or you could go and admire the view from the site of the Akrotiri Lighthouse. A ferry trip from Oia to the separate island of Thirassia also makes a good day trip. When you head back to Oia, be sure to hang around to watch the amazing sunset over the Aegean Sea.
