Think of a villa and double it when you stay in the simply stunning Villa White, on the southwest coast of Mykonos, the jewel of the Greek Cyclades islands, in the heart of the Aegean Sea. This must be seen to be believed, the uber luxury villa boasts ten ensuite double bedrooms, and can comfortably accommodate up to twenty guests in some style. Sitting on a promontory overlooking Mykonos old town, the villa is blessed with sweeping panoramic views over the azure blue Aegean Sea. A vacation in Villa White would be ideal for a large family gathering, or a friends get-together.

This one thousand three hundred and thirty-five square metre villa is built over two storeys, out of traditional local stone, that is cleverly combined with classic Mediterranean white-washed walls. The villa has an east and west wing, each with five ensuite bedrooms, an independent living space, and its own private heated swimming pools, and terraces with outside bars. Villa White is set on its own private grounds and comes with plenty of parking spaces, tiered terracing, a cinema, a gym, and a Jacuzzi. For your peace of mind, the villa has overnight security, and for the ultimate in luxury, there is a retinue of a dedicated team of staff to look after your every need. Complimentary air conditioning and Wi-Fi is included throughout. The minimalist interiors have been inspired by traditional Greek island life, furnished with only the very best quality natural materials, including anti-slip flooring, contemporary art adorns the walls, and the décor is a subtle palette of sophisticated shades of grey, and crisp, cool whites.

Enter the property at Villa East, where you will find a light and airy holiday home of open-plan living, with floor-to-ceiling windows that reward the guests with uninterrupted sea views. The seating area has plush cream sofas and matching chairs, wood coffee tables, a flat-screen smart television, and an open fireplace for the cooler months and evenings. There is an adjacent elegant dining set that is perfect for some impressive indoor entertaining. For the younger guests, there is a dedicated children’s play area, that is packed full of toys and games. The state of the art fitted kitchen has everything you will need to cater for your holiday, including an American style family size fridge freezer, built-in oven, dishwasher, a preparation island with a built-in hob and bar stools, and that must-have morning coffee maker.

There is the first of five beautifully-appointed double bedrooms, with a queen size bed, an ensuite bathroom, and a pool and sea view. A guest cloakroom and storage room complete the ground floor. Take the stairs to the first floor where you will find four ensuite double bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, a walk-in dressing room, an ensuite bedroom, and a furnished sea-view balcony. Two of the other bedrooms have sea view balconies, whilst the other has a vista of the manicured gardens. Villa West has a similar layout, the ground-floor ensuite double bedroom has its own independent entrance, there are two staff rooms, and all four first-floor bedrooms enjoy stunning sea-view balconies.

The outdoor space at Villa White takes alfresco living to the next level. There are two Roman step entry heated swimming pools, two bars, a cinema, a gym, and a Jacuzzi, all arranged over sea view tiered terraces. Start the day with a workout in the fully equipped gym, then massage those tired muscles in the Jacuzzi. Sunbathe on the white deep cushioned sun loungers, strategically positioned around the pool. Flick through the latest Tatler on the wicker double day bed, whilst fat white bean bag cushions are perfectly positioned for maximum flopping.

Enjoy morning coffee and sundowners at sun set under the veranda-covered soft seating spots. Meet at the bar for a specially created cocktail by the in-house mixologist. Eat alfresco at the family-size outside dining sets, and enjoy Greek delicacies freshly grilled from the barbeques. At the end of a busy day sunbathing or sightseeing, come together to watch your favourite films at the tiered seating cinema. Then raise a glass of local wine and toast the most memorable holiday.

Villa White is nestled in the hillside overlooking the old town of the jet-set island of Mykonos, part of the Cyclades, in the heart of the Aegean Sea. The exclusive island of Mykonos measures only ten kilometres long by fifteen kilometres wide, so wherever you want to go it’s only a short drive away. The villa is just a few kilometres from Mykonos airport, which is served by both local and international flight operators. If you are island hopping, then the nearby islands of Naxos and Syros also have their own airports.

The nearest beaches of Ornos, Psarou, and Paragka are just a short drive away. The village of Ornos is to the north of the villa, with two beaches, streets lined with traditional tavernas and a harbour with boats that can take you to local beaches and nearby Delos. The coastline is populated by many beautiful golden sandy beaches and beach clubs, take your pick from the fashionable Buddha Beach Bar, the family-friendly favourite of Agios Stephanos, or party, party, party all day long on hedonistic Super Paradise Beach, with its crystal clear waters, restaurants, bars, and clubs with resident DJs, there’s something for everyone on the island of Mykonos.

During daylight hours play penance in one of the eight hundred churches that populate the island, most notably Paraportiani, which is a unique construction combining four styles of architecture, or nearby the church of St George Spilinnos, uniquely built into the cavity of the rocks. Mykonos town, known locally as Chora is a ten-minute drive away. Here you can wander the maze of streets with the colourful Cycladic houses and beautiful bougainvillaea, and do some serious designer label shopping in one of the many luxury boutiques. Enjoy a moonlit dinner at a seafront restaurant of freshly caught seafood, whilst sipping and ouzo, and watching the beautiful people pass by.

Find out the island’s history and culture at the Archaeological Museum, the Folk Museum, and the Maritime Museum, then go out slightly of town to Lena’s House to discover how the islanders lived. Take a walk up to the landmark windmills, or as they are known locally, Kato Mili, where once the wheat was ground to make bread and is now a mini museum and residencies. Walk along the waterfront to Little Venice, where the original and colourful merchant houses overhang the sea, and is now home to cafes, bars, restaurants, and galleries, best enjoyed at sunset with a retsina or two. Admire the Armenistis lighthouse, still fully functioning and an essential asset of Mykonos’ maritime history.

No visit to Mykonos is complete without a day at sea, join a catamaran jolly and snorkel in the sea. If you’re feeling flush, charter your own yacht and discover secret coves and hidden bays and beaches. For the romantics, nothing beats a sunset cruise, cocktail in hand as the sun sets over the horizon. Hop aboard a ferry for a day trip to the adjacent island of Tinos, see the landmark Renaissance-style Church of Panagia Evangelistria, tilt at windmills, visit the fifty villages, walk the ancient fortifications, and coo at the famous dovecotes. Further afield the uninhabited island of Delos is well worth a visit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the birthplace of Zeus and Leto, go with a group or arrange your own private tour.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Your kids will just love a holiday on the island of Mykonos, and there’s a surprising number of fun and family activities to keep them amused. Starting with Villa White’s two private step entry swimming pool, and as there are no set hours they can play and splash all day. The villa also has a children’s playroom and a cinema where they can eat popcorn and ice cream and watch their favourite films.

The coastline of Mykonos is dotted with lots of family-friendly beaches, many of which you can book ahead. We recommend Agios Stefanos Beach, with organised pre-bookable sun loungers and parasols, cafes, bars, mini-marts, and shallow entry calm seas, and it is protected from the northerly winds. Your little daredevils can enjoy a selection of water sports, from fun rides to daring speed boats. Room Anastasia Beach is a bit further north, a family-friendly beach in a beautiful bay, with wooden sun beds and shady straw parasols. Your younger children may enjoy a visit to the Animal Organic Farm, where they can pet and feed the livestock, harvest seasonal crops, enjoy some time in nature, and keep themselves busy with some farming tasks. Whilst your older kids could take a hike over the island’s landscape, exploring the local flora and fauna, ending with a cooling dip in the sea.

All of the family will love a day at sea, whether it is island hopping aboard a shared Catamaran, or chartering a private yacht and discovering secret coves and hidden bays and beaches, and swimming and snorkelling spotting friendly fish. For the thrill seekers, fasten your seatbelts on the Mykonos Rib boat, that whiz around the island. Keep the creatives happy with a mosaic workshop, or a family cooking lesson with a local chef teaching you all to make traditional Greek meze. A trip to Mykonos town is a must and only two and a half kilometres from the villa. Wander the winding streets, shop for souvenirs, meet Petros the Pelican, the mascot of Mykonos, and then enjoy a family-friendly meal in a seaside taverna. For your intellectually curious offspring, there’s the Archaeological Museum, the Maritime Museum, the Folk Museum, and Lena’s House, all within walking distance of the old town.

A short walk along the seafront will take you to Little Venice, a pirate’s paradise of a maze of streets with colourful houses overhanging the sea. Tilt at windmills at the top of the town, the landmark of Mykonos, where they used to grind wheat and make bread for the islanders, now a mini museum and some are even residencies. The Lighthouse of Mykonos is seven kilometres northeast of the town, and well worth a visit for the stunning sea views of the island of Tinos, and to watch the boats arriving and departing from the harbour. Who would have thought it, but Mykonos is home to the best Go-Kart track in Greece, open every day from April until November from 10 am until 2 am in the morning, which should keep them occupied all day.

For those who prefer a more natural form of transport, they can mount a pony and go horseback riding in Ano Mera. If you want to venture further afield, a trip to the adjacent island of Delos is a delight, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the birthplace of Zeus and Leto, Apollo and Artemis, cross the water by private charter or a shared tour for a fabulous family day out.
