Live a life of luxury when you chose to stay at Villa Cole on the southwest coast of cosmopolitan Mykonos, one of the Cyclades islands, in the heart of the Aegean Sea. This stunning six bedroom, seven bathroom villa, can comfortably accommodate up to twelve guests in some style, ideal for a large family holiday, or a friends’ get together.

The property is built out of classic white-washed Cycladic stone, overhanging the edge of a rocky shore, with panoramic sea views as far as the eye can see. This six hundred square metre villa is arranged over three levels, with extensive outdoor space, including your own infinity swimming pool and Jacuzzi. Villa Cole comes with its own private parking spaces, and for your comfort and entertainment, it has complimentary air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout, as well as flat-screen televisions, and safety boxes in every bedroom. The elegant interiors complement the Cycladic exterior, furnished with contemporary commissioned pieces, and a scattering of traditional artefacts, modern art adorns the walls, and handmade rugs are on the floors. The villa is decorated with meticulous attention to detail in a sophisticated palette of cool crisp stark whites and soft ochres. Floor-to-ceiling picture windows flood the villa with natural light, let in sea breezes, and reward you with scenic views, giving the property a sense of being at one with nature, and a calm relaxing ambience.

Enter the villa at the upper level where you will discover a holiday home of spacious open plan living. The art deco sea view sitting room has two seating areas with white comfortable sofas, glass coffee tables, facing a flat-screen smart television, and an open fireplace, fabulous for those cooler months and evenings. The adjacent dining area has a formal twelve seater table, ideal for some impressive indoor entertaining. The all-white kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to cater for your holiday, including a built-in oven and hob, microwave and dishwasher, a family-size fridge freezer, and that must-have morning coffee maker. The first of the six individual earth-tone bedrooms can be found on this floor, with a queen size double bed, an en suite bathroom, a private furnished balcony, and sea views. Take the stairs down to the pool level where there are four spacious double bedrooms, all with king or queen size beds, flat-screen televisions, safety boxes, en suite stone and white bathrooms with walk-in showers, and their own sunrise and sunset sea view balconies. On the lower level there is the last of the six double bedrooms, with a queen size bed, en suite bathroom, a study area, and a furnished balcony.

We think you will be spending most of your holiday on the tiered teak decked sea view terrace, it’s the ultimate outdoor living space. The step entry infinity swimming pool is long enough for a length before breakfast, and just the place for an afternoon dip after sunbathing on white cushioned wooden sun loungers, strategically positioned on the floating deck that looks straight out to sea. If you fancy some bubbles turn left for the Jacuzzi, and wallow as you watch the sunset over the horizon as the end of a perfect day. Relax on the built-in white cushioned sofa as you catch up on the season’s best seller, or seek shade under the covered pergola soft seating area. At the end of the day cool down under the pool side shower. Meet for cocktails at the lounge seating area as sunsets, before feasting on local delicacies freshly grilled on the barbeque at the pergola covered twelve seater dining table.

What you should know…

  • All of the beds in the six bedrooms are all Queen or King size, there are no twin rooms, great for six couples or a group of friends sharing.
  • The villa has sea views, and is within the immediate vicinity of the seafront, but the nearest organised sandy beach with sun loungers and shady parasols is a couple of kilometres drive
  • We recommend car hire to make the most of your holiday and see all the sights you wish to see, although by no means essential as there is a very reliable local taxi and public transport system

Villa Cole is located on the southwest coast of fashionable Mykonos, part of the Cyclades islands in the heart of the Aegean Sea. The exclusive island of Mykonos measures only ten kilometres long by fifteen kilometres wide, so wherever you want to go it’s only a short drive away. The villa is just four kilometres from Mykonos airport, which is served by both local and international flight operators. If you are island hopping then nearby Naxos and Syros also have their own airports.

The new port of Mykonos is a hub of activity for those landing and departing from island hopping ferries, or super yachts cruising the Aegean, and is a quick twenty minute drive to the villa. The villa is situated on a promontory of rocks in Agios Lazaros, overlooking the Gulf of Ornos, and the islands of Delos and Renia. The village of Ornos is to the north, with two beaches, streets lined with traditional tavernas and a harbour with boats that can take you to local beaches and nearby Delos. Villa Cole is near the village of Psarou, with a white sandy beach, and local shops for your holiday provisions. Nearby is Korfos for kitesurfing, and the fabulous uber trendy Buddha Beach Bar for some serious fun in the sun. Treat yourself to a luxury treatment at Santa Maria’s Ginkgo Spa. To the south is Elia and Agrari beaches, offering a selection of water sports, a children’s playground, and cafes and bars, and calmer sea waters than those in the north.

The coastline is populated by many beautiful golden sandy beaches, take your pick from nearby nudist Elia beach, to the family-friendly favourite of Plays Gialos Beach, or party, party, party all day long on Paradise Beach, with its crystal clear waters, restaurants, bars, and clubs with resident DJs, there’s something for everyone on the island of Mykonos. During daylight hours play penance in one of the eight hundred churches that populate the island, most notably Paraportiani, which is a unique construction combining four styles of architecture. Take a visit to Mykonos town, known locally as Chora, and only four kilometres from the villa. Here you can wander the maze of streets with the colourful Cycladic houses, do some serious designer label shopping in one of the many luxury boutiques. Take a table at a seafront restaurant and enjoy a dish of freshly caught seafood, whilst sipping ouzo and watching the beautiful people pass by. Find out the island’s history and culture at the Archaeological Museum, the Folk Museum, and the Maritime Museum, then go out of town to Lena’s House to discover how the islanders lived. Take a walk up to the landmark windmills, known as Kato Mili, where once the wheat was ground to make bread and is now a mini museum and residencies. Walk along the waterfront to Little Venice, where original merchant houses overhang the sea, and is now home to cafes, bars, restaurants, and galleries, best enjoyed at sunset with a retsina or two. Admire the Armenistis lighthouse, still fully functioning and an essential asset of Mykonos’ maritime history.

No visit to Mykonos is complete without a day at sea, join a catamaran jolly and snorkel in the sea, or if you’re feeling flush, charter your own yacht and discover secret coves and hidden bays and beaches. For the romantics, nothing beats a sunset cruise, cocktail in hand as the sun sets over the horizon. Further afield the uninhabited island of Delos is well worth a visit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the birthplace of Zeus and Leto, go with a group or arrange your own private tour.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Your kids will just love a holiday on the island of Mykonos, and there’s a surprising number of fun and family activities to keep them amused. Starting with Villa Cole’s private infinity swimming pool, and as there are no set hours they can play and splash all day. Nearby is Psarou beach, and just along the coast, Agrari beach offers water sports for your older children, and a playground for the younger ones, as well as a café and bar.

The coastline of Mykonos is dotted with family-friendly beaches, many of which you can book ahead, the villa is on the south coast, which has much calmer seas, and is safer for children. We can recommend Agios Ioannis beach with an infrastructure with pre-bookable sun loungers and parasols, cafes, and calm seas, Kalo Livadi in the southeast has views over the Cyclades archipelago and the island of Naxos, and Panormos Beach offers a great restaurant with giant bean bags. Your younger children may enjoy a visit to the Animal Organic Farm, where they can pet and feed the livestock, harvest seasonal crops, enjoy some time in nature, and keep themselves busy with some traditional farming tasks. Whilst your older kids could take a guided hike over the island’s landscape, exploring the local flora and fauna, and ending with a cooling dip in the sea. All of the family will love a day at sea, whether it’s island hopping aboard a shared Catamaran, or chartering a yacht and discovering secret coves and hidden bays and beaches, and swimming and snorkelling spotting friendly fish. Keep the creatives happy with a mosaic workshop, or a family cooking lesson with a local chef teaching you all to make traditional Greek meze.

A trip to Mykonos town is a must, wander the winding streets, shop for souvenirs, meet Petros the Pelican, the mascot of Mykonos, and then enjoy a family-friendly meal in a seaside taverna. For your intellectually curious offspring, there’s the Archaeological Museum, the Maritime Museum, the Folk Museum, and Lena’s House, all within walking distance of the old town. A short walk along the seafront will take you to Little Venice, a pirate’s paradise of a maze of streets with colourful houses overhanging the sea. Tilt at windmills at the top of the town, the landmark of Mykonos, where they once used to grind wheat and make bread for the islanders, now a mini museum and residencies. The Lighthouse of Mykonos is seven kilometres northeast of the town, and well worth a visit for the stunning sea views of the island of Tinos, and to watch the boats arriving and departing from the harbour. Who would have thought it, but Mykonos is home to the best Go-Kart track in Greece, open every day from April until November from 10 am until 2 am, which should keep them occupied all day.

For those who prefer a more natural form of transport, they can mount a pony and go horseback riding in Ano Mera. If you want to venture further afield, a trip to the adjacent island of uninhabited Delos is a delight, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the birthplace of Zeus and Leto, Apollo and Artemis, cross the water by private charter or a shared tour for a fabulous family day out.
