Make memories to last a lifetime when you stay in Villa Aleksei, a classic Cycladic cottage style property perched above the Aegean Sea on the southwest coast of magical Mykonos.

This charming three-storey detached villa is carved into the hillside, it is built out of local whitewashed stone and traditional hewn rocks, and surrounded by a high wall for extra privacy and security and a little bit of shade. The villa has four en suite bedrooms and can accommodate up to eight guests, ideal for a fabulous family holiday or a group of friends sharing. Villa Aleksei has its own private parking, and for your comfort and entertainment, comes with complimentary air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout. The property has a generous three hundred and fifty square metres of living space, with floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the villa with natural light and cool sea breezes. The villa has stupendous sea views from every aspect, including your own private infinity swimming pool. The interiors have been furnished with contemporary pieces and decorated throughout in minimalist crisp clean whites with subtle pastel hues.

Enter the grounds through a white picket fence gate, that leads to an arched entrance with access to the open place living space, which has floor-to-ceiling windows and rewards you with stunning sea views. The seating area has two large three seater sofas with matching armchairs, arranged around circular coffee tables, an open fire, and a flat-screen smart television. The dining set is a smart white table with eight upholstered dove grey chairs, ideal for some impressive indoor entertaining. The adjacent white and stainless steel kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to cater for your holiday, including a built-in oven and hob, a family-size fridge freezer, a microwave, and that must-have morning coffee maker. A handy guest cloakroom completes the ground floor.

Take the open plan white stone staircase to the upper floor where you will find the master bedroom suite. This spacious suite has a king size bed, a separate walk-in wardrobe, a flat-screen television, an en suite local stone and white marble bathroom with a step-in shower, and French windows that open onto a furnished balcony with sweeping sea views. Take the stairs down to the pool level and here you will find three en suite double bedrooms, all with king size beds, flat-screen televisions, stone and marble bathrooms with walk-in showers, and doors that open onto the terrace with sea views. There is also a staff bedroom with its own private entrance, a single bed and an en suite bathroom, ideal for a nanny, chef, or chauffeur.

Access the pool terrace from the lower floor, where you will find an outdoor double level living space, built into the hillside with local stone, tiled paving, and classic wood decking. The Roman step entry curved infinity swimming pool is long enough to do a few lengths before breakfast and perfect for a cooling afternoon dip. The pool is surrounded by modern cream mesh sun loungers, and a pergola shaded wicker soft seating suite, where you can relax with a morning coffee or sundowner at sunset. The lower terrace has basket weave cushioned armchairs that look out to sea for as far as the eye can see. After a hard day’s sunbathing cool off in the poolside shower. In the evening meet for cocktails on the ground floor level terrace, where there is a pergola covered soft seating lounge area, and a dining table to seat eight. Eat alfresco under the Grecian skies, with local delicacies grilled on the barbeque.

Villa Aleksei is located on the southwest coast of the cosmopolitan island of Mykonos, part of the Cyclades in the heart of the Aegean Sea. The exclusive island of Mykonos measures only ten kilometres long by fifteen kilometres wide, so wherever you want to go it’s only a short drive away. The villa is just four kilometres from Mykonos airport, which is served by both local and international flight operators. If you are island hopping the nearby Naxos and Syros also have their own airports. The new port of Mykonos is a hub of activity for those landing and departing from island hopping ferries, or super yachts cruising the Aegean, and is a quick twenty minute drive to the villa. The villa is near the village of Psarou, with a white sandy beach, and local shops for your holiday provisions.

Whilst the village of Ornos is to the north, with two beaches, and streets lined with traditional tavernas. Try Korfos for kitesurfing, Buddha Beach Bar for fun in the sun, or take a boat from Ornos harbour to local beaches and the ancient island of Delos. To the south is Elia and Agrari beaches, offering a selection of water sports, a children’s playground, and cafes and bars, and calmer sea waters than those in the north. Near the villa there is a tennis court, fitness centre, and fishing opportunities. The coast is surrounded by many beautiful golden sandy beaches, take your pick from nearby nudist Elia beach, to the family-friendly favourite of Plays Gialos Beach, or party, party, party all day long on Paradise Beach, with its crystal clear waters, restaurants, bars, and clubs with resident DJs, there’s something for everyone on the island of Mykonos. During daylight hours play penance in one of the eight hundred churches that populate the island, most notably Paraportiani, which is a unique construction combining four styles of architecture.

Take a visit to Mykonos town, known locally as Chora, and only five kilometres from the villa. Here you can wander the maze of streets with the colourful Cycladic houses, and do some serious designer label shopping in one of the many luxury boutiques. Take a table at a seafront restaurant and enjoy a dish of freshly caught seafood, whilst sipping ouzo and watching the beautiful people pass by. Find out the island’s history and culture at the Archaeological Museum, the Folk Museum, and the Maritime Museum, then go out of town to Lena’s House to discover how the islanders lived. Take a walk up to the landmark windmills, known as Kato Mili, where the wheat was ground to make bread and is now a mini museum and residencies. Walk along the waterfront to Little Venice, where original merchant houses overhang the sea, and are now home to cafes, bars, restaurants, and galleries, best enjoyed at sunset with a retsina or two. Admire the Armenistis lighthouse, still fully functioning and an essential asset of Mykonos’ maritime history.

No visit to Mykonos is complete without a day at sea, join a catamaran jolly and snorkel in the sea, or if you’re feeling flush, charter your own yacht and discover secret coves and hidden bays and beaches, and for the romantics, nothing beats a sunset cruise, cocktail in hand as the sun sets over the horizon. Further afield the uninhabited island of Delos is well worth a visit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the birthplace of Zeus and Leto, go with a group or arrange your own private tour.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Your kids will just love a holiday on the island of Mykonos, and there’s a surprising number of fun and family activities to keep them amused. Starting with Villa Aleksei’s private infinity swimming pool, and as there are no set hours they can play and splash all day. Nearby is Psarou beach, and Agrari beach offers water sports for your older children, and a playground for the younger ones, as well as a café and bar.

The coastline of Mykonos is dotted with family-friendly beaches, many of which you can book ahead, the villa is on the south coast, which has much calmer seas, and is safer for children. We can recommend Agios Ioannis beach with an infrastructure with pre-bookable sun loungers and parasols, cafes, and calm seas, Kalo Livadi in the southeast has views over the Cyclades archipelago and the island of Naxos, and Panormos Beach offers a great restaurant with giant bean bags. Your younger children may enjoy a visit to the Animal Organic Farm, where they can pet and feed the livestock, harvest seasonal crops, enjoy some time in nature, and keep themselves busy with some traditional farming tasks. Whilst your older kids could take a guided hike over the island’s landscape, exploring the local flora and fauna, and ending with a cooling dip in the sea.

All of the family will love a day at sea, whether it’s island hopping aboard a shared Catamaran, chartering a yacht and discovering secret coves and hidden bays and beaches, and swimming and snorkelling spotting friendly fish. Keep the creatives happy with a mosaic workshop, or a family cooking lesson with a local chef teaching you all to make traditional Greek meze. A trip to Mykonos town is a must, wander the winding streets, shop for souvenirs, meet Petros the Pelican, the mascot of Mykonos, then enjoy a family-friendly meal in a seaside taverna. For your intellectually curious offspring, there’s the Archaeological Museum, the Maritime Museum, the Folk Museum, and Lena’s House, all within walking distance of the old town. A short walk along the seafront will take you to Little Venice, a pirate’s paradise of a maze of streets with colourful houses overhanging the sea. Tilt at windmills at the top of the town, the landmark of Mykonos, where they once used to grind wheat and make bread for the islanders, now a mini museum and residencies. The Lighthouse of Mykonos is seven kilometres northeast of the town, and well worth a visit for the stunning sea views of the island of Tinos, and to watch the boats arriving and departing from the harbour. Who would have thought it, but Mykonos is home to the best Go-Kart track in Greece, open every day from April until November from 10 am until 2 am, which should keep them occupied all day.

For those who prefer a more natural form of transport, they can mount a pony and go horseback riding in Ano Mera. If you want to venture further afield, a trip to the adjacent island of uninhabited Delos is a delight, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the birthplace of Zeus and Leto, Apollo and Artemis, cross the water by private charter or a shared tour for a fabulous family day out.
