The idyllic and comfortable Villa Xi Sunset is carved into the lush countryside landscape in the picturesque village of Mantzavinata in the Paliki area of Kefalonia. It offers a wonderful mix of traditional, natural and contemporary living in a secluded, peaceful location. Mantxavinata is an atmospheric, quiet village, just 2 km from the beautiful Xi Beach, which is friendly and welcoming. The village, famous for its Mantzavino wine, hosts a fabulous wine festival each August. It is 4 km southwest of Lixouri.
Villa Xi Sunset is extremely spacious both inside and out. With large, open spaces, it overlooks majestic cliffs and mountains and the stunning, crystal clear, azure Ionian Sea. The lush landscape frames astonishing sunset and sunrise views which are very special. The villa boasts three spacious bedrooms, all with excellent, modern ensuite bathrooms so is ideal for a family or a group of friends.
The open-plan living, dining and kitchen area is contemporary and wonderfully light and airy. Many windows and doors illuminate the whole area. The kitchen is fully fitted and contains everything you would wish for a self-catering holiday. The living space leads to a delightful terrace and swimming pool. There is an outdoor lounge area as well as alfresco dining. The outside space is perfect for alfresco meals, pre-dinner drinks as well as morning cups of coffee. Sun loungers surround the swimming pool. You cannot fail to relax in this beautiful setting.
The villa’s interior is modern with earthy tones of beige, white and grey. The furnishings are contemporary and of excellent quality. Two of the bedrooms have double beds, and the third has twin beds which are next to each other. The fully tiled ensuite bathrooms are well maintained. The rooms in this villa enjoy fabulous views either towards the ocean or the mountains. Villa Xi Sunset is a wonderful escape from everyday busy lives. What you should know…
- The village of Mantzavinata is famous for its delicious Mantzavino wine. You must try it! Perhaps you may even be lucky enough to be visiting when the village holds its annual wine festival
- You will be in for a treat with the delicious Greek cuisine available on the island. You must try some traditional moussaka, souvlaki, dolmades and spanakopita. You will be offered ouzo after many meals!
- The villa is close to Lixouri, which is well worth a visit.

About the surrounding area of Villa Xi SunsetVilla Xi Sunset is located in the stunning lush countryside in the tranquil village of Mantxavinata, close to Lixouri. Lixouri is the second largest town in Kefalonia, 35 km west of Argostoli. The beautiful town was built on the site where the ancient city of Pali used to be, before the major earthquake of 1953. Plenty of delightful restaurants and bars line the busy waterfront of Lixouri and the main square, Plateia Petritsi. Lixouri holds many festivals throughout the year and is known for its rich cultural traditions. It boasts one of the oldest philharmonic schools in Greece. You can visit some atmospheric churches with wonderful frescoes, the archaeological museum, neoclassical buildings and the famous Monastery of Kipoureon.
Xi Beach is characterised by its white rocky hills and its fine, reddish-brown sand. It is a well-organised beach with straw umbrellas and sun loungers as well as a beach bar and watersports centre. You can use the red sand as an impromptu face mask! Also, close by are Megas Lakkos Beach, Lepeda Beach, Kounopetra Beach, Markris Yalos Beach, Gradakia Beach and Fanari Beach. A huge rock stands between Xi Beach and Megas Lakos. The beach offers lovely views to the islet of Vardiani. The famous Myrtos Beach is 21.4 km from the villa and definitely worth the drive. It is one of Kefalonia’s most dramatic sights and among the best beaches in Greece.
Kefalonia shot to fame with the film Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and it is easy to see why it maintains its popularity. Lush hilly forests guard the sprawling vineyards, honey-hued sands surround the island and are kissed by turquoise calm waters and pretty towns and villages come alive for tourists in the evenings.
Further north from the Paliki peninsular are Assos and Fiskardo, both wonderful day or evening excursions from the villa. Assos is peaceful and charming with some excellent restaurants and cafes. It is surrounded by luscious green scenery and verdant forests. It offers a mystical atmosphere, almost as though the village is lost in time. Pretty pastel-coloured houses are nestled into the steep hillsides, and the castle is a popular visit. On the northern tip of the island, Fiscardo is trendy and chic. The waterside dining is fabulous, and there is a great selection of unique boutiques. As well as colourful fishing boats in the harbour, you will see many luxury yachts as Fiskardo is the place to be in Kefalonia.

Getting There
How to reach Kefalonia island
There are two ways to get to Kefalonia island: either by flight or by ferry.
By plane: During the busy months, the airport of Kefalonia (EFL) receives a great number of domestic but also charter flights. The airport is located 7 km outside Argostoli, the capital of the island.
By ferry: Kefalonia has three ports: Sami (SMI), Argostoli (ARM), and Poros (PKE). If you want to arrive in Sami you should depart from Patra (GRA). In case you want to arrive to Poros or Argostoli you can depart from Killini (KIL). The trips last from 1.5 to 3 hours. Best Suited For: All AgesChildren will love their holiday to Villa Xi Sunset and Kefalonia. The villa offers much space to play and have fun and the pool is excellent. The beaches of Kefalonia are fabulous and varied. There are 39 in total, the best of which is the astounding Myrtos Beach. There are some stunning seafish around the bays so snorkeling is a great option.
One popular trip is to the caves of Melissani Lake where a hole in the cave’s roof lets in the sun. It is mystical and like venturing into another world. The boat trip will be so memorable across the crystal clear lake. The Drogarati Caves are a miracle of nature with orange and yellow stalactites hanging from the roof like curtains. It is an astonishing marvel, more than 150 million years old.
Cycling is popular on the island. Some of the coastal paths might be a little difficult for young children, but there are some magnificent panoramic views and charming villages to stop. Skala to Mount Aenos is a fabulous ride with generally great conditions. Craggy cliffs, verdant forests and turquoise waters make for an incredible vistas. Mount Aenos is the highest point on the island at 5000 ft. It is also a great place for a hike.
Children always love boat trips, and there are many to be taken. You can visit secluded coves and bays, swimming and snorkelling along the way. It is lovely to head out from one of the harbours at sunset and watch the sun go down. You can also hire kayaks to discover the wonderful coastline and caves.

Fab Villa
We loved our stay at the villa. The view was fabulous. Fully equipped, comfortable, immaculately clean. Host was very helpful, cleaning lady came every 2 days, they even left us some lovely treats in the fridge & food to feed the cats. Would go again and highly recommend.

We had a 5 night stay at the Villa. Kostas the villa owner was very helpful. It was all very clean and tidy. The pool was fantastic, the views were even better. We would definitely come again.

Amazing Villa, location, experience
The location is fabulous, we took the ferry from the airport to Lixouri and within 10 mins you turn off the road to a single track road. The welcome from the owner was lovely; the villa was stocked up, 3 large double rooms with ensuites, BBQ area and lots of outdoor seating. It was the pool that enticed us but the whole experience was just great. 3 women: 3 showers = no waiting around for us to get ready!
We were recommended certain restaurants and beaches, and they were the best!
Our entire stay was just the warm relaxing stay we wanted. Couldn't have asked for more.
This villa would be a great place for a larger family or friends getting together to enjoy the sun. You def need a car on the island, but plenty of space for them on the villa grounds.
