Getting There
How to reach Kefalonia island
There are two ways to get to Kefalonia island: either by flight or by ferry.
By plane: During the busy months, the airport of Kefalonia (EFL) receives a great number of domestic but also charter flights. The airport is located 7 km outside Argostoli, the capital of the island.
By ferry: Kefalonia has three ports: Sami (SMI), Argostoli (ARM), and Poros (PKE). If you want to arrive in Sami you should depart from Patra (GRA). In case you want to arrive to Poros or Argostoli you can depart from Killini (KIL). The trips last from 1.5 to 3 hours. Best Suited For: All Ageseasy access of the Port of Sami and its attractions, Villa Karavomylos is a fantastic base for a family holiday as you everything you need close by.
If you wish to take the kids on a fun-filled day out, Odysseus Zoo Land is just 5km away. This park is rather unique, on a visit here you can follow the legend of Odysseus on a walking trail through statues and scenes of the stories. There is also a playground here, a small zoo and a restaurant.
