St. Spyridon is a quiet resort on the north-east coast of Corfu. Here you will find anything you need for your holidays - which doesn't mean you shouldn't go and explore the beautiful island of Corfu! St. Spyridon boasts a Blue Flag beach, nature reserve and a small range of restaurants, bars and shops. The pretty nature reserve complete with wild flowers and butterflies is only a 10-minute walk from the beach. Nearby there are other activities available: You can visit the nearby lagoon Antinoti, with excellent natural beauty, or you can try your horseback riding skills at the Arena Stables, just 15 minutes' walk from the villa.
For those wishing to explore lively Corfu Town, where a large range of amenities can be found, it is around an hour drive away! This unique UNESCO Heritage site has plenty to offer, and you'll find yourself not wanting to leave.
The nearby town of Kassiopi offers a variety of boat trips - which are a must do, so you can contemplate the island from a different perspective. It is truly beautiful, even more so observing it from the crystal blue sea.
Corfu International Airport
One of the largest and greenest of the Ionian Islands, Corfu is far more than its trademark blue-hued seas and sandy coastline. With its UNESCO World Heritage status and unbeatable strolling opportunities, there is no better place to start exploring than the main town and its historic old quarter, where ancient churches, scattered ruins and a handful of museums mean Corfu’s layers of history can be found just about everywhere. And if you’re in need of a cosy abode, take a look at our flawless villas in Corfu.
How to reach Corfu island
There are two ways to get to Corfu island: either by flight or by ferry.
By plane: During April to October, several direct flights arrive to "Ioannis Kapodistrias" Airport from Europe as Corfu is one of the most popular travel destinations in Greece. During these months, the airport also receives many domestic flights every day from Athens and Thessaloniki.
By ferry: Travelling by ferry is the most popular way of transport in Greece. Ferries to Corfu depart from Patra and Igoumenitsa. If you are travelling from Europe, Corfu is easily accessible by ferry from Venice, Bari, Brindisi or Ancona too. You can easily book your tickets using the link below or the search engine - the port you are looking for is "TBC".
Villa Thalassa is ideal for children offering a large private garden filled with native plants and citrus trees to explore. Children can also take advantage of the onsite basketball net, ping pong table and climbing frame.
If the villa and local beach aren't enough, the north-east coast of Corfu offers plenty for children. There is a Donkey rescue centre at Paleokastritsa, where you can help the volunteers with grooming etc, no entry fee but they welcome donations.
Paleokastritsa also has an aquarium. Waterparks are always popular with youngsters and the Aqualand waterpark in Agios Ioannis won't disappoint. There's another at Sidari. Mavroudis Family Museum and Modern Olive Oil Press in Vraganiotika has an insite in to Olive Oil production and a good place to buy Olive Oil and it's products. If you go to the Vlacherna Monastery you can take a small boat and see planes landing on the runway at the airport.
Corfu Town has fabulous architecture and you can take an open top bus to hear some of the history. Head to Spianada Square, from here you can see the Liston building with it's shops. The Old Fortress is also worth a visit. Casa Parlante is a living museum in Corfu Town, showing you the life of a 19th century nobleman.
You can take a boat trip around the island, probably best top look at boats from Kassiopi, just a short drive away from the villa.
