Overview

Pool Quirky Modern Romantic

For a slice of the real Corfu and a truly romantic escape, Villa Karpos will touch your hearts like few other villas. Nestled up in the hills on the edge of the once abandoned hamlet of Rou and under the protective embrace of Corfu’s highest peak, Mount Pantaktratur, Villa Karpos boasts the most incredible views across the Ionian Sea to Albania and the Greek mainland. You will feel so far away from everyday life, it is such a totally brilliant location to refresh your mind, body and soul. With just one bedroom Villa Karpos is a secluded paradise where you can listen to the songs of the cicadas and watch the eagles. If you do feel like sharing your romantic break with another couple or older children then you could also book the cottage attached to Villa Karpos. Again it offers one bedroom as well as a cosy living space, a kitchen and a bathroom. Perhaps your parents might like to join you, enjoying a little of their own private time but coming together around your fabulous infinity swimming pool and for delicious alfresco meals.

The tranquil hamlet of Rou is just a few minutes from the traditional mountain village of Porta. You will discover fabulous hiking paths from the front door of Villa Karpos to heritage villages such as Mengoulas and Old Perithia, criss-crossing the famous, panoramic Corfu Trail. If you fancy a beach day, you can hop in the car and be on some sensational wonders in 20 minutes. The Venetian ramparts of the UNESCO heritage site of Corfu Town are just 45 minutes away. You definitely enjoy the best of both worlds when staying at the enchanting Villa Karpos.

Villa Karpos is a delightful, atmospheric, fully renovated stone house which sits proudly within its own extensive grounds. The designers have ensured that this villa offers magical, luxurious accommodation where you can bask in romance and the villa’s glorious location. You can walk, paint, explore the quaint nearby villages, chill out on the very special terraces with your holiday books or just relax, watching the ever changing light reflected from the mountains of Albania and the Greek mainland.

This charming villa boasts a very spacious lounge with sumptuous furnishings, a very high, fantastic beamed, vaulted ceiling and a wonderful wooden floor. Wi-Fi, satellite television, a BluRay DVD player and a Ruark R2 radio and music streaming system are all provided for your enjoyment. French doors open on one side to a gorgeous terrace where you can enjoy alfresco dining and the views and to another beautiful, semi-covered dining space on the other side. The blue tiles of the kitchen look wonderful against the dazzling white, modern cabinetry. You can cook delicious meals in this fabulous kitchen and eat in so many wonderful spots, including the kitchen’s breakfast table. There is a handy additional laundry room. The villa’s dreamy bedroom offers a superbly comfortable super kingsize bed, adorned with gorgeous voile drapes and luxury linens and a fabulous ensuite bathroom. The bedroom enjoys its own direct access to a stone terrace too. At one with nature in this enchanting spot, you may be serenaded to sleep by the scops owl sonata with the cool breeze blowing through the doors and windows. You will awake to glorious sunrises over the Albanian mountains and enjoy a delicious breakfast with these astounding vistas.

The extensive terraces and garden of Villa Karpos boasts a fabulous infinity swimming pool, perfectly placed so that you can enjoy the surroundings. The numerous terraces offer beautiful spots to enjoy the sunshine, alfresco dining, chilled glasses of wine and your books.

If you do decided to invite friends or come with older children, the newly renovated cottage attached to Villa Karpos also offers an enchanting ambience and boasts an atmospheric bedroom with a double bed, a contemporary kitchen, a gorgeous shower room and a cosy sitting room with a wood-burning stove. The sitting room and bedroom both face the Corfu channel and enjoy fabulous, extensive views of the lush olive groves and mountains.

Closer still, in the lively north eastern corner of Corfu is the beautiful resort of Kassiopi. Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Teens

Villa Karpos offers just one bedroom, so really it is ideal for a romantic break. However, you could take a young child with you or book the adjoining cottage for older children. You may prefer though to book another villa where things are easier with children.

There is a long list of things to do on Corfu with children. There are many beaches to choose from, from hidden, quiet coves to magnificent, highly organised stretches of sand with water sports and dining facilities everywhere. As well as Acharavi being an excellent family friendly beach, another of the north coast beaches, Avlaki, is also popular. You will find several schools teaching children to sail or windsurf. Avlaki is also a good spot for equestrian fun at the local Dimitris stables. Children of all ages are welcome and if the riders are proficient they may even get to discover the gorgeous coastline with the guides.

Children adore Aqualand, Corfu’s water park. It is just the place for a thrilling day out. The park caters for all ages and boasts a lazy river, wave pool, kayaking, rafting and extreme slides such as the Double Twister, Kamikaze and the Hurricane Twist.

For a completely different non-water based day you could head to the majestic Mount Pantokrator. It is the highest peak in Corfu and a popular pilgrim spot. It boasts the most amazing views of the whole of Corfu Island. On a clear day you can even see Albania and Italy even though Italy is 130km away!

In Corfu Town, children enjoy climbing the walls of the Old Fortress, the Venetian fort built in the 15th century and the New Fortress. The fortresses boast fantastic views of the turquoise waters. Also in Corfu Town, you can take a trip in Kalypso Star, the glass-bottomed boat that leaves the harbour to explore the Ionian Sea’s fascinating marine life. A 10 minute boat trip from Corfu Town takes you to the tiny island of Vidos where you can enjoy feeding the rabbits, seeing the peacocks, swimming and having lunch at the charming taverna.
